Thomas does the same Scarlet. I don't worry as he is putting on lots of weight xxDS born November 2013 :smileyhea0

As vic says if she is putting on weight then dont worry too much, I have went out so many times with sick in my hair or over my jeans.lol I never thought my mat leave would go in so quick, there is no way we could survive on dh wageMum of 2 :j0

Sorry I've been a bit absent, I have mastitis and am on antibiotics so things are a bit manic in the Foo household atm - having to express most feeds as it's just too sore
so feel as though I'm constantly holding baby and / or pump! It doesn't help that DH has been working late every night to try to prepare for his leave next week, which we are spending with the in-laws! Have only managed to briefly take Inara out so far, so a 2 hour journey each way and spending 4 nights in a different house is going to be a bit of a trial :rotfl: It'll be nice for his parents to see her again though, they're absolutely besotted and his Mum always looks a bit weepy when we have to end the facetime conversations.
**TMI alert - and yes, I'm aware this is slightly similar to Lily's dilemma yesterday lol**
Am now 3 weeks post section and my lochia had tailed off to being not a lot of that minging yellowish stuff... overnight it seems to have reverted to heavier bleeding though - no clots and not enough to soak a pad, but back to pretty much as it was immediately post-section. Do I just need to take things a bit easier or is it worth seeing a doctor? I'm already on antibiotics so don't really know what more they'd do anyway as I'm not running a temperature or showing any signs of a wound infection / retained products. Glad you managed to get sorted Lily and hope you and Clover are doing well
OTHG - that woman sound looooovely, try not to let her get to you, with any luck she was just having an 'oops, the baby made my brain fall out' moment and will be nicer next time you see her (if there's going to be a next time!)
Thank you to everyone who commented on umbilical hernias, it's really reassuring to 'know' others who've not experienced any issues as a result of theirs. It's very small compared to others I've seen (and Googled - bad Amy!) and doesn't bother Inara at all so I'm not concerned atm.
Vic - I feel your pain about the night time leaky boob situation! It's reached the stage where I'm considering sleeping on a towel to protect the bedding :rotfl:
Welcome Rummer!
MV - Inara's name is Arabic and means 'ray of light' or 'illuminating' depending on who you talk to. Having said that, she's totally named after a character from Firefly (a geeky sci-fi series that DH absolutely loves!) He suggested the name, and I liked it but said it could only go on the list if it was a 'real' (i.e. not made up for the series / based on an alien language) name, and it was. He then started referring to Bump as Inara at every opportunity until it stuck :rotfl:
KScarlet - Inara is the master (or should it be mistress?!?) of sneaky projectile vomiting... she'll usually be fine after a feed or sometimes spit up a small amount. Every now and then though she will do a MASSIVE projectile vomit, she's hit me when I'm sat a metre away! I think it's pretty normal, especially if baby's lying on their back at the time, they need to use some force to get it out I suppose.0 -

Katie - hello! Hope you won the ebay auction?! How is your house sale/purchase going? Sorry to read that G has hand foot and mouth, touch wood, we haven't had it and it has even been round the nursery! When I worked in nurseries I remember seeing a few babies with it and they looked very sorry for themselves. At least you have managed to get some air with him, nothing worse than being cooped up inside with a poorly one!

Hi! House sale is just plodding along at the moment thanks, its so tedious waiting for solicitors to get stuff done! Hoping either end of Jan/early Feb to get moved. Can't wait now, we had to leave a load of G's Christmas presents up at mil's (near our new house) as they just wouldn't fit here! Are you all settled into your new place now?
G has been pretty much ok with the hfm to be honest, his hands are covered in little blisters but they don't seem to bother him all that much. OH has it now though!
I'm still not up for baby2 yet, I feel like I'm just starting to get a hold on things and make some time for me. Not to mention how jealous G gets if I hold another baby! I couldn't bear seeing him like that if we had another. I know he'd get over it but it wouldn't be nice.

