Seller appears on doorstep...

the neutral means nothing but the low stars certainly do and likely to disproportionally affect a new seller with only a few sales. :-(
OP I fully accept your own opinion as to what you accept and choose to do ......
however it reinforces my own opinion as to why I never selling on Ebay any more :-(
When we used to sell we would some times drop off things , under the misguided idea that we where doing he buyer a favour ........ Item arrives early , Item arrives safe ( ie treated with respect and not handled like some couriers do) , Item is actually delivered, but we too had a complaint ( many more thank you's) . so this amongst other Ebay foibles led to no more sales ...... sad

If a buyer asks you not to do this though, you no that your not doing them a favour. Maybe next time they will listen to the buyer rather than do whatever they wantNeeding to lose weight start date 26 December 2011 current loss 60 pound Down. Lots more to go to get into my size 6 jeans0 -
I admit I've skipped a few pages of this thread so may have missed something, but do we know for sure that the seller ignored the buyer's reply? Maybe she just didn't receive it for one reason or another?0

We don't know for sure, but pretty silly to ask if she wasn't going to look.0 -
Of course it would be silly to ask and then intentionally neglect to check for a reply, but I mean what if she had a problem with her computer or internet or something? This happened to me recently and I had to phone a friend to ask him to log into my account and get a customer's address because I'd promised prompt postage. I could understand someone not going to that trouble (if they were be able to) to check just in case the customer had a problem with hand delivery, which is something almost anyone else would be fine with (not implying there's anything wrong with asking for postage instead, just that it's such an unusual response the seller might not have anticipated it if she were unable for some reason to read the OP's message).
ETA: From the seller's point of view, the question may seem analogous to something like asking to use the bathroom when visiting someone else's house: one asks out of courtesy rather than assuming permission, but one would be surprised if the answer was no.0 -

Lastly, I think you need to calm down, the tone of your last post came across rather aggressive to me. Your true colours have truly shown.
nothing worse than a woman scorned, :rotfl:
no wonder sellers rep retreated quickly;)0 -

There's so many ways to be able to access ebay if needed. Mobiles, cafes wi-fi (or other similar place), neighbours wif-fi (legally of course), friends or family, library etc. I know not everyone has all them luxuries, lives near a library/cafe and things can go wrong, but it does seem a bit of a weak excuse to say you couldn't possibly access it.
When it involves someone dropping in on someone you don't know at some point during the day you should be sure that it's ok. No assumptions. Especially when it's for your benefit (husband going by there) and could be distrupting the buyers day.
You can't predict how anyone will reply/act on ebay. This one forum alone shows how many weird questions sellers get, what odd things buyers do and how differently people see things and I'm sure there's many more websites showing exactly the same.0 -
some folk like hand delivery as they have posted saying so, even though a postal service was offered. best thing to do is to make delivery as you see fit regardless what buyer expects, worst that can happen is bad feed back and seller can even question that in response, and its not there forever, so not much fuss really. you cant please everyone all the time, so just concentrate on pleasing yourself.

The worst that can happen is you lose your ebay account, which is certainly not good if you're a business. Having no ebay account could affect a business badly in other ways (people often use ebay to market their site/shop for a start).0 -

how a seller delivers goods is nothing to do with ebay
