I'm with sunshine, i am really really anal about in car safety, hence the rather large car seat bill this week. Id either enquire about leaving the seat or look into parking at the airport, sometimes you can park cheaper at one of those private car parks near airports, they definitely take your seat back and store it in your car for you as we've done it.
Just a little FYI, did everyone know that most car seats can't be used with the harness after 40lbs, it popped up on the Facebook group last week, and some people weren't aware. After 40lbs the harness is no longer safe and the seatbelt has to be used. They recommend a harness until 4 years old though and there are a few seats out there that will harness to 25kg. Just a heads up.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Common dilemma here, as we don't have a car and therefore use taxis every now and then - to and from airports, but also for the occasional local trip, e.g. to a theatre that's relatively near us but a pain to get to by public transport. We do have a 'proper' car seat, which is mainly used for nursery days out, but for taxis, our solution is this. Not ideal, but much better than nothing...0

John Lewis have Frugi bits in their sales quite often. It's gorgeous isn't it, and such lovely quality. Sells for a good price too.0

Thanks ladies
Nutella, I already have that on my shopping list for when A is older to save my folks buying a car seat for our infrequent visits. A isn't heavy enough yet; she's just shy of 12kg so I couldn't use it yet. Such a tough one! Think I am going to have to spend some time ringing round the local taxi companies.0 -
Saffa if you want one of those for future bgnappies.com have them half price today as there deal of the day, they're reputable Iv used them loads.

I know it's tough but if there's motorway driving involved at all Id try your best to use a seat. Who knows maybe one of the cab companies could supply one?The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I looked at airport parking today. Heathrow currently has a special offer on so managed to book parking for the duration of our time away for less than one way's taxi fare! So no car seat issue afterall
Been sorting through clothes today. Have some bits for A in the next size up (2-3) that she can wear on our trip and my mom has bought her some other bits too so think we're pretty much sorted. Just to fit everything into the cases...0 -

Hi Ladies
Great news you have sorted the car seat situation saff x
Quiet weekend here, A has been busy playing with all his Xmas toys and generally being like a little whirlwind.
We have some exciting news, feels a bit strange typing it here cos we can't tell anyone yet but we had a positive pregnancy test on Friday. This may sound very odd, but I have no where else to discuss it other than with OH - I'm really not sure how to feel about it all. We planned to have another, and I am really pleased that we are. I don't know if it's hormones or what, but I have spent the last 2 nights crying. I feel almost guilty for A, like he won't have my full attention anymore and it won't be just me and him.
I know he will be fine, he talks about babies quite a lot as a few of his close pals at nursery have siblings. And he is always fine when we visit friends with babies and I am having a hold. I just don't want him to feel pushed out or anything. We are planning to involve him with everything, picking clothes, pushchairs, decorating etc. And I want him to come to the scans too.
I don't know if anyone else on here has two, and is a regular reader - did you feel similar at all?
Damn pregnancy hormones hey.

Oh wow Sunshine - congratulations!
I completely understand your concerns, but I'm sure A will be absolutely fine. He's old enough to understand what's happening and to get involved in preparing for the new arrival. I'm sure he'll be a very proud big brother! Sending you a big hug, will be back in a bit x

Congratulations Sunshine super excited for you. I think it's very normal to feel that way. I have a lovely poem for you. Will post x
Edit: just to say about the scans, I think most hospitals prefer you not to take tiddlers to them, for the first one just incase its bad news, And with the second they're looking to make sure everything is as it should be and need to concentrate. I know some people get a private scan so they can take there little ones and just marvel at the baby in the tummy. Sorry if it sounds negative I don't mean to beThe frontier is never somewhere else.
