I've had a very productive morning. Whilst busy decluttering my bf has attempted to clean the oven. Just as well as the amount of smoke generated last night, I'm surprised the fire brigade didn't turn up.

  • 1 trip to the charity shop with 2 sacks of books and 2 carrier bags of CDs that havent been played in yonks. I bought a cable for my misplaced external hard drive and accessed all of the CDs that I had copied. It is like having something new, that takes up a fraction of the space of hundreds of CDs. Hopefully my intermittent mp3 player will hold out until I can find a cheap replacement.
I drove past the paper banks and they were heaving with wrapping paper - no room for my 2011 Argos catalogue then!
The house is still demolished, so I think I will retreat to the swimming baths and face it later.
Enjoy shifting your unwanted stuff, you know it makes sense.

This time between Christmas and New Year is always an exciting time for me: new 'stuff' has come in but I've given out gifts and used up stores. Now it's time to clear away things that I don't want to take into the next year. Last push of 2014 :)

    Since last post:
    - Christmas gifts storage space very empty :T
    - lots of space in the cupboard after a pre-Christmas baking session
    - 40+ cards, 1 packet of paper chains, 4 rolls of wrapping paper, a roll of tape, a candle, 2 cops of ribbon, 1 sheet of stickers used up :T
    - 'dead' lap top cleared of files and recycled, along with dead iron, shredder and some cables
    - sons took all the recycling that is not included in the doorstep collection to the recycling centre for me
    - DD went home with 2 garments and 2 toiletry items
    - 5 items of clothing passed on to family members
    - fleece blanket given away
    - a 'new baby' gift passed on
    - old bath mat binned
    - son took possession of clothing/personal items from his old room
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Right. I've a bin bag of stuff to take to CS tomorrow:
    -an old LP!
-several tops that no longer fit (but I've kept them cos I wished they did)
    -couple of pairs of trousers
    -few unwanted Christmas decs.

Baby steps here we go. Let the declutter begin.
  • hi all !! well done on all your delcluttering and a belated Merry Christmas to you ! I am back on it now (when I can - I work long hours and suffer with fibro so get very tired). Today I declutterd a bin liner of rubbish to the tip and 2 big bags to the charity shop of books dvds clothes etc. really pleased. I am hoping to move into mine and my OHs house soon (we have a house and a mortgage but delayed moving in due to my health) so any decluttering will only help the big move ! xxx
:j First prizes back into comping after a break - romantic break to 2 to Venice/ Paris or Rome with romantic trip and a 42 inch TV and blu Ray amazing !

Thank you all so much and good luck guys and girls xxxxxx
  • Hi all

I lurk around here from time to time. I am fed up with not being able to put my clothes away when I am up to date with the laundry. However I struggle to get rid of things because all of the clothes in my wardrobe are things that I like and they do fit me. I simply have too much.

Because everything is stuffed into drawers or squashed onto hangers I can never find anything and its all just a big mess.

I have just taken out 25 things I can live without to go in one of those charity collection bags but I either need to get rid of more or store my clothes differently. I need advice! Maybe I should pack all of my summer clothes away somewhere but not sure where or how.

Hi Yorkshirelass, well done on taking the first step and off loading 25 unwanted items.
Pop over to the Crazy clothes challenge for tips on how to buy less clothing and make the best of what you have.

I pack my summer stuff in my holiday suitcase with tumble dryer sheets and put it in the loft. I have only got things for this season in my wardrobe at the moment. It is probably not the only way of doing it, but it works well enough.
Keep up the good work :T

I've been decluttering in 15 minute bursts this morning. Manage to bin a load of old makeup that I haven't worn for months. Also a pile of boxes / cardboard to go to the recycling. One charity bag is now full ready to go and I've opened another ready for the next burst.
