I'm going to try keys. He loves keys. Thank you for the suggestions. I assume they do get bored of escaping eventually!!

apart from the nappy we've enjoyed him being on the move though. He has this independence now where mum/dad don't have to get things as he can reach them himself. Last week a couple of my mum's friends said I must hold him constantly otherwise he'd crawl by now which annoyed me a tad though! !

I don't hold my LO loads and he isn't even rolling! I would chalk it up to 'bl**dy stupid things people say that are really offensive about your parenting but they don't even realise how insulting it is'.
  • What a load of rubbish Bangton! My LO is/was held a lot and started crawling at 7 months. The boys I know are less bothered about crawling than the girls, but I am sure it's not related to the cuddles your lO enjoys!

Thanks Benice and Oscar. It does get my goat how silly some people are with their comments. I can't hold him all the time. . He's heavy!

I'd actually agree Oscar. We know lots of girl babies and they seem to be quicker than my son as reaching milestones. Having said that none of them seem interested in being on their feet which my son and the handful of boys we know are more happy standing or walking with their arms being held.

It's like with Benice ' your little man can't roll but he sounds amazing at eating whereas mine can roll but he's regularly sick after meals because of lumps (doctor confirmed it's normal and he's getting better) ... They all have their skills!

    Hi ladies!

I've found G has been quicker than most girls (and alot of boys we know) on the physical side of things, he was walking the length of the room easily by 10 months, but he's a little behind with his speech. As if he put all his energy into getting moving and only now starting to work on his language. But to say LO isn't crawling because she's held too much is just daft.

I'm a bit behind but another vote for the Antilop here, superb value and easy to clean. What's not to like?! G won't eat in his now though, he sits on a cushion on a normal chair - think he likes being more grown up :)

We went out for a treat this morning - sat by the window naming all the passing vehicles ("car car","bubu" (bus),"worwor" (lorry), "dada" (motorbike - OH just got one so G thinks every bike is Daddy's!)) in the sainsburys cafe nearby - cream tea for me and gingerbread man for small. Happy days :D

Exactly! I think they develop different skills at different times. Also my LO is quite content watching Cbeebies for hours so I figure that he can't be bothered to move cos the entertainment comes to him! I tend to try and change his position a lot - tummy time, lying down, bouncer chair and sitting with cushions around him. He definitely likes watching stuff so I think he's just learning lots from watching - he especially loves music too. At this point I am looking forward to him moving and being able to pick activities for himself a bit more.

My daughter does this too - 'daddy's bike' all excited when she sees or hears one no matter where we are. He is particularly offended if she says that about the lad over the road who rides a moped not a 'real bike' (his words!).

Kids are definitely all very different. I'm looking forward to seeing how our little man does things compared to his big sister (not comparing in the sense of better or worse btw!). He can already roll front to back, but who knows how long other things will take. Having got a toddler who will not stop talking or stay still for more than two seconds, I'm loving having a little one by contrast!

Had an awesome day and I feel like superwoman having been up to London to have lunch with colleagues and then on to dessert with an ex-colleague. Baby was very good, happy to be passed round a bit and took his naps on the bus rides (v convenient!). He pooed on the train ride home but was pleasantly surprised to discover suburban train loos have baby change! We went out at 10 and got home at 4 so I'm hoping he'll sleep well tonight! I will (if I get the chance!)

Quiet day tomorrow, going to a NHS weaning talk in the middle of the day...

Hope everyone well, thanks for your news :)

Hello ladies, please may I join you?

I have a six year old son and recently gave birth to Lyra Evangeline on 25 May on our kitchen floor after an 18 minute labour! She was still in her sac and had to be resuscitated so it was very hectic but she's all fine and is absolutely perfect!

I had an emotionally difficult pregnancy as I was worried that I would not be able to look after a girl due to some things which happened to me when I was younget, but thankfully we bonded straightaway and everything is going so well, I'm so pleased and am really enjoying her :j

I recognise some usernames from the pregnancy threads too :)

Welcome Mary. . so glad you've bonded well after a difficult pregnancy. 18 minutes! ! I bet that was a shock! congrats to you x

Benice - I'm the same with different positions all the time. mine has barely any interest in the telly. He does watch football though (I hope he's not going to be a massive fanatic fan. .I hate football! ! mind you that means football matches with dad and peace for me! !!)
