Thanks for all your news. A nice day out for us yesterday, baby in sling for a nice morning walk round nearby common, followed by lunch in a pub garden together. Having a dull day today, chilling and housework, but needed as house has got messy and with lack of sleep so have I!

Had a good chat with hubby yesterday as we'd been pretty disconnected. Not spending much time together, different priorities (he's really busy at work and focused there) and with me being so tired and irritable it felt like we were tolerating each other :( Good to have the chat and feel a bit better though there's an element of learning to accept certain changes. I really hope baby is ready to start going to bed earlier soon - baby usually sleeps 11.30pm-8am usually which means I'm going to bed after hubby and missing him in the morning too.

Busy week ahead so hoping for some good nights :)

Re high chairs.... Trying to choose between cheapy IKEA and mid range Phil and Ted Poppy. We've got some John Lewis vouchers which would take the sting out of going pricey. But is it worth it? Any advice?

  • the cheapest ikea is very easy to clean but no longer comes with the cushion that makes it suitable for very small babies. We got it from ebay anyway. The baby bud from mamas and papas is easier to adjust for my LO and has cushioning which is more comfortable.

I'd choose ikea any day, we bought an expensive chair and while we loved it, we are using an ikea one at my dad's ATM and it's fab. He's almost 2.5 and it's still great. So easy to clean, only bad thing is it doesn't fold down.

We have the basic IKEA one and love it; the legs pop out and the tray pops off so it can easily fit in the footwell of the seat A is in in the car if we need to take it out with us and it is SO easy to keep clean. We did buy the insert but I think I used it twice as when she was smaller found it easier to fold a towel behind her to bring her forward as it fitted better between the straps.

    Evening ladies :)

We have had a very lazy day here - mainly because I was watching Comrades marathon :o and have had minimal sleep over the weekend thanks to staying up to watch something with OH on Friday night, and A having a couple of early morning parties I was guest of honour at.

A has a new favourite song - if you're happy and you know it... she starts clapping as soon as I start singing it/it comes on. She's not quite got the foot stamping but is super cute doing nod your head! Love it!

I quite enjoyed being at work last week; I missed having A about, but enjoyed interacting with patients again and interacting on a professional level again.

Any advice on how to get A down with brushing teeth? She's had a brush to chew on for months and some days will do so, others not. She watches me brush mine, but as soon as I try to brush hers she twists her head and either clamps her mouth shut or screams whilst twisting from side to side? Is it just a case of perseverance?

I agree about enjoying LO NOT moving about... I think I've lost more weight in the past two months from chasing after her than the the previous 11 months since having her!

Have a good evening all x

We had several months of this, so I'd definitely argue that perseverance is necessary (one of my absolute non-negotiables; twice a day, irrespective of how much she'd protest) - she's now absolutely fine with it. Other things we tried with varying degrees of success included letting LO brush my teeth (with my brush) and/or those of a doll or teddy bear whilst I did hers, singing (she loves 'This is the way we brush our teeth'), letting her choose her own toothbrush in Boots, and having OH brush his teeth at the same time as me doing hers (with him being super-duper excited about the wonderful activity that is brushing your teeth of course :)). Oh, and a toothpaste that she enjoys helps too - we used Oral B with berry flavour and now have Aquafresh Milk Teeth, which I didn't think she'd like as it's mint flavoured, but she loves it,

    I've been Money Tipped!
Aw lovely to read that everyone enjoying their LOs.
We have the ikea high chair, it's great. I really like that it keeps them upright (a lot they seem to slope backwards, can't be good eating position) we only started using it about 7 months, until then we used the baby snug (M&P) that we had. It's a great position for the early days, but table doesn't lock on, so we had to move him into the high chair so we could strap him in. (I think they do a better one now)
Had a lovely day today, went to a garden party (part of DH social group) and T had a great time. I'm also quite proud of myself as made a fabric packaway high chair sling this morning from a couple of pillowcases! Didn't want to roll up with our high chair, but he wouldn't last 30 secs trying to eat on our lap. It worked really well and I'll wash and keep it in his change bag to use again.
Back in work tomorrow and DH's birthday, so I'll have to get a cake and think of something nice for tea on my lunch.

Thanks for advice re high chairs, think we'll be heading to IKEA to see the Antilop in real life and probably go with that. It gets rave reviews if you google it too!
