Aw sunshine that is amazing news! I don't have 2 but I can definitely understand that feeling as I think I'd really like a second but sometimes wonder how i could love them as much as my son. He's the absolute love of my life and centre of my world. So what your feeling is totally normal but I reckon he'll be completely fine!

Are you feeling excited though? Congrats!!

    (Thanks everyone for cot advice)

Ahhh thank you :) I go through moments of feeling really excited and then really weepy moments....very odd.

I'll much prefer it when we are 12 weeks and I can tell work/family and friends. You guys are my only avenue at the moment haha :)

Congratulations Sunshine! Wishing you everything of the best over the coming months

Thank you too Gilly for posting that poem; it is lovely

I have had the most awesome day with A today :D We have been battling tantrums for about the past two months; and we reached a peak on Friday... horrific!
But today not a single tantrum, I got her to have her after lunch nap in her bedroom and she had an hour and a half nap!!!! AMAZING day! We also got loads of errands done this morning - dry cleaners, foot measuring for A, foreign currency, card shopping, some fruit and this afternoon the post office and butchers! I also managed to make three phone calls today... Wow... amazing... such a lovely lovely day :D

I'm so pleased for you sunshine :D try not to worry!

I'm here for advice again (sorry! !). My partner takes our shared car to work everyday as he drops our son at nursery during the week. Anyway, today the car was parked in his work car park and his boss' dad (who works for company ) dropped a load of pallets from a fork lift onto our car! The back window is completely smashed and the boot dented . The problem is lo ' s pram was in the boot and is now covered with glass. I absolutely do not want to use it but as OH 'S work are covering the cost of the damage he is reluctant to start asking for extras covering and is hoping to vac it out. I don't want to but wondered what would you do? I'm actually so against using it I'd buy another from my own pocket but do feel they should cover it if they don't want us to claim on our insurance (where it would be replaced most likely )

Our car seat was fine. I've removed it and cleaned it just in case but miraculously there was no visible glass on it and the covers come off to wash and will be vacced as well. It's just the pram?

Congrats Sunshine, great news, I think I might cry a bit too, definately after reading that lovely poem Gilly! But it will be amazing.
Saf, well done for your lovely day. Ours didn't go so well, I was late for work because of the bad ice on the roads, and T had two forms to sign, from nursery, one for biting and one for scratching and generally a grumpy day all round.... it kind of picks me up knowing that someone else has had a nice day!
Bangton, boo, sounds like you're on the bad day list too! I have to say if the pram is still intact and not damaged in structure I'd vac out the glass, only if I could be sure that I'd stripped everything back to the bare metal. I understand how you'd feel you want it replacing.

  • Hey everyone! Been reading but rarely get time to log on these days. Big congrats sunshine, how lovely! Wow gilly that poem is lovely and made me well up. Very apt as we are about to start trying for our 2nd. I swing from being v.excited to nervous about how I will cope, more excited tho. I do worry about how ds will be with a sibling, and feel guilty about splitting myself..
Ds is 18.5mths now and getting so grown up. We have had a lot of colds and bugs this past while so I will be glad to see the warmer weather!

Hope everyone and lo's are well. Bangton I would hoover the pram too but personal choice for a new one. Gotta dash, should have been asleep by now, work tomorrow! Xx

Thanks girls. I hoovered it outside in the freezing cold and frame all scratched but nothing too major. I'll probably hoover it again before I put him in it!

Sorry you're day didn't go well either lazy! Hope you have a better one today!

Saffa - love days like that. Sorry to hear about the tantrums! My son started to have mini tantrums at only 12 months and he's actually getting worse - throwing things, including himself when he gets annoyed with things! And he smacks his head. (He's nearly 16 months now ). It's definitely frustration for him though! On the whole he's lovely but he prefers his dad these days and that's hard because he won't always let me comfort him or pushes me away. Anyone else get that? I cried last week over it because he's always been very even with his affection between us both!

Hope you're all well. I miss posting regularly as I'm busy with work and baby boy! Xx

Good news with the pushchair Bangton. T's like that, he's definately a big fan of daddym but I think only because he gets a bit more bored of me! It's nice though if I've been out doing something, he gets excited that Mummy's home and I realise he does still want me after all..... also if he's hurt he'll still come to me, mostly because it was a "boys activity" (carrying wood with Dad, or Dad giving him a hammer to hold!?!???!!) that caused it!

Hope that everyone has had a good day today?

I think the tantrums are sometimes frustration and other times just wanting to assert themselves.

Lol A is definitely a mommy's girl! It can be really, really wearing as much as I love her. And I know OH struggles with it; in his words: she tolerates him when I'm not around.

Her latest thing is helping me cook dinner. I have a step in the kitchen and she pushes it over to whichever counter I'm preparing dinner at, climbs up and then tells me the knife/peeler is "sharp!". She also helps me bring all the ingredients through from the utility/store room into the kitchen and pops them onto the counter.
Yesterday she helped me empty the dishwasher... carrying the plates into the kitchen, I heard her following me up the step calling "Mama, glass" as she carried two glasses into the kitchen, having stretched over and removed them from the top rack of the dishwasher! What a good little helper!

So challenging to meet the right balance between encouraging their help and enhancing their learning as well as ensuring their safety.

Hope that everyone has a good day tomorrow x
  • congratulations Sunshine! I'm sure LO will love his new sibling.

My LO is definitely a mummy's boy - he's all over me for cuddles especially if he's poorly or tired. It can be a bit annoying! especially if you want to get things done. Cooking is very hard if the choice is to pick up a heavy toddler and do it one handed or put up with the awful crying sound!

LO has been walking for about 2 weeks now, I feel sad that my baby is gone!
