I've hit a wall when it comes to decluttering as I have got rid of so much carp.:rotfl:

I need to go into every room again today and find some more stuff to take out. A lot of it is now my hubbie's stuff but I'm going to encourage him to sell some of it when he has some time off next month.

24 items out of my makeup bag/ dressing table drawer and recycled or binned.
2 sealed and unused items to CS box

Bought 4 new items, but I can now put all my makeup in a small makeup bag and zip it up: it is all stuff that I will use so, major result! :)
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • out this week
2 big bags of paperwork for the recycling bin
Bag of random crap from bedside table and drawers
Bag of baby clothes given away on facebook
    boots sold on ebay
  • A few things out in the last week or so -

    Foot scrub - used up
    Hair serum - used up
Hand cream that the tube had split - bin
Old sample of hair oil - bin
    Ancient concealer - bin
    Non working earphones - bin
Head of a toothbrush I no longer own - bin
Heated teddy gift - CS bag
    Book - CS bag
Stash of old birthdays cards - bin
A jar of HM roasted garlic oil I made in an attempt to recycle that been shoved to the back of a cupboard and never used - bin

Not sure if this is the best place for this but during my de-cluttering, I have also come across some items that I think might be good for Shoebox appeals. Things like soaps, body lotions, hand cream, small toys, flannel, toothbrush, tampons (including an unopened box), razor, playing cards, ladies sock slippers etc.

I don't really want to just throw these as they are new and but we don't have a use for them, but could be used by someone who would appreciate them. Can anyone point me in the right direction and on what is accepted and where to donate to? I don't mind putting little extras in them if needed :)

Hello carryonjulie, I hope this thread helps you as much as it helps me.

Have you thought about facebook selling pages for toys

Thank you. I'm not a big Facebook fan but I have joined a buy/sell group on there and will see how it goes. Thanks.

Visiting my mum and gave her huge amounts of stuff from my bathroom so that's a good start.

I made up a box of toiletries for the Give and Make Up project. It gives everyday essentials to woman and children in shelters and woman's aid that have had to leave their homes often with no toiletries, soap etc. They accept new and "lightly used" items.

Exactly the kind of thing I was looking for, I shall do some research for what's around my area, thanks :)

    Hello
I am new on this thread but have spent much of this year decluttering. One tool I have found really helpful is to join in with The Minimalist game over on twitter. If you are twitter folk just look up the #minsgame and you will find many people who are trying to declutter. The basic premise is that on day 1 of the month you get rid of 1 item from your home, day 2 two things, rising to 31 by the month end. I think if you total your daily items it's around 450 if you stick to it religiously. I played for 2 months straight & dip in & out of the hashtags each month for support & interest. Just knowing others are playing each day makes it quite addictive. I appreciate this thread is all about decluttering anyway and some may not like the idea of taking the discussion off line as it were but it may appeal to some.

Managed to get a few things decluttered the past few days. Been working double shifts so not had a lot of spare time.

    21. Tassimo machine parcelled up and returned to manufacturer for a repair.

    22. Recycled a load of paper and plastics

    23. Shredded a bag of paper.

I also think the challenge has rubbed off on my bf who is now making noises about me helping him out with his hoard.
