  • Oooooh Buffy,

I would pay the card off in a heartbeat. Am I right in thinking you will then have £870 left over (£600 savings / £270 from holiday).

I understand your worry about not having much savings left, but without the cc payments surely you could build it back up pretty quickly.

Nice to have this dilemma though xxxx

It is a very nice dilemma, I must admit I worked out some of when you were plan A/B deciding, but then yesterday talking to my friend and deciding re holiday I thought this morning doesn't that mean........and then the brain starts to whirl....and I think ooo I could be debt free.

but then someone ( I thought was pretty safe so to speak) got sacked Friday - as in asked to leave that day at work. SO that is playing on my mind a fair whack.........

Still I would have some money left.

  • You have to decide what is right for you, but must admit I'd pay the debt off. Even if the worst happens at work, it means your outgoings are reduced by not having a debt repayment to make each month. Xx

Hey Buffster, if you're not sure why not pay off half the debt and leave the rest in savings. I'm on a contract too so know the uncertainty of it, although my contract has lasted 15 years so far.

  • I think I have decided to pay it off at the end of the month.

I have been thinking about it all bloody day! gave myself a headache. Stupid cow that I am.

My reasoning (cos really there was some!) is that I will have saved a bit more by then and that can only be a good thing, plus it gives me time to see if I really want to pay it off or if I just have the hump over various things.

I changed the hamster cage and cleaned out the piggies, I decided not to change their cage over, I need storage and the other one doesn't give me any. I am considering buying a table from Ikea and repurposing as the base for a cage...but it is one of many ideas.

It has been a funny day really. too much thinking and not enough doing. I am a little upset by a few things with my friends, silly stuff and then worried about another friend who is ill, really unlike her.

    Shower and bed me thinks.

I can see your logic in paying it all off. Done and dusted gone. I more or less skint myself to pay my debt off but it's done now and the only way is up from now on. Hope your friend turns out to be ok.

  • Thanks SA

SO glad about your hubby. I had ice cream to celebrate :)

I paid off 800 pounds of the debt. I just thought to HELL with it. that was money out of each savings account plus the two I had saved for holiday.

    so debt now stands £1900.

I have 2200 in ISA and 200 in general savings (not including car, pets and clothes which all have 50 quid in)

So what I am aiming for at the end of feb is

    Isa = 500 (300 left plus 200 from wages)
Gen Savings = 300 (200 left plus 100 from wages)

and all other savings to be around 100 pound each.

    xxx
