Big bag of clothes, two children's prams and a child's brick truck should all be collected by freecyclers tomorrow - that's quite a lot of bulky stuff, so I am pleased with that.
I'm not ebaying at the moment, as it's better for my sense of well being to get stuff out of the door quickly, rather than have it sit on a "to be ebayed" pile, as heaven knows when the day will come when I would get round to it.
I'm also trying to apply the "broken window" policy to rooms that are in good order, so am dealing with every small thing that goes into those rooms, so no clutter accumulates/mess occurs. Am hoping it will rub off on my DP, but am not holding my breath!0 -
Hi, I hope its ok if I join please? I am moving out of home later this year having just bought my first place with my partner and need to declutter a lot of stuff in my room as it could probably fill the whole house!Taking on my first mortgage in 20140

Can I join please? As fast as I decluttered in 2013 I seemed to restock. Argh!! Will be starting in earnest tomorrow as both kids will be at school. But I have a collection of DVDs and books that can go to the charity shop today.
I agree with Seabrights comment about waiting for things to sell on eBay and the like. We have sale groups locally on Facebook, but even then people seem to want something for nothing, so I am more inclined to give to the charity shop ATM and let it clutter up their stockrooms!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

Morning fellow declutterers
10 Ebay items going out today and about 200 more listed on Ebay
Back still playing up, so might have to take it easy again today. Have downloaded the Kindle app onto my ipad, so might be able to get rid of some of the piles of books I have.
Going to have a rummage in the freezer and do some meal plans as there is stuff in there that definitely needs using. As well a decluttering, I want this to be a year when I throw away less food. I'm embarrassed by the amount of stuff we binYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Hi all, can I join you too please? DH and I are rather bad at bulk buying, hoarding and generally accumulating stuff, which I then tend to just move around the house, without ever really sorting! Hindered by the fact that when I do get rid of something we haven't used for years, DH generally asks for it a week later! He is quite happy to have 'stuff' everywhere, whereas I am sure it's bad for the soul!Baileysonice wrote: »Oh I am the lead and charger queen. I did throw a load away a few days ago but I could still open a shop selling things that charge things but Im not entirely sure what
Same here... I did have a sort out a few years ago, but the result of that was that I now have two areas full of leads, instead of one!
I also store clutter in the car, especially recycling, which tends to take over the hallways in various stages of making it to the boxes outside or the tip. For some reason I can't seem to just take it downstairs and out in one go, so it sits on the landing instead!
I have a lot of empty jars, bottles, pots etc which DH threatens to use but never does, so they may have to be sneaked out!
We are in a 3 bed townhouse, lots of corners for things to hide in. 3 children so a LOT of stuff, though I did bin a LOT the boys toys last year (literally, slung boxfuls in a black sack, I was totally fed up with plastic carp all over the place! They weren't too bothered, soon got over it!).
Anyway... lots to get done, and 10am was my 'get going' aim for today, so let's see how far we get. My car broke down Saturday so DH is on the case with that today, one child at preschool, other two home on INSET but happily playing... Maybe I can find homes for the christmas presents, they tend to move around the house for a month before I decide to give them somewhere to live!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

1. Cleaned the bathroom and threw out the cleaning bottle as it was the last of the dregs.
2. Chucked away some flip flops the dogs had chewed.
3. Had a haircut at home so decluttered some hair into the bin.:p
4. I'm about to go through the drawer with the net/normal curtains and try and get some for the textile recycling.
5. I also am going to go through my shoes and boots to see what can be culled.
I am going to rearrange some stuff so I need to bring in a container from the shed so I wanted to make sure some stuff went out if I'm bringing something new in.

Reading this thread has inspired me this morning! :j
I have gathered together some unwanted Christmas gifts (including the 40" hip knickers from MIL - I am size 8/10) and put into a CS bag. This has led me on to sort another cupboard where I discovered I had 20 tea light holders - mostly ones I don't like! These now washed and in the CS bag also.
My goal now is to tackle somewhere new every day and spend an hour tidying/decluttering. My wardrobe will take some considerable time to downsize! I retired 30 months ago and all the smart work clothes are still swinging on the hangers. I reckon the majority could go!
I have boxes of ancient tattered books and have ascertained the local council will uplift these kerbside with fortnightly recycling. Will drip feed to the recycling box until all gone. They are too tatty for the CS.0 -
Hi
I'd love to join in
When my ex-husband moved out nearly 2 years ago alot of stuff just got shoved into cupboards and drawers in an attempt to make the flat 'mine' rather than 'ours'.. Finally feel its time to deal with all the clutter so am aiming for 100 items in January
So far
1. dvds/cds sorted to go to Zapper
2. All the ones zapper wouldn't take now by the door ready to go to cs tomorrow
3. Desk sorted and paperwork either recycled, filed or used to light the woodburner
4. Wedding budget paperwork burnt (very satisfying...)
Still lots to do but really feel I've made a positive startDeclutter 100 items in Jan 11/1000
