  • aaaw Saffa sounds like you had a great day.

got LO weighed yesterday and he'd gained nearly 2lbs in 5 weeks (from 6.5 mths to 7.5mths)! after all that worrying about small weight gains up to 6 months. I guess BLW is going well then lol. I made a fish pie from scratch yesterday and LO managed to eat all of it including carrots and broccoli :) proud mummy. I got rid of the second hand highchair and got an ikea antilop and LO is doing much better with it.

Bangton glad you had some lovely days with LO at home. I had to keep LO at home for a few days recently cos he was ill and he was lovely. I was surprised at how much he slept! Sorry LO is waking at 4. For me LO has been waking consistently at 4 for the past few nights but that's a triumph cos I finally get 5 hours in bed alone!

with floor coverings we use a blanket on carpet. I bought an ikea play rug/ mat to use on laminate flooring.

My cat is due to have kittens at about half term, ready to go in Summer hols... If anyone local to me is interested please do PM, they will be free to loving homes, and baby friendly.

I'm not advertising (as such) just responding to what saffagal says as the cat herself, the dad of the kittens and the older kittens from before have been the most patient cats ever. The dad kitty actually lets his owner's 5 yo dress him in dolls clothes!

Hope everyone else is well, rainy and wet here this morning :(

That's lovely news re the weight gain BeNice. I had my LO weighed this week too and she has been gaining nicely and is now back above the 25th centile from having dropped below the 2nd at 4 months.

Fab new re weight gains. I'm taking lo tomorrow morning, it will be her 1st time getting weighed since starting to have food so anxious to see if it's made any difference to her usual 1lb gain each mth.

Well lo is sorted for nursery. Signed her up for nursery 2 for those who remember me mentioning the options. I've contacted other child minders and nurseries in the week but no other nurseries were at all suitable.

Child minders were either full or didn't have all the 3 days available that I needed so didn't end up visiting any. Talking to a colleague at work on Monday anyway made me realise that being forced into looking at nurseries turned out for the best anyway. She told me how her mum (child minder) was ill one day so she contacted her 2nd back up child minder who was unavailable so had to have a day off work due to no childcare arrangements.

Work then only paid her for 1/2 a day. As daft as it sounds I hadn't thought of that situation and we have no family who could suddenly look after lo for us so it's reassuring to know that the only time I'll have to take off work is if I am ill or lo is.

As it turned out 1 child minder had spaces for lo but was on holiday for the 1st two weeks of June and said if I could work something out whilst she was on holiday then she'd happily look after lo. Like I said above we don't have anyone who can suddenly step it.

Felt nervous this morning though at the thought of taking the enrolment form in and paying the deposit as it's just a horrible feeling knowing my time at home with her is nearing an end.

Whilst I know I have to get back to normal, well new normal of working 3 days a week it's just so sad that 8 mths of it just being her and I Mon - Fri has gone so quick. To think I'll never have so much time with her back is heart breaking.

Sorry CD, I do know the feeling of having to go back to work and it feels so odd. 3 days is lovely though, you still get time with your baby but you also get time with adults! I had to go back to a job I hated and it was awful, but I did have lovely colleagues who I missed.

It's also really odd leaving your baby with other people but they, and you, adapt really quickly. My daughter still goes to her nursery one day a week while I am on mat leave, and loves it to bits. Tonight when I picked her up she refused to leave and I actually had to carry her out while she threw a tantrum. The only thing that made it better was that there was another mum in exactly the same situation!!

My little man is just lush, I'm loving seeing him smile and how much he interacts with us now. We went to a real nappy event earlier and he was charming several of the mums and apparently making them broody!

CD, the not having family around as back up is the main reason why I chose a nursery for my childcare. Well done on making a decision and that nursery does sound fab!

A has her first settling in session tomorrow and I'm terrified - what if she doesn't like them? She's usually very easy going, but I have never really left her as don't really have anyone to leave her with. I'm also gutted that it means in a week and a half I have to return to work.

Tonight I am fuming at work though and have also drafted several resignation letters... I couldn't have the equivalent of my previous post because - in my official letter - they couldn't accommodate part time working. Well today an advert has gone out for essentially my old post and it states part time will be considered. I'm so !!!!ed off as I loved that job and the one I was given is not one I'd ever have even applied for :(

Crabapple, I carried A down the high street of the nearby town having a tantrum this afternoon: we were walking back to the car from baby group and it started raining hard so I picked her up as would get back to the car sooner. She struggled and screamed all the way down the high street because she wanted to walk... never mind it was tipping it down!

Crabapple - glad you mentioned that with the nursery. Hope my son loves it that much.

Well done on weight gain Benice - jealous of the weaning .. We've regressed here.. doesn't want anything solid. Drinks from an open cup though with my help which is brill as he didn't take to sippies!

Great choice CD, glad you've found something to suit.
Glad everyones LOs are weighing in well, we haven't weighed T in ages, sort of fell out of the habit as he's gone to every 2 months, might get a 12 month weigh in though Saf, sounds like a good idea.

My girls are 18 months old today. I feel sad that they are growing up so fast, I've felt weepy all day :(

I feel like I need time to slow down so I can appreciate every moment with them. I don't have as much time to take everything as I'd like as I'm on the go all day long

    Please tell me that's normal!

    morning

lol Cake no wonder you're on the go with twins! I think it's understandable to want to remember. I keep wondering if I'll remember LO being this small. I'm just trying to take lots of photos of everything so I can scrapbook them later. I'm frantically taking photos of his 3-6 months clothes 'cos he's gonna grow out of them soon lol.

Bangton I'm envious that your baby drinks out of a cup. LO doesn't know what to do with a sippy. When he drinks out of an open cup, I hold it for him and loads of it drips down his chin!

Saffa that is silly about your job. Could you ask your union for help?

Crabapple after all the screaming I've had in babygroups, I think carrying out LO screaming when he's a toddler is inevitable!

CD nursery 2 did sound great. I think sickness is one of the reasons people frequently pick nurseries over childminders.

Oscar glad LO is doing well on their weight too.
