Have got two melons that i have had for a week. I need to chop them up and get them in a tub as i don't want to waste them.

I haven't been around for a few days. Too many problems to sort.
Today is my 5th NSD.
On Friday I spent £5.16 in Aldi on 12 litres of skimmed uht milk. This is 4p a litre cheaper than most supermarkets.:)
I also had a personal spend of £1.98 (on what I can't remember to be honest
)
Off for a big shop tomorrow, depending on the weather
Signature updated0 -
A quick whizz around Tesco today.... £26.60 spent. I did go a bit mad and bought 2 speciality breads and extra Dove shower crème that was on offer at 2 for £2.50 so it could have been around £20 if I'd been more careful. Not to worry -its still much better than normal!;)0

I am planning on doing some batch cooking this week. Lidl have their steak mince on offer from Thursday (2 for £5 I think) so I am going to buy a few and do some HM lasagne, chilli con carne and spag bol for the freezer.
What else freezers well to include in my batch cooking? I am off work again this week and would like to use the time to get some cooking done.0 -

Thanks, I am going to do some soups too. I have just been going through the recipe index and there are a couple I'd like to try. There is also a nice recipe for SC beef with port and stilton which I might try too.0 -
I make and freeze stews and casseroles - beef, lamb, chicken and sausage. And soup - thick veg, chicken and veg with pasta or beef and veg.[Deleted User] wrote:What else freezers well to include in my batch cooking? I've also got a dish of chicken enchilladas to go in today - had defrosted chicken to cook (generously) for 3 yesterday, then DS1 mentioned he was going out and wouldn't want tea here. So I stretched it to make 4 portions of which OH and I had one each last night, and the other 2 are on their way into the freezer for DS and I either Wednesday or Thursday this next week or Mon or Tues of the week after.
I also make up the 'mince and onion' part of mince and mash (also includes peas, sweetcorn and diced carrot - possibly also pepper, courgette and/or celery depending on what I have in the house that's wilting - and freeze that. Then I only have to worry about potato (often a combi-oven jacket) for a q&e meal
I need to have a think about what I'm going to cook on Friday. OH's on nights this week, which means his week finishes at 6am Friday morning. Normally I wouldn't see him until 4pm Saturday afternoon, but as it's Valentine's this Friday he's coming over straight from work and we're having a long weekend :happylove So I'm thinking I may try and cook something a bit more special that night (possibly even 3 courses for the first time in our 2+ years), but I still want to try and base it around things I have in - and it can't be toooo special as DS1 will also be here and wanting feeding (although he won't sit with us to eat). And it has to be low-ish fat (we both have high cholesterol), as dairy free as possible (I'm lactose intolerant) and low-ish sugar (I'm high risk for type 2 diabetes, and the recent onset of hormone changes is doing funny things to my taste buds - including making me gag on sweet foods!). Makes cooking even on a 'normal' day quite challenging if I want to try a new recipe
I'm thinking a veg soup, then chicken breast, very lean pork steak or venison steak (I have all in, but they're things we have reasonably regularly) with veg, and then I've no idea what for dessert. (He doesn't eat any kind of milk pudding, including custard, and neither of us eats trifle). Cheryl0 -
