    I've been Money Tipped!
i would say just feed, or offer the breast quite often. T never had a problem with feeding, he'd feed all day if he could! But it was often every 2 hrs (occasionally every 1.5hrs, sometimes 3hrs).
DH cut T's nails with clipper the first time, nipped his thumb but thankfully didn't bleed. I now bit his finger nails and use clippers for his feet.
We did baby massage as part of baby yoga, I think it helped to combine it as he was still and chilled as part of the yoga to enjoy the massage. Used to go every Friday, so I've tried to include a bit of yoga & massage on a Friday for him at home.

    OMG what a day.....

I say I had a bad day but it probably wasn't if I compared what others bad days are like but I guess it was bad day for what I am used to.

Started off so well with Scarlett being on her tummy play mat for longer and actually reaching for the toys, then spent sometime in her swing with new toys attached and she was smiling away and blowing bubbles.

Then it all suddenly changed. She was so upset that I resorted to putting her in her moses basket but I had to swing it lightly to calm her down. Never done that before but couldn't do it long as was very very heavy, hahaha. But it did the trick...eventually. After nearly an hour of constand crying she was finally asleep.

Fast forward to roughly 5:30 pm and just ran a bath when she woke up. Hubby was cooking his tea (fussy eater so we often eat different food) and it was nearly ready. So I got re dressed and left the bath water, made her a bottle, went to fetch a bib and by the time I was back she was coughing and trying to clear lots of saliva.

Picked her up and it seemed forever to calm her down, I think in reality it was probably hardly anytime at all but she cried sooo loud and made herself so hot and red in the face I ended up stripping her down to her nappy and vest. She had little tears as well.

I panicked a bit because to me she seemed to be struggling with loads of saliva and in my head I was thinking she was really poorly. I can only assume it was saliva as it was all clear, nothing of any colour what so ever but occassionally some milk would come up as well.

We took her temperature, all was fine and then just suddenly whilst over my shoulder and me walking around she stopped. She was then her normal happy self, had her bottle and was all smiles and had time on her play mat.

If I sat her on my knee she had loads of saliva in her mouth and I was trying to clear it for her with a bib but she wasn't happy sitting up, she had to be over my shoulder.

Do people think maybe she has a cold coming on? So perhaps it was clear muscus she was trying to bring up?

I hate this guess work stuff. I really just wanted to bundle her in the car and go to hospital, but done that once before and I'm sure I'll get labelled an over the top mum soon enough.

hmmmmm that has got me thinking as I did go through a lot of bibs and tops today. She spent time in her swing before bed and I attached some different toys for her today, one which has hard plastic rings at the bottom and tonight after this stint of crying she held onto the rings and was bringing them to her mouth. I held the toy in place at one point so it was still for her and she put the rings in her mouth.

  • CD my LO is the same age as yours and he's been drooling and almost "choking" on it for the last week or so, he's been chewing his hand and although I can't feel any teeth along his bottom gum, there's a definite whiteness so it might well be the early start of teething.

    Evening ladies :)

I feel shattered tonight - I get that some babies need less sleep than others, but really?! A had one 10min nap whilst I drove to baby group and then a 25min nap when we came home. Apart from that she was up from 8 until 7:30 this evening!

lazywife thank you; I'm taking A to SA for five weeks on my own at the end of the month and DH said to me last night that he thinks before I go to SA I should go out and leave A with him for a good few hours (and if that goes ok) we should both go out and leave A with someone else for a little. Once I get back he wants us to start doing this more often to prepare her for going to nursery when I go back to work. Like you, DH will be dropping A at nursery and some days picking her up too. Some days he'll have to get her ready for bed too which he's never done!
I'm hoping to hear in the next week or so if my request to reduce my hours is approved or not. Fingers crossed!

A's got her two bottom teeth, but she's never had any "classic" signs of teething - she's never been dribbly/ had nasty nappies/ red cheeks etc. Also, remember that putting things to their mouths is a developmental stage - it is the way that they learn about the world around them and why LO's put everything into their mouth.

A was slow to gain weight initially and I just used to offer a bf every time she niggled in the early days. Actually, some days I still do this if shes being impossible and I've tried everything else.

anyway, off to bed for me.
Night all and to all a good night x

Aww chick. You know where I am if you need a chat. I'm sorry your other little one is playing up. Hugs xx

Thomas is now into 0-3 months. I packed away the newborn stuff as his legs are too long for it.

Thanks lovely :) might take you up on that! Sounds like Thomas is thriving! C is now 10lbs, proper little chunk! X

I originally wrote a massive post commenting on what everyone had written but my phone lost it and I've no idea of everything I said! DD is 6 weeks and managing longer stretches at night, 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep last night it was wonderful.

Hugs Continual sounds like a cold or teething, my son started teething at 8 weeks, I am hoping my little girl will hold off a while! I've heard great things about amber necklaces/ anklets for teething babies although I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea x

CD Rebecca does the same things - she will be happily gnawing on her fist one minute & then the next she is full blown crying with tears - like she is being murdered

We go through at least 5 bibs per day through drool alone!

We either think she is teething (no red cheeks but have had some funny nappies!) or she bites & hurts her own fingers!

I'm guessing it was a fluke! 2 nights in a row! She has gained 2lbs 2 oz in a week so I'm hoping her tummy is getting bigger so she can sleep a bit longer. It would be lovely to have a few more nights like that as it helps! She's awake more during the day and I think her play gym tires her out bless. Wow 12lb 2oz! BFing must be going great well done you! X
