Not happy with Tesco Express

Hi folks, most of my contributions concern parking charges in the motoring section. This is my debut elsewhere.

Does anyone know the procedure for making known one's dissatisfaction with Tesco Express? My problem concerns what to my knowledge one store is doing so this needs to go above those running that particular store and onto a higher level. Unfortunately www.tescoviews.com will not suffice because I am not prepared to carry out a friendly survey in which I answer dozens of question which are remove from my issue, only to have to raise the primary point in a few lines; I would like to write a letter of complaint.

The store in question is in Westbury, Wiltshire. The issue is a recent change in policy whereby they stop automatically printing receipts (to save paper) and only give to those that ask for them. I am fine with the paper-saving issue but not with the notion of the checkout assistant closing the sale before establishing whether you'd like a receipt. The new policy has played right into the hands of the indolent staff members who are not up to the task, some needed to be prompted even before when receipts did come out. I used to have to reach and pull it myself to make the point, the message didn't hit home and on that subject, I'd like to let them know how I feel (believe me, this is the short friendly version!!)

Anyone know of the e-mail address or place to write?

  • We live in a country where thousands are without power, poverty is an increasing problem and many people can't find work.

Is having to ask for a receipt such a big deal, really?

Have you already raised the issue with the store manager in the store?

They do this in other shops like JS locals but theres always a way to get a receipt if you need one and dont get one, they can print out receipts from the last 30 days or so if you forget to pick one up. Tescos systems must be the same, It also saves on the amount of rubbish around the till area.
  • The problem with you saying you'd like a receipt at the start of the transaction is?

I expect good customer service. Once upon a time it was provided, now it isn't. When I shop in Wilkinson, I am used to being given the receipt. When I shop at Matalan, I am used to being given the receipt. When I shop at Home Bargains, they give me the receipt without prompting. Tesco did until very recently; I'd like to let them know how I feel.

So you obviously didn't ask. That is just pure rudeness you doing that. You'll try and argue they should have given it but your behaviour is tenfold any of the staffs wrong doing.

I can't believe it's never dawned on you that your version of doing things is 10 times worse than the people you're trying to criticise!

The convenience stores by their nature don't offer receipts and neither do some petrol stations; it is a sleazy way to push the profits up.

I've been a stickler for these things since a rotten experience in 2008 at a Spar shop when I didn't collect the receipt. Won't go into it but all I can say is I did address the issue of paper saving in the first thread, it doesn't clear the staff of their duty is asking.

Yes, that is the source of the issue and the new order of things is written into the training manual thus promoting poor service.

I cannot see how the simple task of having to ask for a receipt is apparently bad service!!

Your expectations really are beyond belief if you think this is an issue.
