  • Bangton when my lo cut his first tooth, he was crying and generally not himself to the point I was in tears. I rang my oh to come home from work and as he was on his way I stuck my hand in Los mouth and there was a tooth. But I was an absolute mess because he was only 6 months old and was acting like a completely different cryey whingey baby. So sympathies from me :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Aw MrsH, it's not nice to see LO struggling with food. Is he too tired to concentrate on chewing properly? Or like you say maybe full.

BeNice: We did BLW and gave water in a tippee cup (free flow) with meals. It means he's progressed nicely on to it and now drinks cows milk between meals from it no problem. Try to keep an eye that they don't drink too much (about 30 ml/ 1oz is about right) so they don't go off milk feeds too quickly, but in my experience he didn't drink that much to start with. (I tended to fill it up though as easier to get it out rather than tipping it up to get the last little bit out & then he just drank what he fancied). Hopefully your kitchen will be done soon (or the weather warms up and you can eat outside!)

Big hugs Bangton, hopefully he'll be right as rain soon.x

  • Evening all.

Been a bit crazy these past few days for us. LO has cut two teeth, bottom left is up more than the bottom right. We've started weaning as well, started yesterday. I've had pretty much a whole week of her being totally exhausted by 5pm, just too early as she was a 7-8pm bedtime baby. As a result of such an early bed time it = being wide awake at 4am which is again for her too early for her 1st bottle.

Then noticed by 1pm most days she'd already taken 25oz of milk due to being up for so long. So yesterday we introduced baby rice, she totally loved it, not too sure on the spoon as reached out for the spoon to scoop off the baby rice and take it to her mouth.

Hubby then gave her some toast at which I nearly passed out, frightened me as she's only 5 1/2 mths and know it's too early for toast. But I don't think she had much, she sucked on it for a bit but then didn't bother. Men just have no idea do they.....he then asked me if she could have some juice, ordinary juice I may add.

Anyway as a result of the baby rice she stayed happily awake until 8pm and slept till 6am. We'll see how tonight goes, she is still currently awake so that's a good sign.

Hope everything is going okay Bangton. I know our LO's are similar in age. Big hugs to you and your LO.

CD I wouldn't worry too much about the toast although the recommendation is to introduce gluten between 6 and 7 months the research seems to indicate that it is exposure to alot of gluten that may cause issues :)

We're struggling with meal times here, it seems to be at dinner that lo will end up gagging and being sick, we've just had some cheese on toast, he was doing really well, chewing and then one nibble and he's throwing up. Sometimes I think it's because he's had enough and other times I don't believe he's chewing enough. But what do I do? Will he grow out of it?

Sorry to hear you're struggling :( Rest assured he will grow out of it though. He's learning about flavours and textures, how to eat and chew, when to recognise that he's full, how much to stuff into his mouth in one go... There's a lot to learn for someone who's only ever had milk! I know it's worrying, but it does sound normal. Probably worth keeping a record of when it happens and what he was eating though, just in case you see a pattern (e.g. a particular food or a particular time) that might help you.
  • Thanks Nutella, he's always ok around tea time but lunch is when he tends to gag, it's not everyday but it is often. I do think it's a combination of not knowing when he's full and then not chewing properly because of that.

I just need to know he'll grow out of it so thanks for assuring me :)

Do you think he's hungrier or more tired at that time? That might affect his eating? If he's hungry, he might be eating too fast and that could be what's causing it. Maybe give him a bit of milk before solids or bring mealtime forward/add a snack somewhere? Just a thought...

Little and often I found was the way to go with BLW. Don't worry too much about structure and times for eating :) Could just be that he isn't really all that hungry at lunchtime!

Little miss is still in 18-24m clothing at 2 and people are always telling me when she's in her buggy that she looks like a little doll (To be quite honest I find the china dolls of all kinds quite freaky but I'm assured it's a compliment!) and she is quite literally a human dustbin with a taste for kamikaze climbing. They are all different and have their little quirks :D

We have had the week from hell... I don't know what happened to the kids, they've just all gone mad? I feel like the dentist in finding nemo at the end when it all goes bonkers :o Not that I watch kid's films or anything :o:o

Don't worry about the toast continual! If she can get it to her mouth herself, it's more than likely a ok for her to be eating :) xx

Thanks everyone. mrsh that's so reassuring as I wanted so desperately to ring OH and ask him to come home yesterday. When he did get home in evening i had a good cry and he was so lovely about it all. I'm so sorry your having your own problems with feeding though.

LO seems happier today but was upset in the night so we gave him calpol and he settled after a while and went to sleep till 5 which is good for us! It's defo a tooth he was gnawing away on my fingers in the night and I felt a sharp edge. Hope it comes through soon!!! OH was great ..getting up with me and helping soothe LO. He was making him laugh at 1am although to be fair I think we've passed the point of it mattering whether we talk to LO or not in night!

In other news I've finally worked out how to add paragraph s when posting on my phone (which i always do!!!) :)
