Hi Nutshell. I know it's no consolation, but some children are bad sleepers
That said, it sounds like your little one is struggling to sleep mostly when there is good reason like those pesky teeth. If she's having a growth spurt it might well explain why she's been waking up hungry (and wolfing down all that food and milk!).
There's really very little difference between the stages of formula, they just can't advertise any for under 6 months so whack some more vitamins and minerals in and market it as follow-on (note that they will get those vits etc from their food as long as they have a fairly balanced diet).
I'd agree with trying to get hubby to do a feed or two if this continues because you can't keep surviving on so little sleep.:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Nutella, see you're getting me back to bad habits of clicking through on the links that you post and spending lol, but thank you for the link for the elc sale; bought A some happyland bits for Christmas and have her ideas list for my mother in law ready. Just a couple of bits from Santa and we're done
Online shopping is SO the way forward when you have a small child!I've just ordered LO's outfit for the nursery Halloween party; I'm really pleased with it as I know she's going to love it
Your holiday sounds fab!0 -
Nutshell, welcome to the thread
I feel your pain re. the sleep issue! My LO is almost two and a half, and it's only in the past couple of months that she's been sleeping through the night. Prior to that we had a year of her waking up for the day at 4am after numerous night wake-ups and messy sleep, and for several months I could only get her back to sleep by picking her up and letting her stay in the big bed with me. I survived on a broken 5-ish hours a night for a year and a half whilst working full time - it was exhausting. So I don't have any solutions I'm afraid, but it WILL pass, and teeth, growth spurts & developmental leaps are definitely common culprits... Sending you a big hug x

Hello Again
I am more of a lurker than a poster however I was hoping you could offer some adviceMy thoughts are turning to Christmas and I have been trying to decide what to get my DS as his gifts. He will be one and our preference is for wooden/natural toys so I have got as far as some percussion instruments and a sorting cube. I only want to get him a couple of simple bits and wondered if anyone had any suggestions?

Hi Rummer! How about some stacking blocks that you can build towers with and then (the best bit!) knock them over? Or maybe something like this? Melissa and Doug also do a stacking train as well as various other wooden toys, and they're normally nice and sturdy and good quality
ETA: My LO was given a wooden jigsaw puzzle a bit like this one for her first birthday, and loved it. Goula have a few like this with four or five pieces and chunky little 'handles' perfect for little hands to grab0 -
Hi Nutshell and welcome
My LO is a pretty good sleeper but teeth pain wakes him up and keeps him awake - sometimes every hour. I basically drug him to sleep! I use Anbesol, Calprofen & Calpol. Nursery say bonjela works for him too. Pharmacy lady told me that you can use calprofen and calpol alongside each other, just make sure you stay under the maximums of each medication. One night he had anbesol and calprofen and he was still screaming! Thinking back I could have offered him calpol too but wasn't sure I could combine the meds. Big hugs 'cos sleep deprivation is awful and the only thing that makes it better is sleep!
Rummer there have been some lovely links posted on here with cheap wooden train track sets. I think I'm considering a John Lewis one.
Hi Crabapple, hope you & littlie are well
Well done on the Christmas shopping and cute Halloween outfit Nutella. Major achievements!

Thank youHer new wintershoes have just been delivered (perfect - we don't have to stay in all day waiting for them!) and she's in love. Very excited about her first ever shoelaces :rotfl:
That's it. No more shopping for me anytime soon!
Hope everyone has a lovely day x0 -
We just had a short break at center Parcs in longleat, lovely time. Started badly with baby very sick early morning before we left and then again in the evening once arrived. Got through 4 sleeping bags in 24hrs...! Was pleased to have packed lots of spare bits! But once that was over we had a good time, lovely accommodation and setting, log fire was a treat, swimming with baby was lovely. Food etc expensive but we mainly self catered and so worked out ok. Also in the last week we've had three new teeth (now has two on bottom and four on top!) and has dropped mid morning milk feed.
Thanks for ideas for baby's Christmas, our little one will be almost 11months. We have an old brio train set from my childhood! People are starting to ask for ideas so I might suggest wooden puzzles and a pull along toy. Plus books - he loves his books which is great.
Just had a big drop of second hand bits from my cousin so we're stocked for winter woollies. Might get some extra trousers though (hand me downs were worn through at the knees thanks to crawling!) and a wooly hat or two. I've bought baby a pumpkin tshirt from m&s as a nod to Halloween - we don't have a party to go to so a costume might be a bit OTT!fran-o0 -
Ooh Nutella, I LOVE those shoes! Wonder if I can convince OH that A NEED them?
We had an amazing holiday; so chilled yet we did loads too. And A was really easy too.
Have had a fab evening hosting 8 of my inlaws for dinner, and again we had a lovely evening with yummy dinner... So tomorrow, we will chill... Now, off to work on convincing OH needs those shoes0 -
Rummer - things I can think of (if you don't have them already) - wooden activity cube (they sell them everywhere! ), elc have a pull along duck (my son loves anything with wheels). Elc also have a wooden kitchen walker (or a tool bench aimed at boys). A wooden stacker (again can get them anywhere, ours is from elc and my son loves it even though it doesn't look like much ). There's also a wooden ride on trike at elc with a trailer attached (we were given ours and lo loves putting things in the trailer and taking them back out. Also loves been pushed along on it ).
Wooden hammer bench is a hit here (from John Lewis but again they are everywhere ). Try amazon. .there are loads of wooden bits on there too. I've seen a wooden activity table at elc but never bought it as so far lo doesn't care for them much.
I love buying toys! ! Our biggest hit (it's not wooden though ) is a vtech 3 in 1 ride on zebra which he likes pushing around and the toot toot drivers /animals from vtech are also great if you can bear the music and the fact they are plastic !
Nutshell - my son sounds similar. He can and will sleep through if he fancies it but more often than not he doesn't! Sometimes it's milk - we've had times he's wanted 3 bottles in the night! ! Other times he fancies a chat. .especially if dad goes to him. At the moment he has a cough and has just had his mmr so he's uncomfortable I think although most nights this week he's slept brilliantly bar waking up coughing.
Most nights I offer a bottle (he's still on first milk at one. I dilute the one bottle he has in the day with cows milk but not at night ) and then I sit it out till he goes to sleep! !
I also had a sicky baby who suffered (and still does ) with reflux. We always go to him immediately because he's frequently sick so of course he's probably learned he will get attention immediately!0
