Lol, I wondered how she would mark the occasion - this I hadn't considered, but how I would love Kat to come on and say this is exactly what she did :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I must admit I was thinking of you this morning Kat as I dragged my sorry a$$ out of bed, wishing I could have a long lie...hope that's exactly what you did!0 -
HELLO!!!!
Sorry I have been absent. I can't believe it's been TWO days since I officially moonwalked out of there! I wish I did though.... The last day was weird. I got in later than expected, immediately had my ID card and swipe card taken off me, a very brief "presentation" ensued with my senior manager literally just saying "Kats last day today, Kat do you want to say anything"..... no amusing vitriol that others have received..
I honestly felt completely let down by the entire organisation. There should have been an exit interview and a certificate but they were all forgotten about. There has also been a LOT of leaving do's recently so I think people are fatigued by yet another person leaving.
My gifts? A card, a bracket that has already broken and exactly £47 in cash. Bizarre! But it bought me lunch on Wednesday and today and possibly again on Tuesday when I have to go back into town and then some...
Some people came out to see me at lunch but since I had moved it from tonight to Wednesday just gone, people just didn't materialise. I am annoyed a little as I spent 2 years with one particular team and didn't even have one of them come to see me off - my ex line manager was a complete no show as well. He reads this now and then so I hope he realises that I feel let down.
However, if ever there was something to hammer it home that I have made the right decision then this is it.
So my first day off... I slept in, pottered to the post office for a parcel and got started in putting stuff in boxes and being ruthless with what was coming home with me. I have most of my clothing in a suitcase along with my shoes although this has been whittled down to the most precious and the most expensive that I don't want to give away and have no time to sell. Still more to go I think - will have another go before the final pack!
My bike and cat climbing tree is on eBay as we speak so I need to ensure they get me some cash - I need £1800 for the bikes to feel comfortable in letting it go. I just need to get back to the mechanic and have him fill in the record book and I am good to go.
So today I was out in town nearby (not London) exploring my clothing options. A few dresses bought in H&M for £50 ( I a a weird shape ) and one will be returned... £12 in Primark before I nearly punched people out of my way, £40 in TKMaxx which include the elusive wash bag and another for my electronics...
Its hard locating stuff now that the A/W clothing is out but most little dresses are on sale etc.
In other news I am attempting to type around a very affectionate moggy who brought in her first MOUSE the other night. Dead obviously.. but so perfect, and clean, probably frightened it to death. Horribly muggy but not such a scaredy cat which is good as she will have to be outside a lot on her own at my parents...:(:(:(...
My friend is no longer coming to Irelan with me, I will be on my own on the ferry with muggy and all my bits which ultimately means a movie on board followed by a lot of sleep - should be fun nonetheless...
Although I am very much looking forward to coming home to see Mummy... I can just see it now... time to go home.
So I need to go get my Thai visa next week, then return the following day to collect my passport, arrange a date for my last Hep A / Thyphoid injection, arrange a day to see all LOTR films with a friend, dinner with another, return one of those dresses, arrange collection of boxes with a courier........ hmmmmmm so much to do.
This is all before going to stay with my friend on the 22nd... She has rented out a church hall for my 2nd leaving do which is close friends on the 21st which should be interesting. Can't wait really!!!
I have also fallen in love with Lush solid shampoo.. smells lovely but I don't think it would last very long.. I shall keep applying and see how it goes. So far a conditioner has not been needed so I might just get a spray leave - in when I get there.. who knows. Getting too pinikity now I think....
Anyway - I shall await questions but will have a shower in the mean time..:rotfl:“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Hi Kat
Sorry to hear that your last day was a bit of a let down but as you say it just confirms that you made the right decision. How depressing would it have been always knowing in the back of your mind that you had to go back there when your adventures came to to an end
Good luck with selling the bike and cat tree on eBay. I hope you get what you want for the bike to make you feel more comfortable selling it. I get the impression you are quite attached to it
Hope everything you need to do before going home to Mumsey goes smoothly but knowing how much thought and planning you put into everything I'm sure it will.
Keep us updated and take a little time for yourself.

Kat! There you are!!! Sooooooooooo good to hear from you; for a frightening moment I thought you had just done the 'don't do goodbyes' thing and disappeared!
I am sorry your last day at work was pants. I too would expect a lot more from people I have spent more time with than my family for 5 years, but as you say, a lot of leaving do's (and multiple reasons for this) are probably leaving people a bit jaded. It just makes it easier to go! You have definitely 100% made the right decision. And I know you will walk back into a far better job when you decide to umpteen years from now after visiting every country you ever wish to!
Sad news about Moggy being outside a lot. Is there not someone else more included to use her as a fur baby and idolise her for you whilst you're away? If not, I am sure she will be perfectly fine, and in her mousey element
Good luck with the bike! And cat tree? I have googled this, wherever did you put one of those all these years?!?! :rotfl:
Hope the journey goes smoothly on the way home. Have you a lot of stuff? Is it going to be too much for one person including cat?!?! Hope not!
Also, I LOVE that shampoo and it does last a long timeDon't forget if you're spending time in the sea/pools the chlorine and salt water will have an effect on your hair. Pick up some coconut oil once you're over there and it is excellent for softening your hair, protecting it pre-swim and using a teeny dab as a conditioner!
xx

I don't expect anything from my colleagues! What I do expect is the same level of treatment from the management as every other person that has left in the last few months. Is that too much to ask do you think?
I think in the grand scheme of things I'd have preferred a marching band instead of boring old trumpets!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
