Some posts on here leave me in awe! I work full time so im trying to declutter between work and everything else. Im not finding it easy. Today I dragged a bag to the CS containing
A food mixer (working but I never use it)
An egg boiling machine ditto
5 shirts
4 scarfs
A beach bag I dont like any more
Some cups ditto
An old filofax type binder.
It feels great. Now im goign thru all my tights, socks, pants and t shirts to weed out the ones I never choose. Honestly, whoneeds 47 pairs of pants??!!

My decluttering thanks to selling has gone really well, must get a list of what I've actually decluttered together and posted soon.
My big achievement in January is no purchases other than food, a hotel stay and some train tickets. So no packages of fabric, yarn, clothes etc for me. OH has bought a few bits for the house like a new screwdriver as his broke, some more rechargeable batteries etc but we've both been very good this month and very little has come into the house, which I always think is half the battle with decluttering.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
Initial Mortgage free date - January 2058
Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98
Overpayments to date - £79.62
Current Mortgage free date - January 20580 -
I've had a busy couple of days - hence no decluttering. Off to do one of my regular CS shifts this afternoon, so hoping to resist temptation ............ - need to pay for stuff that I got a couple of days ago
. They'd already 'cashed-up' when I was looking for change at the end of the day.
Good Luck everybody for the rest of the day - looking forward to reading about your successes when I get back this evening.
Take care all - Lilyplonk x0 -
I know I'm joining the game late but please can I join in?! I've made a start in the last month but I still have a huge way to go to get this house organised.
Brief description of me - mum of 3 smallies, married to a student who also scuba dives, plays ice hockey, fishes, and does any number of other hobbies which take up space. We have a dog and 3 large goldfish who currently inhabit a 120l tank!!!
We are all crammed into a small (read tiny) 2 bedroomed terrace. We have the world's smallest kitchen, a very small and horribly muddy grass patch which is dark and dank and north facing. There is a small loft, but very little storage. The understairs cupboard is my hubby's man-den! lol :rotfl:
Add in 5 people's worth of clothes and shoes, bedding and towels, food and toiletries, plus 3 children's worth of toys, and you have some idea of how cramped our little abode is!
My mission is to de-clutter, pack and sort ready for our house move which is definitely happening before September 2015. I aim to have this house happy and running properly by April 5th (hubby's end of semester).
I'm selling what I can, charity shopping the rest. So far I've made nearly £60 since the beginning of December, most of it in January! lol. I've sorted out under our bed which was at best a dumping group, at worst a landfill site! lol. I sorted the kitchen and things before Christmas but of course they get cluttered so quickly with 5 people to feed (plus a dog!).
I am however to determined to make the most of it, and get rid of everything unnecessary as lets face it.....we don't want to take it with us!Changing my Family's Future!! - Starting again!!!!
