    Hello
Joining in if I may. After spending most of the year going hard at the clutter it shocks me that I can still find an item a day to remove quite easily. And my house is certainly not a white cube with no personal touches!
At the start of the year we got rid of all our cds. We raised over £100 for them on music magpie. Since then we've done three pass overs on the dvd stack. This time my 5 year old had a go at his dvds and we have £25 to come back which I will halve with him for his savings account.
I have also killed the shredding pile (again) filled a doorstep collection charity bag & helped son finish a lot of his comics up which I stopped buying him over a year ago. We keep what's left in a box & pick off activities, cutting out and pasting etc for days he is home from school or ill etc.
My husband has some time off work this week so we will be getting rid of more bigger items, & relocating some we want to keep but don't use up into the loft.

Have a happy decluttering week all.
    Bob

I have a week off work, so need to chuck some stuff out as it's starting to creep in again.
I have a large bag of nursing textbooks to pass on to a student nurse friend at the weekend. That will free up two shelves. :)

  • I think I should have a more structured routine to my decluttering. I ended up listing my recent decluttering on one of the hoarding threads as I felt I'd cleared out loads but couldn't see any significant reduction in 'stuff'! Perhaps I shoul set a number of items per week.
Today, I took a small box of broken electricals to the tip (on the way home from work). When I got home I found the broken hair straighteners that should have also been in the box. Sigh.

Currently have a box of beading and crafting supplies on the coffee table that need sorting.

Couple of more things sorted through.

    24. Hazelnut coffee syrup donated to my work colleagues

    25. Repurposed my ottoman to take my new bed linen.

Still working backshifts now going on to my third so not a lot of time to sort through and put away my summer clothes.

I threw away a dress today as the strap broke, it did have bleach spots on it too so I thought it should be binned.

I rearranged the second bedroom to make it look like an office yesterday as we may be selling our house soon. It doesn't have a bed in it so it will have to be seen as a study.:p I am going to go through the built in wardrobes when my hub is off work as I know there is clutter that can be thrown out or donated or sold.

I got rid of all the recycling too and emptied the bins.

    Hiya
If you find counting items as they leave motivating I recommend a game started by The Minimalists (you can look them up easily on google) you give away one item per day depending on the number of the month. So 1 item on day 1, 2 on day 2, 16 on day 16 etc. It is a brilliant way of focusing on what you have to achieve each day. I played for 2 months and have definately stripped a huge amount out of my home plus I enjoyed the discussions and other people's photos on the #minsgame hashtags on twitter. Just a suggestion.

Hi Bobarella, thanks for the suggestion.I might give it a try this week and see how I get on. If I declutter two things on day one can I carry one item over to day 2? ;)

    1. Decluttered a pair of shoes - sold on Ebay and posted today.
