Cash on delivery/pickup? Or bank cheque?

Very good thoughts Listerbelle!! Ebay has become a buyers *cough* scammers paradise and a sellers nightmare.
Kat, responding to my questions is so far down the list! Take what you want from it, with love & don't worry about responding!! Just link me up to that blog and I am sure I will get all of my answers!!

Bike didn't sell - would you suggest cash? I need to be rid of it before I go to my friends house on Monday. Can I not just remove the money from Paypal before handing the bike over if it's paid through eBay..? Do I sit there and check each note he hands over with one of those pens - cause I am not entirely sure what I would be looking for with a fake note..?

Paypal sometimes has withdrawal limits, like 500 quid a month or similar. And if the person paid by paypal, you withdrew the money and then they claimed non-receipt, paypal would chase you for the refund. And, I understand, keep chasing you.
There is info and guidance on the eBay forum on MSEYour biggest asset is TIME! I'm focused on multi-generational financial freedom.0 -
So what do you suggest then Listerbell? Restrictions are on new users is it not? I will check the regulations etc. but you need to help with an alternative suggestion although I think I a bank checque might be the easiest option BUT I need to be rid of the bike before I go to my friends house on Monday?.. Hmmmm conundrum eh?
Well right now I'm at Pret in Sputh Ken - is Thai Embassey time. I can get a 2 month visa for a few quid as opposed to 1 month on arrival and then having to extend it while I'm there if I really wanted to...
Nice and early to get home early for more packing... Whoop!

Kat everything on ebay has changed in the last couple of weeks. I was paid £50 for an item by someone (months ago) and then they claimed that their paypal had been scammed. Despite all my proof, they were refunded, and the money taken from my paypal account even after I had removed the balance.
NOW - if it wasn't bad enough for sellers then, everything is done to protect the buyer. I think mainly because a lot of ebay sellers are power sellers or big companies now. The little guy trying to sell his old stuff no longer gets any rights. I have to be honest I don't really want to ebay anything after I was burned before. There are other options I have been assured. ebid etc. Maybe stick the bike on gumtree, and in the local papers etc?
Yay for the VISA. Are you a little bit worried about Thailand after recent news?

Hi Kat,
You have so many followers that I'm sure you won't remember lil'old me but I used to take part in your challenges. I have been MIA from MSE for a year and started reading diaries again recently and found you! It's taken me 3 days to read your diary from the start but it was like a book that I couldn't put down (I got to that post by the person that "couldn't be bothered" to read through yours, I felt like a marathon runner lapping the guy on the sofa!!). All the way through I was looking at the dates thinking "oo, she'll have left work now" how exciting!
When you mentioned your "to resign/not to resign" decision, I was hoping you'd get rid of that ball and chain and you did! Congrats! You can have a proper break now.
Your words are so inspirational, I would love to do what you're doing. I may have a peruse over my spreadsheet tonight and see when in my life this may be possible (surely it's okay to school a little one from the other side of the world??) If not, guess what I'm doing in retirement!!
Best of luck with your journey, I'd love to follow your journey...I will be jealous though
Sholly x0
