Sainsbury's have 1/3 off a lot of kitchen stuff until 11th March - well worth a look if anyone needs anything. And unlike clothes, you can order online :) I've just bought new plates, bowls and mugs as well as saucepans and casserole dishes. Oh, and a bin and a very nice light that weren't on offer, but we won't talk about that... :o We currently have a mish-mash of kitchen stuff that doesn't match (some of which dates back to our university days - and we graduated in 2001!), some of it is chipped, we have 'non-stick' saucepans that now stick like glue - it's all going in the bin or to the charity shop depending on condition, and then we'll have nice matching stuff like proper grown-ups :D

The other bit of domestic excitement that I need to share is that OH has agreed to us getting a retro fridge :j Our current fridge is built-in and so we do have to buy a new one when we move :) We're hoping to exchange contracts in the next couple of days, so I'm going to celebrate by ordering it - how very rock n' roll! :rotfl: Now need to decide between Smeg and Gorenje - think I'll go for the latter, as it's cheaper and has better reviews...

Hope everyone is well and is having a good weekend x

Evening ladies - wow it is quiet on here at the moment! Where has everyone got to?

We're ok - still loving the heat and A is coping very well with it. She is so desperate to walk; she is now leading us all round with one finger hold only and is able to stand for increasing periods each day :( my little baby is soon going to not be a baby. I took her to get some shoes the other day and the woman there said she cannot possibly be walking as her feet are too small for the shoes (her feet are between a size 2 and 3) and walking shoes were only available in size 4 and up. So we showed the lady... and she then helped me find some suitable.

Took her to the beach last week; she hates the sand, but loved the sea so long as her feet didn't touch the sand... rock pools were the way forward :D

Hope that everyone is ok and keeping well. On one hand I am very glad to be coming home, back to OH and my usual routine. On the other, I am going to struggle to manage with my very mobile little one and no help again. We get home on Friday so likely won't be back on before the weekend

    take care ladies
    Saf xx

(Edit to add) PS Nutella - Woohoo for your fridge :D and your "grown up kitchen" did make me chuckle x

Jealous of your fridge Nutella! Our new place has a built in one that hasn't been particularly well looked after...

Yay to shoes Saff! G was a small 3 when we got his first pair and clarks had no problem finding some for him. Which I then found 2 days later in another store's sale for £9. Kerching!

We had the mother of all meltdowns this evening - barely 10 minutes nap coupled with the upset of the move does not make for a happy G. OH is away mon-fir while he works his notice at his old job, and although G wasn't too upset while he was away (lots of standing at the window saying dada, but no tears) he is distraught if OH so much as leaves the room now he's been back for the weekend. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow morning when he wakes up and OH has already left.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Glad you feel better about LO's head MrsH. No, no, no, if your LO's nearly one, T's not far behind!

Hi ladies! Yes it has been quiet recently hasn't it?! All our LOs keeping us busy I guess.

Katie congrats on the move and hoping G doesn't get too upset about daddy not being there.

Nutella I have fridge envy!! We had an 'animated discussion! When we moved in as to which we should get and OH won with a boring one :( one day the dream fridge will be mine haha!

Hope A is enjoying he sunshine Saff and wearing her new shoes! Enjoy the rest of your trip!

We are having a surveyor in tomorrow to see what could be done to our kitchen/conservatory. The plan is to extend the wall out so we use our alleyway (terraced house) and gain more space for an open plan kitchen/conservatory we can actually use as our current is absolutely boiling in summer and freezing in winter! Has anyone had any seriously disruptive building work done with LOs? The value it would add to the house is worth doing it but with at least 4 months disruption and us effectively having to move out I'm not sure...

Thanks for all your fridge comments :) Whilst I'm tempted to get a red one as it'd look fab in the current kitchen, I think I'm going to be sensible and go for cream, as I think we're going to want to change the kitchen at some point. I've decided on Gorenje - it's the marmite of the fridge world (you love it or you hate it), but I think it's fab :D

Boo to boring fridge :( OH has always wanted a massive American one with two doors (which I really don't want), but it wouldn't fit in our new kitchen. What a shame :rotfl:

A friend of mine and her OH, who have a LO aged 21 months, bought a house in need of complete refurbishment last year - the kind of project that involves having a skip and a portaloo in your garden for a few months. They've found it tough at times, but have managed by one of them staying with LO at a relative's house every now and then whilst the other one manages builders. Oh, and by having a couple of spare stair gates that get moved around to block off dangerous spaces/rooms :o If I were you, I'd probably go for it - if the finances add up and you're getting a nicer house by the end of it, it'll be worth the inconvenience in the short term. There's never a 'good' time for these things and I think you just cope when you have to.
  • Evening all.

Finally ready to get back on here and keep in touch with you all. I had a tough day yesterday just crying on/off with missing my family and doing the old 'this time last day/week' thoughts which would just set me off crying again.

My lovely husband took today off. His boss is his mate so extremely lucky in that he organised it last night to be off today and told him why, it was without pay which is understandable. I burst into tears when he told me he was allowed the day off. I have felt a lot better and being settling back down into my normal routine.

I have signed Scarlett up for swimming, a bit late obviously but couldn't start it in February as just wouldn't of had the time to do it. So she will get 4 weeks in the under 6mths class and then move into the next group. Also start baby massage next week and course have my baby yoga still.

She is going to be one busy baby for March. Baby massage is only a 4 week course though.

Hope you all don't mind, but wanted to share a recent photo of her. On the 19th February we went and had a family photo shoot done, by that I mean my parents and sister and my husbands parents as that is Scarlett's family.

But I just love this one of her on her own.
