Sorry for my gloomy post earlier in the week, just needed some space to talk! Things have improved through the week, had a few nice days including a day out with my mum, done a bit more blw/ finger food for baby which he seems to like more than being spoon fed, and just generally feeling brighter. Baby still biting while nursing so I might go to a bf clinic near me on Monday for advice if it continues... Have a nice weekend all x

Hugs fran-o for having a rough few weeks, I definitely found the work multiplied when we introduced solids! Glad you are well better !

Well c is nearly one, I can't believe it has gone so fast. It has been such a tough year small round with my MIL illness and passing and then Fil illness, feeling exhausted tbh and fed up of visiting in laws every bloody weekend, I would just love a break from them! Leaving aside the illnesses etc they are just bloody hard work!!!

Evening ladies, forgive me if I don't make much sense this evening - had an early morning party (1:30 - 4am ) with A... I was her exclusive guest :(

fran, I'm still bf at 15 and a half months and we've had a few periods of biting. Each time she bit me, I would yell ouch, smoosh her face into my boob (made her let go immediately) and then tell her no, and not let her latch again for at least 5 min. If someone else was around, I would pass her over and leave the room so she understood that it was not acceptable and I wouldn't tolerate it. It will pass.

With regards eating; relax... easier said than done I know! LO will ensure that they are getting what they need and somedays will eat more than others, somedays will eat next to nothing but just throw it all onto the floor... particularly disheartening if you've prepared something special. If you can manage to keep calm and not make a big deal of it, just keep offering a variety of foods LO will start eating and will increase the number of foods that they eat.

I did blw. When A started nursery at 12 months, every day the staff would tell me she didn't really eat etc etc, refused her lunch etc etc. Now, three months later she eats most things at nursery (still refuses icecream :o ) Oh yes, and even now, if she's got new teeth coming she'll go off her "favourites"

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend :D we're off to Airbourne tomorrow x
  • hi

just trying to declutter nursery and junk room so we have enough space to empty the nursery and finally decorate the nursery! OMG why do I have sooo much stuff. It's certainly making me more ruthless and also charitable LOL. I keep telling myself that it's like the 5k I keep running - keep on going and eventually it'll be done through sheer determination!

fran-o I haven't had any biting yet - no teeth at 11 months. Hope it gets resolved soon and I'm glad things are looking up x

lao_cat visiting does take it's toll. hope fil and mil get better soon.

Saffagal my LO is going to nursery at 12 months and totally BLW. He is getting fussier but still seems to eat loads. I hope the staff at his nursery will be a bit more understanding.

Benice, c is in nursery now 6 weeks it took a while for him to adjust to the food there tbh, we did blw and although they were supportive in general of it I think alot of the meals just were not suitable and they required a spoon to eat it, he doesn't take much milk during the day, I bf still in the morning, evening and through the night so I send him in with food, at the start 2 snacks and lunch but now just two snacks which they use if he refuses all or part of the meal. He has breakfast at home and tea so it works for us. When we stated blw he was less fussy tbh, but as he has no milk during the day I feel better knowing there are other options for him!!

My MIL sadly passed away about 2 months ago :(

Saf I feel your pain in the midnight parties, c was up
From 3-5 last night so wrecked this evening!
  • sorry to hear about your MIL Lao_cat. I think the nursery he's going to will have good BLW food apart from cereal in the morning - I think they'll give him weetabix which could be messy! They do a homecooked meal for lunch which he can easily eat with his hands and a sandwich for tea. Snacks are fruit which he'll be fine with. I'll pick him up about 5/ 5:30 so I can give him more food then if he wants.

A usually has breakfast at home, then snack, lunch, snack, tea and occasionally another snack at nursery. She's there from 8:45 -5:40 on her long days and usually has a little snack whilst we have dinner at 6:15. A few times shes had breakfast there too. When she was refusing their food they bought some of her favourites and offered them instead. Even now if she refuses the meal/tea they will offer her something else. Oh yes, and she eats things there that she won't eat at home!

On milk, I still bf am and pm. Nursery offer a cup of cows milk at lunch and for the first 6 weeks A just refused it. Now she drinks it and will drink it at home too.

I have found nursery's can be quite adaptable... But so can our LOs.

With the eating - what I found really helpful was to not worry about their intake over the course of a day - but look at it over the course of a week... it moves thinking "gawd they've had hardly anything down them today into more of a thinking... yeah well they had a picky day on Monday but they were a total glutbucket on Wednesday" and takes the pressure off quite a lot with that slight change in mindset.

In the middle of a mammoth toy/clothes clearout again - Robyn's hovering between 18-24 months and 2-3 years so to save space I'm passing her 18-24 month stuff on... that lines things up nicely so Erin's in 3-4 and some 4-5 which I can then promptly put straight into Robyn's wardrobe when Erin outgrows it and I don't have to have intermediate boxes of different age stuff stored all over the place like I did do. Also helps that I just take some biggish 2-3 years stuff out for emergency clothes and it'll fit both of 'em in the event of soggy clothing!

Finally sold the last double buggy - taken a couple of goes to get the two strollers we had (one in my husband's car and one up at my mum's) sold but they're gone now at least... now I really want a bounce and spin zebra for the little one since she had a go at someone's house the other week and loved it but the ones coming up in my acceptable price range are the far side of the city from here and I don't do ebay.
