  • Cor! Every one is going great guns!! :T

I have shredded to within an inch of my life and the lovely dustybinmen took away the whole lot yesterday - I ended up with 8 recycling bags full

Also got rid of a box of clean glass jars and two tins of marmade to the same lady.

Have emptied a 32lts storage box so all is going well.

Should, i guess, set myself a target? I think I will start low - better to achieve a smaller target than disappoint myself by missing by a mile? So I am starting on 30 items to go in January.

I have decided not to set a target as such as I know there will be times I won't achieve anything! My aim is that at least something goes every week. I am not really counting the normal recycling as we always do that anyway. However, the old tatty books I mentioned in a previous post will be counted as 'extra' when they go into recycling because they are part of the clutter!

I also have a load of smellies and beauty products I don't use. I plan to eBay what I can, charity shop what I can't, use what I can and bin the rest.

If you have unused, or barely used, smellies, then the charity Give and Make Up will have it.

Everyone's doing brilliantly :T I'm having one of those busy days, but did manage to find a coat of DS1 that has seen better days, so:-

A quick pop in, two more items in CS bag - a scarf given to me by a kind friend and never worn and a stretchy black T shirt that was too long on me and alas didn't stretch enough to cover my bust fully lol. So that's me up to date. Although I could also count the red nail varnish I decluttered all over my kitchen floor, and the nail varnish remover and 2 kitchen rolls I decluttered cleaning it up. Won't be doing that again!

I also checked on ebay to see if I would be able to sell a coat that cost an absolute bomb, so I've put several similar on my watch list to see what they go for. Don't know if I could bear to sell it for very little money, I might prefer to send it to the CS. It would free up a lot of wardrobe space though, it's bulky.

Glad to hear you're all getting on so well.

i have just thrown 2 full boxes of choc liqueurs away, they have been in our room since last christmas - ive just tried a contreau one and it was horrible. They look dull and white and the liquid has absorbed into the choc.

got a letter from mind CS thanking us for the £48 extra the [STRIKE]tat [/STRIKE]donations weve taken in recently have raised, made me feel really good about the decluttering im doing expecially when its raising money for such a good cause.

Decluttered a bag of christmas jelly sweets in DS2s direction when he got home from school

    Can I join in please?
I have just binned a carrier bag of really old toiletries that were cluttering up my bathroom. I did feel bad binning them, but they were all super old so didn't want to donate them and find out they were toxic!
Cleaned bathroom as well so it's all sparkly and spacious in there now. :j

1st room done, not for the others. Planning a room a week, so I am sort of ahead of myself. Woohoo.
PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.
Now to start saving...it's a whole new world!!

  • Everything out of the wardrobe, everything tried on, items culled and packed away for first available carboot of the year, everything else neatly folded back in :D Aim for 2014 to not buy any more clothes. I really let it slide in the last 2 months, culminating with the arrival of a corset this morning in the post (I have gone off wearing corsets but I had to try this one just incase it was different *facepalm*). Buying the odd thing here and there on ebay or fb selling groups does mount up! I am somewhat ruthless in that if it doesn't fit it goes back out again but I need to stop the actual buying in the first place! I think I should unsubscribe from those groups - I seem to buy but never sell anything!
Must be rubbing off on the family though as grandma (massive hoarder - 'this year i'll get it sorted' - for the last 10 years) rang up and said could I come and giver her a hand she was sorting her wardrobe! Blow me down if we didn't come away with 3 HUGE bin liners for the CS! Well over 100 items. I think that a short sharp blast of decluttering is the way forward, also the fact that she wanted to declutter rather than me or my parents nagging her helped :) I casually mentioned about doing the kitchen cupboards next week and she said she's call on monday to arrange it. I call that progress :D

Carry on all fellow messies out there, you can do it :D

  • One outgrown kids toy sold via g tre .... £40:) cost me £25 at car boot 2 years ago and has been lovingly used so well chuffed! That is going into the sealed pot for weekly saving challenge... I'm not a saver by nature so it's a good start! dH said he would do the challenge too :) Decluttering under the bed has begun ... Loads of space now I have gotten rid of toy! Went through my box of purses and found£6:) 3 £2 coins I had stashed away months ago! Well pleased as that has gone to the pot too:) 1 bag of clothes ready for CS ... I reckon that brings me to about 100 items so far this year! This thread has inspired me... 5 mins reading here motivates me ;) many thanks all
