I'm living in a house with three mini hoarders and one big one. I have to sneak bags n the bin when dh is at work or else he will want to go through them eeeeeek. Today i have been for all the new school shoes, pumps, trainers and wellies for my three kids and have come home and binned the outgrown ones.

When the kids get back to school in 2 weeks im taking a black bin bag to every corner of this house i tell you. piles of junk everywhere and your not allowed to bin anything.

I have a pile for the charity shop.

The playroom will be first to see the cull closely followed by the kids bedrooms.

I have already done their wardrobes.

I now declare the war on junk has comenced in this house lol.

I've treated us to a new address book. This morning I sat and gathered together all the bits of paper, old party invites with telephone numbers and addresses on etc and wrote all the information in my new book. I have two old address books so everything is now condensed into one. This got rid of a pile of paper, now shredded.

I also went through a pile of recipes I have pulled from magazines. I got rid of some, the rest are now in a plastic wallet.

    Result! One nice tidy drawer.

Hello, I've been reading this thread as we're about to move house. I'm trying to declutter as much as possible before we move so we have less to move. I'm also 7 months pregnant so I think there's some major nesting going on!

    Today I have:
-Ordered some CD storage thingies from AMazon so I can store all DVD's and CD's in them and get rid of the cases.
-Got a bin bag full of maternity clothes that don't fit - listed 4 nice items on ebay.
-Will be tackling my filing cabinet tonight with 2 aims - one to change addresses of stuff I don't look at regularly (i.e. driving licence etc.)

Does anyone have any good suggestions or links to where I can get some decluttering advice? I want to know how long I have to keep bank statements and things for really. Just any other tips like the DVD one too!

I've just decluttered two lamps, my visiting sister has taken them. I've got a pair of shoes ready to go to the charity shop.

A few more things for the cs:

    2 x shirts
    Toilet roll holder
    Box of crayons
    4 x children's books.

I need to find an hour's worth of energy so that I can complete my clean up but I feel really tired. That's my excuse to stay in here :o

Thanks for the links. That's a great place to get started.

I went through a box of keys this afternoon. Found keys for tractors 20 years gone and houses we don't own anymore! The sorted keys are now labelled and put in logical bunches!
