  • Welcome Munchkin, and congratulations!

Sometimes OH and I will be sitting on the sofa and were STILL saying 'OMG, we're having a baby!'. We've had the scan, my symptoms are definitely easing - yesterday and today are some of the first days that I've not felt absolutely ravenous the entire time. Which is awesome... I was past the stage of not wanting to eat anything because I HAD to!

His mum and dad were both absolutely overjoyed when we told them, and there were a few tears. And his brothers and inlaws were equally delighted yesterday. Even if we did put an embargo on social media for a few weeks. We let my daughter announce it yesterday by ay of her t-shirt because she was so desperate to tell SOMEONE! She hasn't told anyone at school today. Nine more schooldays to go!

Although her best friends mum asked me on Wednesday if I was pregnant and I'm like 'whaaat?', she said i saw a post on Facebook. Turns out it was one of those stupid games that auto posts to your wall! I thought she was psychic :rotfl:

I'm trying not to say it out loud - I'm not usually superstitious but with the two people I've told (excluding OH), all I've said is "I've had a positive pregnancy test."

Munchkin, good that you've got your appointment booked already. I have to ring up this week (I'll be 8 weeks on Saturday) and book the midwife clinic at my GP. Early scan this week too. I'm sure it'll look like a blob, but all I care about is the heartbeat!
  • I don't think it feels much more real as you progress! Despite 2 scans and a definite baby bump, it still surprises me at times, particularly when I go to stand up and look down and I'm ike 'oh I have a belly, oh yeah it's because I'm pregnant'. Also earlier I was saying something to OH and nearly started with 'if we have a baby' instead of 'when we have a baby'. Oops.
  • Hi all,
I found out I was pregnant about 10days ago, currently 5+3. I'm 38 and due to my job have had to tell pretty much everyone I work with (which is HORRIBLE at this early stage) but no family yet.
I'm just wondering if anyone else feels time is going backwards from the BFP? Up until now the time has been flying by, but now it seems like it will take 9 months just to get to 12 weeks :(
I'm 38, and this will be our first, I just want to be able to feel less terrified! Currently have horrible lower back ache and am worrying dreadfully.

Hot cookie, know what you mean. The first week or so after we found out, was quite real and lots of stuff happened e.g. I had my booking appt (they had a free slot) but now, still over 4 weeks to the scan and apart from feeling pretty damned nauseous, nothing to show and July seems so far away and can't do anything to prepare til I'm further on.
I'd love it to be like the stork where the child is just dropped off (hopefully a bit sooner)

Hotcookie - congratulations :) try and find something to distract yourself in the meantime that's not pregnancy related, help keep you relaxed. Have you considered going for an early scan as some people find it helps relax them.

    Munchkin - congratulations :)

I had a call from the midwife today and I've got my scan date, 12th Dec, so excited! I've got to go for my bloods done again at the hospital before and I'm just waiting for a call back with my day/time.
I've found time going quite fast but I imagine it will slow down now I've got scan date :rotfl:

Similar to you newthift as we are pretty much at the same stage (I'm currently 10+5). I have my second blood test with the midwife on Thursday and then two weeks today (13th Dec) I have my scan.

Thankfully I have had a few good days in a row since recovering from the nasty virus I picked up. Was randomly sick after brushing my teeth last night (dinner clearly wasted on me!) but other than that and ongoing mild indigestion I'm back to my usual self and mostly eating normally. Thank goodness!! I hope you're feeling better?

So excited for scan so we can tell all my grandparents and the rest of the extended family, plus friends. Trying to work out who we can meet to tell face-to-face, who to phone, and who gets to find out via Facebook...

  • Hotcookie - just to reassure you, I had lower back ache and cramps 2 weeks ago and really freaked myself out.
It apparently is already all your ligaments loosening as your uterus gets bigger and already your body is getting ready to give birth! I was really anxious but have made sure that every evening I am getting at least a 10/15 minute walk in which seems to have helped. hope you feel better soon though xx

    Hello all,
I haven't posted in ages sorry but intending to have a proper catch up soon! I am 11 weeks tomorrow and the sickness has got worse... I literally feel sick 24/7. The midwife reassured me by saying with twins it could last longer too WAH!
Hoping to get scan through soon - desperate to tell everyone now!

Snow glad you are feeling more back to yourself again. Hopefully you will of absorbed some of the calories before tea came back up haha! Yes think we are the same as i'm 10+6 today. I can't wait to tell our parents (and everyone else). I'll be sad to not have this little secret that's just me and DH but will be so nice to finally share the news.

Elles Midwives are so honest and reassuring aren't they ;) haha fingers crossed it doesn't last too much longer for you and scan date comes through soon.

I'm off to the hospital tomorrow for bloods which I think is including the combined testing! I'll be doing my best sneaking though as my mum's department is right next door to where I go in :rotfl: I have this appointment and the scan to do without her spotting us.

  • It's all gone a bit quiet - how is everyone?

I had my booking appointment yesterday - nuisance from start to finish, as the midwife had moved it at last minute from surgery to the hospital, where parking is a total nightmare. I didn't get told anything I didn't already know, and answered about a million questions, so not exactly the useful discussion appointment I was hoping for. Supposedly the other hospital where I'll be having the baby should be ringing me today to arrange the scan...if they received the *faxed* notes yesterday. Honestly, what century is the NHS in?! I'm just generally going to be grumpy until I've had the scan and confirmed that the foetus is alive and well. 12 weeks today. I always assumed I'd know by now :(
