fotw is reported to be a paid employee of op

*rolls eyes* you've been out on the water too long trying to find them fish ;)

Maybe that's where I've been going wrong though - should have people pay me to keep replying and answer peoples questions on the situation lol. Could make a fortune :p

what difference does it matter to you who brings your parcel

    see item
    click buy and pay
    seller delivers item

that hasn't inconvienienced you in any way

p+p is chargable no matter who delivers, its not illegal or any business of ebay. its at the sellers discretion.

Ok, in this looooooong, strange, repetitive and admittedly now quite pointless thread, I'll throw another of my h'pennys in:

I think what 'most everyone' here is MISSING is a fundamental personality type variation.

The attitude of most is 'what does it matter?/just say thanks' etc.

Now, call it 'uptight', 'neurotic' or whatever you like but some people just aren't so 'laid back' like this.
I have no difficulty at all in understanding where OP is coming from - and no sense at all that she is 'lying' about anything - as, to me, if someone ignored my communication (that they'd asked for!), and then presented their visog to me at close quarters, unexpectedly, at the front door to my castle and sanctuary - I'd be put out too!!

I don't like people ignoring my expressed wishes, it pushes one of my buttons - quite aside from the fact that when buying on Ebay, I am the CUSTOMER and personally, customer service is very important to me!

So, all in all, the seller in this case (seller/seller's rep, whatever it's all the same really), handled this sales transaction very strangely, imo, and it would do my noddle in if they'd transacted thus with me.

Still do not get what's so hard to get! Clearly down to personality types.

Fly, you seem to be defending the OP above and beyond....are you she?

FWIW I think the OP should put up barbed wired around her entire perimeter and have an intercom at the end of her path so she can vet the callers.

Or perhaps, just get a life?

You're missing the very simple crux of the matter, as are most on here. No need for such extremes.

op did provoke the knocker by the point to the sign and being shirty cant you read attitude. the knocker was therefore provoked by op who was surprised when knocker arrived.

the op is with holding info and not being entirely truthfull, part of this story is missing from op. as we know there are 2 side to every tale, and op has be caught wanting.

Oh for goodness' sake - delivery person is spouse of seller (ie. 'is' the seller to all intents and purposes)!
    Picking at nothing here?!

no matter what seller and knocker relationship is he may not have been informed by seller of the no don't dilliver he may have had 100 to deliver and got confused, he was male after all

Not getting the logic of your post. It's not the buyer's job to be concerned about the seller's husband's possible circumstances or psychology. That's just ridiculous, can't you see that?
Also, you keep saying the OP 'provoked' the caller - did she?? I think you're imagining this.

No, the point is that seller didn't do what they SAID they would do in listing.
And on top of that, they did this after asking buyer and then ignoring what she said anyway.
    Double whammy stupidity!

There is definitely someone very simple here......

What a storm in a teacup.

At least the Op isn't posting about anything terrible happening in the world eh!
