Aaahhh, just realised that I only have just over a week until DS's birthday:eek: . I have not bought a single present and he is supposed to be having a party but I have not got anything for it yet. DH does not get paid until the 5th and his b-day is on the 6th so it will be a bit tight. Where did June go?

oh what did you say that for??? my daughter is 13 on the 5th July I was trying to forget.. she isn't having a party but I will need to get her a cake and sort out a present of sorts for her.. I am thinking of a girly shopping trip.. she needs new clothes and I'll save money because she will choose what she wants and I would have to buy her some anyway.. maybe a trip to the cinema as well with a friend or 2 next weekend.. we shall see.

That sounds like my kind of gardening! How often do you need to do it? Does it kill everything or only little soft weeds? Even in between the paving I have GINORMOUS weeds.

You can also use a wallpaper stripper or a hot-air paint stripper gun. Be careful not to damamge surrounding plants, though. As you can see, I'd rather be in the garden again, than cleaning :o

Quick catch up from me. Think i have done more than i thought, although not as much as i would have liked as i have been on the computer too long. I may miss Playgroup tomorrow though and stay in if the roads are still flooded, cos basically i normally do a 10-15 minute drive, and it would be nearer 30-40 minutes if i have to go on the motorway, and i just can't justify that to myself. Will see in the morning anyway.

    Tuesday 26/6:
    [STRIKE]Deal with post[/STRIKE]
Make baby bottles about to do
Relist stuff to sell on amazon
    [STRIKE]Go and do a food shop[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Post rental DVD back[/STRIKE]
    Make some baby meals
[STRIKE]Wash at least 2 loads[/STRIKE] 4 done, mostly dried outside, although some bits were finished in TD, and some to go back on airers
    Wash my hair
Do some ironing (10 items at least)
    [STRIKE]Rescue towels from TD and fold/put away[/STRIKE]
    Make a dentist appointment
    Wrap friends baby pressie
    Extras:
    • new tyres sorted on DH's car
    • menu plan done for rest of week
    • unpacked toys from hols, and reblew up wobbly inflatable lion thing that MIL bought, and was poopered after that
    • unpacked DH's clean clothes, just mine and Charlie's to go now
I'm now going to work on a list for tomorrow, when hopefully DH will be back at work instead of using our Living room as his office. Spent most of the day preparing tea and snacks, and then trying to keep Charlie quiet while he was on the phone. I'm making him pack a bag though to put in the car cos if that dam goes, then he may not be home. I've said to him not to take risks and try to come home if that happens.

Anyway, need to run to the loo before CSI, so nighty night.

    Hi everyone,

just dashed in and out again yesterday and today - very busy with work this week! Thank goodness, we haven't had any rain during the last two days. I do hope that all of you with so much water are okay. How much do you want to bet there's a hosepipe ban in August??

Will be speedflying tomorrow, bit of a catch up and a lick and a promise.

And then early Thursday we are flying off to Carcassonne for a very quick break!! I am so excited about this! :j It is quite unlike me, I am usually very sensible and don't often do reckless extravagance. Blame the travel board. I don't know why this is called money-saving...it's cost me a fortune! But I'm worth it - I'm celebrating one of those landmark birthdays!:D

Will catch up with you all after the weekend. Take care.

    Hello!
I must say I'm finding this FlyLady thread must easier to follow that the FlyLady website baby steps etc - is it me or is there no really clear process to follow on the website?
Anyway, here's how I've done today:

Tuesday Living Room, Hall and Stairs

    Level 1
Dusting and cobweb removal (if you want to dust round things that is fine)
    Level 2
    Vacuum floors and sofas
Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
    Clean window
Clean TV, other electricals and cabinets
    Level 3
    Wipe light switches and banister
Clean any other glass like mirrors etc
    Tidy shoes, coats and bags
Vacuum under furniture (only if you won't hurt yourself doing it, don't want any injuries)
    Extra Mission:
Pick one or more of the following tasks –
    • Clear one hotspot (wires and clutter between TV and small sofa)
    • Sort towel cupboard/airing cupboard even if it's just for 10 minutes
    • Wipe the leaves of your plants
    • Sort through any magazines or paperwork lying around

You really should take your iron but the best thing is natural alternatives, green veg - the darker the better, and avoid tea (and diet coke) as the tannin stops you absorbing the iron so well. I also have been told that making sure you have plenty of vitamin C helps you absorb the iron.

I cannot talk as DD was born in Jan and I have not been taking my iron very frequently:o. I was on 4 a day during the pregnancy and was not allowed to give birth in the birthing centre. I know that I am not as low as I have been before though but could probably do with taking a few at the mo as I do feel rather tired. It is hard to know what is down to iron (or lack of) and what is to do with have a baby!

    How old is your DS?

    DS is 6 months.

The hospital prescribed me three per day - I was anaemic after the birth. I may have been anaemic before the birth, but the midwife never tested. I felt so poorly during pregnancy and because it was my first, I did not know what to chase. I have been putting off taking iron supplement because of their, erm, fundemental effect. :D

Cannot possibly blame DS too much, he sleeps through most nights, has since three months, and is absolutely gorgeous - I love him to bits.

May have clinical depression - I've suffered most of my adult life, we have just lost my MIL and my DH needs support (although he is brilliant to me). Or it may be just the weather :D I can always see loads of reasons why I might be run down, but I reckon that if I keep logging on here and doing what I can then at least I will get the motivation to keep going.

I could go on - I am on unpaid maternity leave and I suspect my work will find it difficult to welcome me back. They are actually a good firm, but their business is not geared around mothers. I have no fall back child care should DS get sent home from nursery/childminder for any reason, my mother passed away a few years ago. We need to sell our house before it falls down and it is currently too much of a tip to even consider! It goes on. My undercarriage is still seriously messed up, and the Drs are not exactly helpful. I am even getting bullied by a tabby cat that weighs less than my handbag (it's a question of who gets to sit in a chair!) I am trying to see the funny side and concentrate on the postive, my lovely DS. This thread is really helping, and I always feel more positive after reading it.

Anyway, this is seriously off topic :D I have got a load of washing done, achieved level one so far this week, thrown out a black bin bag each day and cuddled my little boy. I hit nearly all my dailies today, and I am optimistic about tomorrow.

Thank you for the advice. I may try to stock up on orange juice instead of the diet coke tomorrow - I will let you know how I get on.

Actually, if I blame the diet coke for everything, that might be the incentive to get me off it! Thank you!

    Hev

I had a hb count of about 5 after most of mine and within a few days my hb was back at my usual 9ish... I can't take iron tablets at all and refused a transfusion because of the risks associated.. I wouldn't take anything without having a blood test to check first.. it is more likely you are lacking certain vitamins.. especially if breastfeeding and the milk gets all the nutrients first so make sure baby gets the right stuff. I'd be more inclined to get something like a multivitamin supplement and try that for a few weeks. More liekly if you are having skin outbreaks or bruises or wounds are taking ages to heal.

I only have 1 child off school tomorrow.. the beastly ones are all back in the morning.. well.. we haven't been told otherwise yet.. so.. I'm off to get uniforms out.. WOOHOO!!!! I love school!!!! There are still a fair few closed though.. probably because the teachers can't get in but thankfully our primary only the head lives way out.. and we don't need her!

    Uniforms.. cuppa and bed methinks!
