  • aaw Nutella, I hope you get a home sorted soon.

MrsH my LO doesn't have asthma. Does your LO have it? I hope it's not too severe. Sunshine has just mentioned that her LO has asthma.

dippydooda welcome! co-sleeping is not a bad habit - it can be a great way to get sleep and it's good for attachment. My friend felt better about co-sleeping after reading the book 'what every parent needs to know' and it's all backed up with brain chemistry science.

Sunshine I still use my baby monitor but just the movement bit. I can usually hear bubs wherever I am. I like to check he's still breathing at night because he bumps his head so much! He's just turned one. The monitor can also do video and sound if needs be if I'm really worried.

Saffa thanks for the trike recommendation, that one looks reasonably priced plus I think there's an argos code floating around.

Thanks for disillusioning my hope that in another year she would be eating nicely without the tantrums lol

You're welcome! :p My LO was eating anything and everything until a few weeks ago, but she's going through a phase of asserting her independence and wanting to decide/do everything for herself, and this now also applies to food for the first time. She loves snack-like stuff (cheese, crackers, berries, grapes, apples, yoghurt, milk) as well as toast, muesli and porridge (so thankfully no tantrums at breakfast), but dinner is hard work! Here's hoping your LO is getting her fussy phase over and done with a bit earlier than mine :o

  • Hey sorry for the quick question and no explanation. Every time lo has a cough he ends up wheezing. He doesn't always get a cough with a cold but since Feb he's had 2 coughs that had led to wheezing, we have a blue inhaler which we have only used when he wheezed but the last couple of days it's not helped and he's still wheezed when he woke up from naps so we took him to the Dr and they've given us a brown steroid inhaler. My partner has asthma so obviously there is a link but I just don't get why he only gets this when he's got a cough, he never wheezes or gets breathless any other time. I just wondered what other lo are like with asthma?

E's is exactly like that - as is my own... we just manage with the blue inhaler at the moment when she's got it acting up as I don't really want to put her on the brown inhaler when she has long periods of time where it's perfectly fine. She doesn't have a formal asthma diagnosis - but the GP's basically told us they won't give the official label while she's so young but considering the family history and symptoms but that yep, it's childhood asthma with a good chance of her growing out of it. My own's similar - I'm fine for months and months but in the aftermath of a cough I'll be wheezing, particularly when I've just woken up, for a long while afterwards and needing an inhaler then.

G is exactly the same as your two Dizzi and MrsH2B, we've got a blue inhaler that we use very occasionally when he needs it.

Glad pre school has started so well for E Dizzi! I sat down to play with G for a minute when I dropped him off this morning and he shook his head and pushed me towards the door! Apparently I'm not welcome lol

The sun is back out here after a few days of rain so I've got all the windows open and heating off (gave in and switched it on earlier in the week). Happy almost weekend ladies :D

LO sounds adorable with her new scooter!!

It came with her to the bathroom this morning - clearly one could not be expected to brush one's teeth without the scooter being present! She told everybody at the nursery about it, and wasn't happy when she wasn't allowed to take it upstairs this evening (now that it's been outside, it's not going anywhere near carpets...). But she accepted it, kissed the handlebar and said 'goodnight scooter, see you tomorrow!' :o

Hiya, A wasn't diagnosed until he was 2. He had persistent coughs up until that point, I'm talking every single week someone would comment on him being chesty/wheezy/crackly etc. I was forever at the doctors with him, I dread to think how many times we have attended with a 'cough' we were given a blue inhaler when he was about 5 months old and if I'm honest I never noticed any difference when he had it. We occasionally had antibiotics but they never even touched the cough.
A was hospitalised for 9 days when he was 10 months old. He was struggling to breathe yet his chest was moving very quickly. He was put on oxygen for 7 days and monitored for 2. Even then they wouldn't diagnose asthma as they said he was too young.
Since then we had a brown inhaler which we use when he is particularly bad. He has improved massively in the last 6 months however he is regularly reviewed since his hospital stay, it was every 8 weeks and then dropped to every 6 months. They have told us he will more than likely grow out of it by the time he starts school.

His becomes worse when he gets quite excited, if he has been running around loads or at night time if it has been a particularly cold day. It runs in OHs family, but OH doesn't have it.

When he was smaller he would not tolerate the little chamber mask for the inhaler I had to do it in his sleep. Now he is bigger he likes it, calls it his 'breathe' haha.

  • yeah saffa I remember you and Lazywife. Is there a list of how old everyone's LOs are? Thanks Benicetomyself, I don't really feel too bad about the cosleeping, I have always done it as and when necessary and I really love it, he so snuggly. But I never sleep properly, sort of half awake, scared that he will fall out of bed or suffocate etc!
I have been seriously stressed this week, my work requires me to travel for training and next week is the first time since my mat leave ended in May. It's mon-fri and then mon- weds nearly 400 miles away! It's fair to say there have been a lot of tears this week. I just couldn't imagine sleeping away from my boy for 5 whole nights- anyone any experience of this or similar? i honestly thought i was having a breakdown! it has now been decided that OH and LO will come with me for 3 days so I have 2 nights on my own then home for weekend then 3 nights on my own. It's still going to be hard, but easier than the whole lot.
Aw poor babies haing asthma, I developed it as an adult and it's horrible not being able to catch a breathe so must be so scary for little 'uns
