Happy birthday to Saffa's LO, sorry it's a bit late.
Baby groups - we go to one, if I'm not working, but only really talk to a couple of the mums so it'll be strange when her LO turns one next month and they aren't there. Can finally take her to morning groups now as she used to sleep around 10-12 so there was never any point, so going to try and find a nice one for a change of scene once a week0 -
Ladies, thanks so much for all your ideas for garden toys - you're all wonderful
Serendisglair, we do have a small watering can that I'd completely forgotten about, so I will definitely dig that out, and we also have bubbles somewhere. Rummer, I love some of the ideas for smaller stuff, as I don't want to invest in larger items until we move house, but can't wait to explore playhouses and the like! Although at this rate, it'll be autumn before we move, and all the outdoor stuff will be on offer
OH bought an airflow bouncy castle in Tesco one year in October reduced from £150 to £30 :money: we use it every summer
Always buy garden stuff in the autumn if it's cheap, oh and (fake) Christmas trees on Christmas eve or close, they reduce them hugely after the first week in December, fantastic to replace one for the following year :rotfl:and wrapping paper on boxing day, and extra school supplies in October/November :rotfl: Got it all sussed, me:o
Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Hmmmm, why exactly does my child think it's a good idea to put my shoes in the oven?!....0

Lol Nutella - that did make me smile... I'm sure A will move onto that - she is utterly obsessed with my shoes!
Thank you for her birthday wishesWe had a lovely day and despite me thinking she would have a meltdown in the afternoon (as she only had a half hour nap in the morning) she was beautifully behaved, played nicely, gave cuddles, walked about, ate beautifully and went to bed easily and quietly at her usual bedtime (despite us still having a houseful!)
For the past week she has woken each morning at 6:20... which actually, I am ok with if she continues as I go back to work in 2 weeks time and that gives me long enough to give her a feed before I will need to leave for work at 7. OH has just realised that he is going to have her for at least an hour each morning... and he is not liking the realisation! Hehehe
Re baby groups; we go to one which is from newborn to 18months. There are a load of toys out and the little ones play/cry etc. I am quite shy but have gone most weeks and now always have a chat with some of the mums as there are a few regulars. I also go to a music group on Fridays (with some of the same moms from Thursday's group) and after music a group of us (between 3 and 8) go for a coffee which I really enjoy as it gives me some adult conversation, and A likes seeing other children.
A lot of the time I listen to the others talking, especially when we're a bigger group, but it has been important for my sanity.
I know A is much younger than your LO Nutella, but she has spent the past two afternoons playing with an empty plant container, some water and a smaller plant container that fits into the first... she got rather dirty and a bit damp but absolutely loved it!
Delain, I'm going to keep an eye out at the end of summer for some outdoor toys that I could put away for next year's birthday
I've a bit of a quandry at the moment. My cat can be very loving and affectionate, but she has a very short fuse and can be really vicious. A loves her and regularly tries to play with her - throwing a toy for her to chase, giving her a book to read, trying to put a necklace on her etc etc. My cat has scratched A a couple of times before, more as a warning or if A has woken her suddenly but today she scratched A really badly on her hand. I'm worried it is going to get worse instead of better as A gets older as the cat is likely to feel more threatened not less so? Does anyone have any suggestions I could try? I already have a feliway diffuser0 -
CD, good luck with your decision on Thursday. Best advice I can give you is go with you instinct and remember, it isn't set in stone. You may decide on something now but once you're actually using it may feel something else would suit better and if so, you can change.
A has her first settling in session this Friday. I think she'll be fine, but it could go either way!0 -
Nutella the shoes don't taste right unless they're crispy of course!
Saffagal I have no suggestions but it must be very difficult. We built a conservatory for our cats and they moved out the day baby moved in! They were spraying and peeing everywhere so we decided it would be best if bubs was raised in a more hygenic house!0 -
urgh! Having looked forward to going back to work I'm dreading it. me and lo have spent 2 days at home alone together and he's been a little gem. He's so smiley and tbh all for his mum at moment (and I love it! ). How am I supposed to leave him at nursery? ! I can't bear the idea anymore.
I know I'm like every mum and the same post has probably been done over and over again but I guess I've been thinking 'money! ' to get me past being bothered about leaving him. Now I just don't want to! !
my boss said if I feel like crying when I'm at work it's fine because she did too and to speak out. Thank god she said that as at least I know someone's there if I need a pep talk.
I can't even go on a night out when he's in bed. They say seperation anxiety kicks in around a bout now. .I didn't realise it would be me! !!!!!
hope everyone else is well and the babies are all sleeping. mine got up at 4 this morning! How's that fair? ?!
Regards floor coverings. . We currently have a summer duvet covered by a throw! so im interested in what everyone else does. I personally couldn't find anything thick enough for my liking!0 -

Ah, that'll be why - thanks for clarifying! :rotfl:0 -
My baby is not sleeping Bangton so don't feel alone! She had her first set of injections yesterday so she's been more fussy and asleep most of today - meaning she'll probably be awake tonight again. Sob, no nap for me today either as DS dropped his nap a few weeks ago.
I've just got a fleece blanket for DD to lie on and if she's on tiles I just pop a towel down as well.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Evening all
Took A to be weighed today as wanted a 1 year weight (and there are no 1 year checks in my area) and managed to get her jabs brought forward to today. She had an appt for next week which I tried to change the day that I received it due to A starting nursery proper next week but the receptionist refused because she would only be 1 year and 4 days, not 1year, 1 week and 4 days so would be too young. I said as much to the health visitor and my reason for wanting it done this week and within 10 minutes we'd had the jabs and were on our way again
Went up to London today to vote - wow! There were so many Saffa's out todayIt was awesome to see the turnout. I felt really proud to be South African... and having A with me was a massive bonus as I got moved through the queue at record speed because I had a baby with me
A was good as gold both on the train and whilst I was in the embassy. After we walked around Trafalgar Square chasing pigeons which A loved hehe
Hope that everyone else has had a good day x0
