Sunshine, we don't use a monitor anymore, but that's because we're in a flat and LO is loud! I do bring it to my parents' when we visit them, as they have a big house, and I'll definitely start using it again when we move house (if we ever do.... sigh!).

    Evening ladies :)

I am (most days) loving being the mother of a 17month old, though some days are especially hard... days when we have to stay in in particular! I've been trying out some different indoor activities as we get nearer to winter and have found some groups/activities (soft play, animal farm, music group, swimming) that we can do each day I am off - Yay!

I am also very proud to have gotten A to sleep on Saturday evening, without feeding her to sleep - for the first time ever! We were out, at my inlaws, and I changed her into her nightclothes and just cuddled her on my chest whilst the gathering went on around us... of course, since she has gone back to having a bf to sleep, but I know she can go to sleep without it. Now just to convince OH to try putting her down without me ;)

I still use a baby monitor, mainly because without it, I cannot hear A if she's upstairs and I'm downstairs.

fran-o, hope the cold clears up soon.

dizzi, glad that E loved preschool. Hope that the days have continued to be good!

Benice, we have a trike and A absolutely loves it; her favourite outside activity since I put the paddling pool away is going for a ride on her trike round the neighbourhood and waving at all the dogs/ cats and ducks along the way. We just got this one and she always wears a hat when on it... she removes the hat and we stop immediately so sunhat/ rain hood/ woolly hat just depending on the weather :o

cd, glad that LO had a lovely birthday :)

lazywife, I can get A to sit still for 20min by putting either Balamory on, or some nursery rhymes by Hooplakidz on Youtube. Bad mummy - or mummy preserving her sanity? In the last two weeks I have also been able to get her to "read to her baby (a doll)" which sometimes can keep her busy for up to 20min which is blissful. It is really, really hard work keeping a little person entertained and busy x Oh yes, and A also bites me a few times a week if I'm telling her "no" and she gets frustrated because I won't allow her to do whatever it is. She doesn't do this to anyone else... just one of those special treats she saves for mummy!

Hope that everyone has a lovely Wednesday
    Saff xx

We still use a baby monitor - well three... audio one that feeds to downstairs, audio one that feeds to upstairs (I got sick of unplugging it and carting it upstairs every night) and a video one that I can click onto the feed from on my phone if needs be but that doesn't get left running constantly.

With the pair of them sharing a room, with them both needing to be in beds because of being climbers and with the temptation of bunk beds in the room (we haven't got the ladder fitted and the top bunk doesn't get used as of yet - but they were going on Freecycle so I nabbed 'em when I could basically) I like to have the option to keep an eye on what they're doing... plus with the layout of our house you wouldn't hear them if you were downstairs unless they got REALLY loud. I'll probably stop using them when they stop working or we redecorate and move things around (they're plugged in behind some drawers that are fixed in to the wall) but at the moment, especially since "DON'T STAND ON YOUR SISTER" is a fairly regular thing shouted in this house - I need to keep an eye on 'em!

Preschool again tomorrow morning - going to stick little one's name on the waiting list as well - even though they take from 2 years - it's probably going to be next September before they have spaces as they're that full already.

hey ladies! Hope i can join you? I was very busy on the preggo threads back before i had my little one and can recognise some names from then, but somehow life has got in the way and i never found my way back here!
So I am a 33yr old mother of a fab 16 month old baby boy, well toddler now I guess! I am working full time again and loving being a mum, though he can be hard work at times!
He is currently going through a sleep regression phaze! Waking every night at spme point and not settling til we bring him into bed with us! Bad habit I know but when you're tired it's just the easiest way!
    Anyhow, nice to see y'all

No.... :o Our buyer's solicitor is still faffing and the lady at the top of the chain is still trying to find somewhere to rent. Sigh! Thanks for asking though x

    'NOOOOOO! Don't like it!'

Having taken one look at her veggie chilli, LO spends the next 15 minutes screaming hysterically. 'NOOOOO! Don't want it! Don't like it!'

She eventually stops, and tastes a tiny bit. Looks at me and says 'nice, mummy!'. Eats the lot, then hands me her bowl and says 'more?' :o

On a more positive note, she got a scooter today (we'd planned to wait until xmas, but changed our minds) and she's in love. The weather's been terrible today, so we cleared away rugs and tables and she's spent the entire day scooting around indoors. It had to come upstairs with her at nap time, and she's now asleep with it next to her bed :)

    Today's new expression: 'no ploblem!'

"No ploblem" that's so sweet. Baby's been mmm-ing today, discovered 'm'!

He's still got a cold, they seem to go on forever with babies don't they?! But did a good sleep last night (6hrs in a row) so that's good. Fingers crossed for tonight as Fridays I go to a baby group for which we have to be up and out promptly in the morning!

Hi dippydooda! I remember you from the pregnancy threads. Glad to hear that you're enjoying motherhood, and if you've read back a bit you'll know we all find them hard work at times ;)

lol Nutella, that sounds rather like my little one at the moment... offer her a yoghurt; get it smacked out my hand (with lid still on), pick it up offer again. "Noooo Noooo NOOOO" accompanied by violent head shaking. Remove lid of yoghurt, offer some. More screaming "NOOOO NOOO NOOOO". Hold head still and put tiny bit on her lips... she licks her lips whilst continuing to scream. Tastes it then "Ya Ya Ya" takes spoon out of my hand and feeds herself the yogurt. It does make it exhausting! Thanks for disillusioning my hope that in another year she would be eating nicely without the tantrums lol

take care ladies and here's hoping we all have a good night
