There was no need for the seller to react in such a way. The buyer hadn't agreed to that arrangement, pointing that out to the seller shouldn't lead to them getting threatened by an angry guy on their doorstep.
No, but it would never have got to that stage as I'd have responded in a sensible manner when the seller very kindly offered to hand deliver my item to me.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

They're implying that you're trolling or posting silly things due to being bored (like a school kid during holidays with nothing better to do).Nothing. But that's not what happened. It wasn't the seller that showed up. The seller has passed on my name and home address to someone uninvolved in the contract of sale, who has then appeared at my front door and become angry and threatening. How is that not in violation of eBay's policies?
You have a point about the sale and who it was with. Not sure ebay would see it as details being passed on as the two most likely live together and quite possibly both have access to the account. They may also say details have to be passed on for the item to be delivered.0 -

The seller passed on the package and your details to someone who brought you your package? How dare they? I'd be incensed if I were you!
Actually wait... Isn't that exactly how a courier operates?
Yes they shouldn't have got angry but can't you see how ridiculous you're being? The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Actually whilst trying to see both points of view I fear this has now wandered into the ridiculous.
Heaven forbid I should disclose my buyers details to anyone.....I'm sure the staff at the Post office will know exactly where to send my items even though I appear to be expected to use a blank address label.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The buyer did respond in a perfectly sensible manner. They turned down the offer with a good reason (appointment) and asked for it to be posted as it should have been.
When a seller ignores you and a guy turns up unannounced you have a right to say you didn't expect them. That's no reason for them to threaten you and get angry. It's not a stupid, unkind or threatening thing for you to point out you didn't agree to them coming, it's a fact. Never should saying such a simple thing lead to a situation like this.0 -

Who's we?
I'm not the only one who has said they understand where the OP is coming from.
Tell me what you would have done differently? Just the last part when the guy delivered the item or something before that?0 -

No, he shouldn't have reacted like that but the OP bought something and he was asked to drop it off, he was standing on the doorstep, the door had been opened and the OP was saying "No, take it away and post it to me".
What harm would it have done to accept the parcel? If the OP then wanted to leave a comment that the parcel had not been sent in the expected way, fair enough.0 -
I don't understand why any seller would deliver the parcels themselves. Is it worth the hassle? If they mention on the listing that they will post it, then this is what they should do.
For those who think the buyer should be thankful they received the item early; the buyer never asked for express delivery anyway.0
