    Hi Chickadees...

I am literally about to walk out the door for the night but thought I would pass through to speak with you all and share some news...

Firstly I found the sandals at Jones the Bootmaker as suggested and they are THE BROWN ONES! :T:T:T... Thought to check last night and they only had blue but rang another store who kept them for me today!

I also bought THAT hoody but was given a discount cause I smiled at the boss man and made witty small talk with them all - £103 paid instead of £130 and a £10 gift card to boot. Still got it's tags on incase the colour worries me over the next few days...

Simple capri pants for hiking or simply walking around in when I am having an off day and want to relax (also they squish down really small and can be worn under a dress for decency in temples etc) located in TK Maxx... you seriously need to be well fed and watered before heading in there!!!...

AND... I completely and fully resigned today! That's it. No sabbatical, no job. I am FREE!!!

    Onwards!!!

    Wow, super successful day NSK!
Sounds like all your plans are coming together with your travelling wardrobe - so pleased you managed to track down the elusive brown sandals!
And even bigger wow about the resignation! I think you will enjoy your travels better without having the constant reminder that you have a job to go back to - no end date on your epic journey.

  • that is good news on the resignation :) So great to see your plans coming together XXX
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Morning Chickadees...

Thank you for the congrats and squealing - I really appreciate it! :T.. It doesn't feel weird to have resigned, I am not worried, and more a little excited - which says a lot. It's amazing the mindset you hold when institutionalized by one organization. It's like I have only just realized I can do anything I want.

Which is why I have had to spend £434 on Amazon for "essentials" - seriously nothing was "wanted" - it was all needed and even then I was being frugal. This does include my big and small rucksack though which together comes to £175 -... But my research has paid off and I am happy.

For those worried about safety I have order whistles x 2 and an alarmed door stop that will alert everyone within the vicinity that someone is trying to get into my room - lets just hope it doesn't go off in my baggage.

Also I got two TSA ( Transport Security Administration ) locks for my luggage - apparently in America they can open your bags and have a look in if you use these locks instead of cutting them open. So just in case I will use these - in blue - to match my hoody and make them more easily spotted on the baggage carousel's (loser)....

I did forget a neoprene case for Mr Laptop but he has a hard shell on him at the moment for I might be hitting TK Maxx again soon for a proper look around and some minor necessities - little wash bags to hold my electronics etc.

I don't want to go all utility chic with everything from a hiking store - there needs to be florals in there with bright colours somehow.

I also bought a waterproof compression sack - that might be sent back - in order to carry some bulkier items of clothing - but this is for clothing I haven't bought yet hence it might go back - I have also to get some packing cubes once I have purchased all my clothing and know what I am bringing.

Twas minching around my bedroom last night in my new sandals.... :p:p:p

Right - more research calls.. Onwards!!!

Your excitement is infectious - I was worried up until now with things I had to get done but I should relax and realize it's OK to get excited!!!

I think shop staff are so bored with people coming in, trying stuff on and just leaving. I saw staff in one outdoor store putting up a MASSIVE family tent in the shop - imagine then the customer just walking out..:rotfl:... I made small talk, was generally witty and charming and then slid in a request for a discount.. lol!

  • Haha! My mum is a 'cheeky chappy' when it comes to bartering in shops. I have to admit I get embarrassed when she does it around me, although I am happy doing it myself. I will chat to anyone, and find it easy building rapport (all that work & training in customer services) so I would probably be able to squeak a discount! Love your style though.

You have prepared so so hard for this, for so long, not to mention the year and 3-4 months prior to this, that you were working so hard to drop that debt down to nothing. I am sure, especially as the hoody & rucksacks (and super sexy sandals) are now bought that in reality there isn't all that much left to do when you look at it. Remember your lists... Tick it off as you go, and start to smile... This is going to be an epic adventure! I am really intrigued by the doorstop by the way. Link me please, as I think I would appreciate something similar in my flat! It isn't very nice at the minute and the police were on the doorstep advising me to not answer the door, keep it locked and do not under any circumstances leave anything in the corridor last week. With that in mind, I would like something similar!

One other thing I thought of... I do hope you have finally treated yourself and bought the beautiful new notepad/journal and pen that you were wanting all those long months ago. You definitely deserve pretty things... Would love to think of you sat on some foreign beach with the perfect sand, toes being lapped by crystal waters, writing away with a beautiful pen in a lovely notebook...
