I am joining this a little late in a year, but on a bright side me and my long suffering flat mate have done some decluttering last month. We went over all built in cupboards in a corridor and sorted through shoes, coats, handbags and odd pieces of junk stuffed in them just for the lack of designated space. It took us all day and three bags of rubbish, but we finally reclaimed some space.
My worst nightmare is my wardrobe and my ever expanding "craft desk" affectionally called "cr*p desk" by above mentioned flat mate. This is a monument to "make do and mend" mentality. Of course nothing ever gets completed anyway and the space is just filled with fabrics, old tins and scraps of various things that could potentially be repurposed.
I don't believe I am mentally ready to part with any of that just yet. I think wardrobe will be the first thing I attack tomorrow.

I've been tidying up and getting rid of a few toiletries, I seem to be coming to an end of stuff all at once. Threw away some out of date medicines that we were keeping for some unknown reason.

Rubbish and recycling put out too.

While going through stuff I found some of those stick on hooks and have put them up to keep the dogs leads tidy in the upstairs and downstairs cupboards. I've had those hooks for ages so finally got around to using them.:o:D

I've also decided to order Applaws dog food in bulk to save on the amount of packaging to throw away.:)

Another waverer here, but I'm currently on a roll.

Since last post we've cleared space in the "dumping ground formerly known as the attic room", redecorated the back/breakfast room and collected more garments for the fabric recycling place. Highlights include:

    Charity shops:
    - 11 items taken from dresser and put into the CS box
    - 14 items from kitchen either binned or in CS box

    Recycling
    - two sacks full of uni/college/household papers
    - 5 more cardboard boxes
    - 9 leads/ plugs/ odd electrical bits

    Binned

    - broke a plate
    - 3 half used pots of paint mixed into one and used up on the walls (nice 'beige with attitude' colour). Pots had to be binned as they don't accept empty paint pots in the plastic recycling.
    - 2 rolls of dead masking tape
    - 5 paint brushes
    - several paint stained dusters
    - an odd length of hosepipe

    Used up:
    - two more bottles from the toiletry mountain
    - two rabbits, and a cot quilt from my fabric stash
    - completed DD's quilt at last, so space cleared.

    Given away:
    - carrier bag full of polypockets
    - another bag full of folders etc is on offer, but will be at CS in the next trip if not claimed

Attic room remains an ongoing project, but I've set an Autumn deadline. 3 items of furniture up there are earmarked for the furniture CS already.

(insert dancing smiley - still can't get them to show up!)

    **smug post alert**

Woke up today feeling really determined and bouncy. Still haven't showered but I've got six bulging bin bags leaning against my house and four inside ready for charity shop. Also listed 10 things on eBay (going to aim for ten+ a day) and found...wait for it... €1000 euros leftover from Disneyland Paris last year (yes I've been a BAD girl) so pleased :j

One of the things I need to tackle is DDs schoolwork/artwork and my docs.

What (if anything) can be scanned in rather than kept? And how does one keep that safe? Or am I better off getting some document boxes?

    Today I have:
    * Sorted out my receipts and vouchers in my purse. Most of them got shredded.
    * Gone through a pile of articles that I have collected and have then saved the website addresses in my favourites. All articles are now in the recycling bin
    * 1 shower gel used up
    * 2 jars of seasoning used up and put in the recycling bin
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j

    More decluttering done today:
    * the content in one leverarch has been shredded
    * I have gone through my favorites on my PC and deleted 19 of them
    * Our herb planter where we planted 7 types of herbs last year have all gone in the garden bin which is being emptied this week
    * 2 unloved conditioners have been used up, 1 as a zink cleaner and 1 as a shaving cream

The plan is to do some more shredding this week.
