I found it on the D drive....and the shadow copy thing was there....
so I pressed delete.. I hope that was right

Just so I'm clear.

When you choose C: drive (step 2), you're not prompted with the disk cleanup dialog box - only if you choose drive at step 2?

yes I do get the disk cleanup dialog box when I choose drive C:


but the 'get rid of all the system restore things apart from the last one.. I couldn't see on the disk clean up thing on drive C
this thing:

1. If prompted, select the drive that you want to clean up, and then click OK.
2. Click the More Options tab, under System Restore and Shadow Copies, click Clean up.
3. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, click Delete.
4. Click Delete Files, and then click OK.
