Kat, I think cash is the most advisable method of payment for anything that's not delivered by post/courier. If the buyer pays with Paypal, they can claim that they didn't receive the bike and you'd have to refund them. There's a problem with cheques as well. I can't quite remember off hand, but I think you would have to keep the bike til the cheque cleared.
Maybe you could both go to the bank together and pay the cash in to your account before handing over the keys?0 -

I will check the regulations etc. but you need to help with an alternative suggestion although I think I a bank checque might be the easiest option BUT I need to be rid of the bike before I go to my friends house on Monday?.. Hmmmm conundrum eh?
Well right now I'm at Pret in Sputh Ken - is Thai Embassey time. I can get a 2 month visa for a few quid as opposed to 1 month on arrival and then having to extend it while I'm there if I really wanted to...
Nice and early to get home early for more packing... Whoop!

Oh, and I meant to mention, have you heard of the BT Smart Talk app? If your mum or one of your friends have a BT landline, you can download the app to your phone and link it to their landline. It means that, when you have WiFi, you can use your phone via the app and it charges as if you were calling from the UK e.g. if they have evening and weekend calls, you call a UK landline, 0800 numbers etc after 7pm or at the weekend and it will be free - it will show on their bill as a free call. Obviously you'd have to keep to the time of day restrictions but it could be useful for calling your mum/the bank etc. I used it on holiday this year and it was fab.

Sholly!!! I remember you, we were on some challenges together!
I know what you mean about the guy who asked Kat to give him a brief rundown of her diary because he couldn't be 'bothered' - I laughed long and hard at her response!Well done for getting all the way through the diary! Just as in her challenges, she is an inspiration here too eh.
Hope she doesn't mind me hijacking a little but How are you!?!?
And also, the BT Smart Talk App has 60 minutes free time a month, regardless of the time of day! Even to 0845 numbers etc. I did find it was way worse than Skype though in terms of how well it connected/quality of the call etc.

I remember you as well Sholly
Good to see you again :hello:
I've always found Skype to be the easiest way to communicate from abroad - the connection seems to have got better over the last year or so and the calls are fairly clear.
How did the bike sale end Kat? Hope you got a wodge of bank notes paid into your bank account and waved Hercules off to his new life!0 -
I am still alive chickadees. First night with my friend, bike has been sold - more to come tomorrow. I am shattered!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. I seem to have missed your comment and unfortunately mine was removed as well - trust me when I say I was directing it too you and no one else. I am not sure why you are on my thread or interested in hanging out here - you are not welcome here, you don't contribute to the thread and unfortunately the mods don't see this - I find it bizarre that you remain here. Perhaps you could take the hint and start your own thread.“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Ditto yay! to bike..I just swung by to say I was thinking of you, and wishing you well on your travels! Thanks Sholly for the smart ap tip...I will be downloading that pronto, though sadly not for trips half as exciting as Kats! I often stay for work in a place with rubbish phone signal but great wifi. Sadly not all my parental contacts etc are skypers, so maybe that app will help me out then!
Good luck with the last bits of packing!! I am sure with all your pre-planning it will all fit! Go NSK!0
