New stairs carpet wearing after a week?!

We had new carpet installed 2 weeks ago. After a week we realised the stairs were wearing really badly where we are walking. We have vacuum it and tried to make the pile go the same way but no good. Is this normal? The carpet was from Carpet Right.
A good underlay was used too (Softwalk 9mm). What do you think?

Is it wear or the pile being pushed down?0

I am not sure. Probably the pile being pushed down.0

That's just what carpets do. You stand on them, they get flattened. Can't you hover?0

I vacuum it every other day. I have never had a carpet do this on the stairs before.0

And when you vacuum the pile comes back up. It's not wear, I bet your last carpet was a light colour.0 -
No the pile does not recover when we vacuum. Its the same.0

That's a bit of a sweeping statement.(No pun intended)Most piles should spring back into shape.Obviously some are better than others but agree yours does look bad.Carpetright should have advised you if they thought carpet was unsuitable for stairs.PasturesNew wrote: »That's just what carpets do. Should have yes, but at the cost of a sale they won't be honest.0 -
The carpet is this one - it says suitable for stairs

Not a fan of the big carpet firms, too profit motivated.
We've always used a small local carpet shop for our carpets and always chosen really high traffic carpet for stairs etc. The chap we deal with is always anxious to please and relies on repeat business, big firms beit carpets, sofas etc. its all about the particular salesman's bonus, he doesn't give a pooh if he sees you again as he'll probably be in another sales job anyway.0