We get the projectile stuff sometimes when she hasn't come off mid feed but that doesn't help if your LO wants to keep feeding!
We have been thinking about nurseries too, where I live in south London the prices are astronomical and with waiting lists of up to 9 months! I'm still weighing it up as by my calculations I won't make much more than £30 a week going back to work and I'm just not sure it's worth it for the hassle of leaving her with strangers... If only if managed to get a better job before falling pregnant :S0 -
hi everyone, ive been missing in action the last few weeks. My LO is going to be 15 weeks Sunday, i really cant believe how quick it has gone i remember posting asking for advice when LO was having trouble with her feeding, seems so long ago now.
Shes so much better on the low lactose food that we get from the doctor and as a result so our life is calmer now, thank you to gilly for her advice at the time. Its a really joy to be LO's mum and i feel stupidly emotional still saying 'my daughter' even if its just asking for her prescription! The best part of my day has to be, being woken up by her giggly and the noises that shes making, i really think shes starting to like the sound of her own voice.
How is everyone else getting on? i know there were a few ladies that had their LO on the 6/10/13 as well, hope they are doing good and your out of the newborn haze, its true when people say it gets better but it was still hard to hear when your 6 weeks in and stressed and sleep deprived.:) Congratulations to abis as well i remember you on the other thread and its so lovely to see that your have had your LO.
Just wanted to ask a bit of advice on a few things. I noticed someones LO who is about the same age as mine sitting up straight in a bumbo, we have a bumbo and LO can sit in it but her neck isnt strong enough to hold straight it kinda leans to one side so im not putting her in it at the moment. She also favours one side in her moses and bouncer, never likes looking over her right, im changing her toys and the direction of things hoping to help it. She doesnt like tummy time and screams but we also have a problem with reflux, shes on gaviscon so she cant go down on her tummy so soon after food and timing it between feeds and naps and when shes happy means we really dont get that much time. She also has a bit of flatness on one side of her head, because she always sleeps facing the one direction. I mentioned this to my HV but they just brushed me off really saying that all babies develop differently and throw out the books which i know but i cant help worrying perhaps i should be doing more, more tummy time etc to help her. I dont have any other babies to compare her to so im not sure unless reading books whether she is doing ok. Its worrying to think my LO relies on me for her mental and physical development and i just want to do my best by her.
Also (TMI alert) anyone having problem with leaking? im still having lots of problem with leaking well more than leaking really.
I go to the toilet just as much as when i was pregnant through worry really not to let my bladder get too full as ive had accidents in the past- jumping up at a gig was surprising to say the least! good job i had dark jeans on! Also during sex, im not knowing im doing it but its leaking out only finding out afterwards (sorry said it was tmi) I found that very embrassing and shameful really as i didnt know that would happen.
I cant stop my wee during mid flow at all wheras i could before, i expected some problems afterwards but not this bad. Ive been to the doctors who has referred me to an incontience clinic (highlight of my day hearing that!) to check things out as i had a large cut and ventouse delivery that she thinks might have affected the muscles. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing anything similar?
It feels an achievement getting the time to post this with a cuppa while LO is happy and giggly on her playmat, its mad how some days you feel you make progress well im going to enjoy it even if its only for one day! Hope everyone else has a good day.0 -
Just a quick one Cleo. So glad to hear that things are calmer with the different milk.
I really would not worry about LO relying on you for development. She is still a newborn really, and it's not a bad thing at all for her to be doing this, so please try not to worry xxThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Cleo just want to say about your lo preferring "a side" keep re positioning her, so that she is regularly looking both ways, if she seems to have trouble looking one way more than another then get it checked out.
My lo now wears a helmet because one side of his head is flat and had a hv told me about it months ago we wouldn't be in this position.
Please don't think I'm saying anything is similar with your lo but just be aware
And don't worry over the tummy time, we had reflux and had the same problem, he's 10 months now and is hitting all his developmental milestones so your lo will be fine, there's babies that don't like tummy time anywayNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -

If it's not clotty or heavy, the midwife told me as your uterus contracts back it can cause bleeding as it's pushing out any extra 'leftovers'.0 -

I know its cliche but try not to compare LO with other babies as they really do all develop differently, my friends little boy was sat up from 5 months, whereas mine was 8 months. As long as there are no obvious developmental issues.
TBH I think babies will develop as quickly as they will develop, irrespective of things like tummy time. I've hardly had DD on her tummy and the HV was impressed with how well she could lift her head from the floor. Obviously I pretended I had been following the advice and had been putting her on her tummy. Both my sons on the other hand always seemed a bit behind physically (they're completely fine now). I put it down to the fact my boys were a lot bigger (and lazy) so had a lot to hold up, whereas DD is a little dot (11.5 at 14 weeks) so she doesn't have to work as hard to lift her head.
I've never had any problems with leakage (except when pregnant) but after DS2 I had a lot of muscle weakness in my back passage due to a 4 degree tear (not sure why it didn't affect my front bits as much). I never had any accidents but I did have to rush to the loo the first few months after. Pelvic floor exercises really did help so hopefully your physio will be able to give you the right exercises to help strengthen the muscles. I think instrumental deliveries can cause quite a lot of trauma that can't necessarily be seen.0
