My goodness, how busy everyone is! I have decluttered a kettle wow! I have also sent 10 knitting patterns and 8 sets of salvaged buttons to mum. I knew sewing them in sets to pieces of card would pay off, and saved mum a fortune as she is knitting mad. Also decluttered one large (recycled) padded envelope to post them in. Hubby used a (recycled) box to post stuff too this week.
Only 21 bits out in the last couple of days but I am happy with that.
Well done everyone, you are all an inspiration. xSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Please can I join, just found the thread. I want to get rid of 365 items this year and if I buy something I must declutter an additional item. I have not been including food as we had bottles of half eaten chutneys etc and they may be replaced in the future. OH took 5 items to charity shop today and I binned 1 item. A broken artificial sunflower, don't ask.....

Sort of decluttered a bit yesterday.
Christmas decs finally put back in the loft (had been on the living room floor, at least now they are back where they belong until December :snow_grin)
From the bathroom - 3 empty shampoo bottles, two empty toothpaste tubes, empty bleach bottle, 4 used candles, 11  middles from toilet rolls (feeling like I should be adding "and a partridge in a pear tree")
A tad embarrassed that there was so much actual rubbish in therebut at least it made for a quick and easy start. I think that may be the way forward for me, get rid of the stuff for binning (I'm sure there's plenty!) so that I can then make a proper start on what can be used to raise much needed funds (huge debts to pay off) ,or found a more useful home where someone else may appreciate it or be able to make good use of it (DS is 13, last week I gave a pair of swimming trunks to a friend for her son - age 7-8. Why did I still have them???).
Trying to focus on tidying as I go along as DD and DS both seem to be following my messy/hoarding tendencies :eek:
Also decluttered a pizza and half a bottle of wine last night:D
Probably not get much done today as I'm taking DD shopping for a dress for a wedding in a couple of weeks, so my will to live may well be not so much lost as "missing in action, presumed dead" by lunchtime :rotfl:0 -
Not too much done yesterday :-
63. Outgrown top from DS1's room - CS
64. Canvas bag, never used - CS
65. Bottle with dregs of rosehip oil (which I think has gone off as it smells horrible!) -bin
Something decluttered is better than nothing though!Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.
Decluttering - January 2024 - 89 physical objects, over 700 emails/digital decluttering 🎊 🏅🏅0 -
decluttered nearly 400 aluminium cans to the recycling machine yesterday.
200 clubcard points? don't mind if I do.
also over 100 carrier bags to recycling (no idea how I let it get THAT bad)
Some orange upsidedown pudding was also decluttered although I seem to have gained 2lb as a result of this and other food decluttering I have done this week.
Have also sorted into piles, a bag of clothes that I received for DS#1 before xmas
Unfortunately I have just collected another bag of clothes, this time for DS#2, so will be doing that at some point today.
and about to SAD FART a broken pair of DS#2's school shoes (I have reciept dated 1st November 2013 so I think a NEW pair is in order)just in case you need to know:

I kind of knew that this thread would spur me on and it certainly has. Having been in this house for over 40 years it has been all too easy to stuff clutter in various nooks and crannies!
Today I decided to give the spare bedroom a good clean. However, instead I have been in the wardrobe (all my clothes!) and have cleared out 20+ cardigans for the CS . These go back to the days when I worked and wore smart, colour co-ordinated tops and skirts! Why do I need 2 x identical blue, or black, or red M&S cardies? I don't!
Whilst putting everything back in I have colour co-ordinated everything and sorted out all trousers together, jeans together etc!!! Slight OCD I think!
Happy Sunday to all. x0 -
All freecycle items now collected, more coffee mugs into the charity shop box - I live alone, anyone tell me why I needed 32 coffee mugs?
Have to admit to rescuing a couple of make up brushes from the bin, I'm about to do some decoupage and will use them for that and throw them afterwards.
That takes my jan total to 211 - I'm definitely aiming for 300 in Jan... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hi everyone. I have been an avid follower of the 2013 thread and have loved reading everyone's progress. Now I am here on your shiny new thread that has 'How many?' posts already!
Having put the Christmas stuff away, normal chaos has resumed. It is now time to follow through what I have been saying 'I will *b*y, give to charity my stuff.' Basically something has to go.
One question. I have two charity bags of video cassettes that have sat by my lounge room door for the past 6months. Neither my OH or myself can bring ourselves to just throw them in the bin. Does anyone know if we can recycle them anywhere?
For now I am going to finish reading this new thread and I look forward to a prosperous and clutter free new year for all of us.Wishful Thinking is free!0 -
Finally did the last couple of kitchen cupboards yielding three britta filter packets (got rid of the filter thing ages ago) several old and dried up shoe polishes, a window cleaning squegee I've never used and two travel mugs. Also cleared out a few things that people had given me that we're never going to eat or drink. So I'm counting 10 items in total though I'm pretty sure it was more. I also finally took last week's yield to the CS. So that's me now 77/100 for the month.
I also got rid of as daily items:
A red T shirt that's too tight
A winter scarf I never liked
Binned an old bra that I loved but does nothing for me any more.
So that's me up to date with everything0
