Terrible news about your friend's sister Buffy. Really brings it home - life is too short - make the most of every day.

  • I am contemplating a few things on this bright Autumn day.

    1. a no spend October. - rules being only shopping in supermarkets for FOOD and any gifts (think there is a birthday somewhere) with allowed spending for Hallowe'en.

    2. I started a new blog yesterday. am going to post something each day - something I have enjoyed or achieved.

walked the dogs this morning. LOVELY.

however today I have a lot to do.

  • haven't done any chores. need a shower as went out with Mum to tend to Nan and Grandad's grave. Napped and woke up to Mum cooking a sunday roast. Nice but so unnecessary and drives me nuts as it is such an operation! Also means in the "dinner will be ready in a minute" stuff the animals still need cleaning out.

However the real telling thing today is how tired I am from just a little hard work (hadn't been to cemetery for a year) tho the journey was a bit stressful.....

So yeah. need to sort myself out.

That aside I have been reading about stoozing..........debating whether or not to do it......

not really sure I get it. Need to ask some questions.

  • Have been reading for a while, but I don't think I've posted before. I'm so sorry about your friend. One thing I've been doing for a couple of months now is, at the end of every day, writing down 5 'wins' from that day. Things that I've achieved, or have gone well. So it might be that I've had a good day at work, or managed to achieve an alcohol free day, or a NSD etc. but it helps me realise how much I have achieved, and finish the day on a positive note. I wonder if it might help? Just a thought x

Have a friend who posts on fb 100happydays, everyday she posts a picture of something that has made her happy that day. Today it was a walk up our local hill, yesterday it was going to starbecks for a hot chocolate with marshmallows, only simple things but they make her happy. Think I will start doing this as sometimes it seems all we hear is bad news,x

    Evening all,

SO, work wise got really stressed.

Then had a bit of an epiphany.........the guy I am having a problem with is a liar.

    It is that simple.

It is creating a great deal of work. But it is good training/experience for me and the reality is I am not in his shoes, it is a stressful !!!!!! job and people cope with that in different ways.

I must remember that it is a job and I do not care. I know that sounds bad and I don't mean I don't care about the kids - I do care, a lot. However it is a job, there are others with just as many deserving kids. IT is NOT my identity or my self worth. And I can (and Will) leave.

So that being said, I am realising that giving up tutoring has left me a bit skint. Not massively but it ain't getting any better.

It may actually be better to go back to some kind of tutoring. My savings are ok but not brilliant.

Halifax have started to do this how much money is left till pay day - I currently have 240..............

    hmmm

I'd ignore that from Halifax. Somehow they have decided that my credit card bill will be double what actually will be payable. But what they don't know is that the positive value they are showing will, if I do nothing, become a negative by the end of December. Put it another way, if you need them to tell you your FUTURE balance then you haven't got your eye on the ball. And we on MSE have both our eyes on the ball. It really annoyed me to be honest and I stopped it.
  • Problem - I don't like my job. not all of it. but I don't want to be doing it in five years - at least not like this.

Idea - that in fairness I have had before but always bottled it. Buy a cheap (to me) property and rent it out.

I am aware this is not without risk or possible disaster. I could get crap tenants, I could lose my job, I will have to pay a letting agent and won't make a profit for at least maybe 3 years?

    I will need

    1. money
    2. time.
    3. guts.

But I have to do something. I really seriously do. Am too old and too stuck currently. This cannot stay. Soon I will be too old for a mortgage!

I just......for my own feeling of progress, I need to say oh yes I own a flat in XXXXXX and I live with my Mum in XXXXX. I would just feel better and more prepared for the future.

I shall look into the risks a bit more.

But I think ultimately I am going to do it.
