We live in a country where thousands are without power, poverty is an increasing problem and many people can't find work.

Is having to ask for a receipt such a big deal, really?

Had you read my post I was seeking replies regarding an address to which I could write. Nowhere did I invite comments as to people's opinions on my issue and I was not obliged to reveal details of the grievance either. Had you read the post thoroughly you'll also have seen that I described the account as the short version. There are in fact wider far-reaching implications and this is something only they can answer. If you are unable to help or wish not to, do not post. Please refrain from posting sarcastic comments.
  • Your expectations really are beyond belief if you think this is an issue.
Your opinion does not interest me.
  • I cannot see how the simple task of having to ask for a receipt is apparently bad service!!

If they're paid to do a job, do it. If they're not up to the task, find something else.

no. but not giving out a receipt to save the paper will also put people out of work eventually, further increasing your ludicrous argument.

    some folk eh!!

They are doing the job as told, you yourself even said it was a policy. You come across as very unreasonable.

Anyone know of the e-mail address or place to write?
There is a Dundee address to write to on the Tesco Contact Us webpage:
    Tesco Customer Service Centre,
    Baird Avenue
    Dundee
    DD1 9NF
They also offer a web form there too.

It might just be me that's finding it tedious but it's getting very irritating that when people post a vent some muppet posts something like this. It seems to have happened a lot recently.

There is no relation to the OP's issue and the points raised above. If you're that bothered about them then stop posting on a forum and go and try and help solve these problems....

The convenience stores by their nature don't offer receipts and neither do some petrol stations; it is a sleazy way to push the profits up.

I've always been asked in the 3 separate shops I've visited frequently whether I'd like the receipt or not. One is in Essex, one is in Hertfordshire and one is in West London, so this may be store specific issue.
I've been a stickler for these things since a rotten experience in 2008 at a Spar shop when I didn't collect the receipt. Won't go into it but all I can say is I did address the issue of paper saving in the first thread, it doesn't clear the staff of their duty is asking.

If it's for work, or something that is expensive I'll always take a receipt. If it's not, I won't.

No paper saving at all, as far as I'm aware receipt is printed either way, then either taken/binned.

The problem with you saying you'd like a receipt at the start of the transaction is?

Because that is not the way it is done.
