Cherry I haven't been fussed about not drinking at social events either. Not that I've had anything major, but I avoided a party last night which my OH has been sleeping off most of today. Thankfully he's coming round to how I was pre-positive test - weekends are so precious and short that it's horrible to waste them with a hangover.

Next two weeks are Christmas parties. I have a valid excuse for the one next weekend (travelling back from somewhere and am going to claim lack of time to drop car off etc), but for the one the following week, I might have to confide in a couple of allies to cover for me.

Anyone got anything on this week?
  • I'm sure this is a frequent conversation on here, but I'm quite surprised by the varied experience of not drinking. Makes me think just how many situations are normally marked with booze, from socialising, eating nice food, celebrating, unwinding, treating ourselves! Pudding is taking some of these over :-)

True! I'm quite lucky in that I don't really drink very much these days, and because I'm often driving, most friends won't bat an eyelid. Also, I have been having the occasional glass of wine or beer when I have a hankering, not going total abstinence! I don't know how any heavy drinkers manage to keep it a secret.

Pidge glad it went ok with your mum.

I've not found the no drinking too bad as typically I tend to be driver anyway so most people haven't batted an eyelid at that. I agree that the call of the one last drink is never luring if it's a generally steady night. My boobs and quickly developing belly however are starting to prove difficult to hide.
Had a wedding last night and I had to just wear what fit/hid my tummy. I know it's mainly bloat atm but it looks obvious :rotfl: spent most of today feeling really rough but luckily DH has been excellent and done so much!
Hoping to get scan letter this week!!
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

I've given up not telling people, especially as MIL has spread the news around various family members (should have listened to husband about that!) so for the one Christmas party I am going to, enough friends know why I won't be drinking, which will be a surprise for some especially after last year. I am awful about keeping secrets anyway and several people have more or less guessed since I've stopped training seriously for my rowing and am just exercising instead.

Had to ring the midwives last week having realised that there is a slight chance of Zika infection following our start to our holiday in Singapore so I'll be having extra scans to check growth at 24 and 28 weeks. Surprisingly ok about that.

Discussed my antidepressants with GP last week and agreed that it would be best to try and stop those although it is definitely a balance of welfare thing.

Still just feeling a bit nauseous a lot of the time and still 4 weeks and a bit to our scan. So dont' quite believe it's entirely happening yet.
  • Just booked to see the midwife.
I'll be 8 weeks by then, 3 days before Christmas .
It still really hasn't sunk in yet.

Munchkin- I've seen the midwife and got a scan date and still feels totally unreal (8 weeks yesterday)
  • I've had to say out loud a few times "I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant" but it still doesn't sink in.
Maybe when I say it to someone other than myself, OH or doctors receptionist it might sink in.
    Maybe

I know what you mean Munchkin, I can't wait to be out of the woods and able to tell other people.

In the meantime, we can say it here (!) I'm pregnant too!
  • Thank Cherry, I though I was just nuts.
It just seems so long til we want to tell anyone. I'd be happy to tell family after the midwife appointment but OH works away, is away for that and won't be back til I'm around 12/13 weeks so I can't say anything without him here.
But we didn't tell anyone we were ttc which we have since march so I guess a couple more months won't make much difference.
