Also if you want something a bit silly for dad's, we bought the Haynes baby manual for BIL a couple of years ago, written in the style of a car manual but according to reviews very useful! Just done a quick Google and you can get the old edition for £2.99 in ebay or about a fiver on amazon.

I'm holding off buying any books. Feeling pretty relaxed about it all at the moment and reluctant to push myself into research mode (which is my normal style). I'm the same when any baby stuff- was speaking to a colleague at work who is 19 weeks (she doesn't know I'm pregnant) and she was telling me all about the stuff area bought anyway and the lists she has, but I've not really thought about it at all. Need to get our house sorted out first (the bathroom is nearly finished!!)
  • I have an appointment for blood tests a week in Tuesday. I wish we would get the date for the scan itself! I am so impatient :o

sweetbabu, are your blood tests with gp surgery or midwife? I had all mine done by my midwife, and she booked my scan and my next midwife appointment during that booking in appointment. It seems to vary by area, but I've not been to my GP at all.

The letter has come from the maternity services manager and it's at a children's centre.

I'll be 10+1 then, so hopefully the scan won't be too long after that.

The midwife that I actually saw said once I had a scan appointment, shed come to the house and do the booking appointment.

I really don't remember what order things happened in last time - it was so long ago :o But as you say, things seems to vary greatly as to how they work from area to area.

Fingers crossed you get your scan date soon. Mine is at 13+2, although we had our sneak peak 2 weeks ago. Looking forward to seeing how much it has grown, it was 31mm at 9+6.

I'm now 11+5 and my tummy is def starting to change! Definitely a little bump there and I can't really pull my stomach flat anymore (and suspect I never will again!!). A couple of colleagues at work who know both commented they noticed it, so don't know how I'm going to manage keeping it from everyone else until scan! I weighed myself yesterday and have only put only 1lb since pre pregnancy despite the bump and huge boobs, so it might just be making space to grow. It's really surprised me I'm showing so early, if we'd not had the early scan I'd be questioning my dates by now. Anyone else getting a bump yet?

Hi all, 11 weeks today and nausea not as bad as it has been. 11 days still to go for me for my scan, very nervous and wish it would hurry up so I can actually confirm I am pregnant!

Im feeling very bloated penguin, not sure if it can be classed as a proper bump as baby is only 3-4cm?

Since being back at work after have two weeks off a few people joked about my sickness being pregnancy related, but I have told them it wasn't. Not happy lying but I would rather wait until we have had the scan before letting everyone know!

It doesn't feel like bloating anymore- I did have that a few weeks ago, but it improved. My belly now seems more consistent in size throughout the day, not fluctuating and getting bigger by evening like bloating. My jeans are getting tighter, but not too bad, but I tend to wear them on my hip anyway. Had a Google (obviously!) and it seems like quite a few people start to bump early. If you didn't know I was pregnant you'd just think I had a little pot belly. I don't know if it's because I'm quite short and have a pretty small torso? I know the bump isn't baby yet, but my understanding is that your uterus expands and pushes everything out, so most of it is empty space for the first few months.

Hi *waves* I'm tentatively here after having three positive tests yesterday. I'm very scared about what might happen next!

Just wondered if any of you ladies had any advice about POAS - did you keep testing after a positive result? I tested twice this morning and got a line on a cheapie and then managed to void my Clearblue test  I will make a GP appointment tomorrow, but I suppose I'm so worried about a chemical pregnancy that I wanted to keep checking something was in there!

Thank you, and I promise to try and dial down the crazy!

    Hi Ratison!
I tested with a clearblue with date indicator which for me said 3+ so I was pretty sure I was pregnant! Rang the Drs who told me I need to see a GP before referring to midwifes. But last year when I was pregnant my previous Dr didn't want to see me and I had to self refer to the local hospital.
Try not to worry as you will have a bit of a wait before any appointments, so take it easy :-)

Hey Ratison. Clear blue are good for seeing the weeks go up (hcg increasing) but can be temperamental. Worked for me though.

Def don't just book a GP appointment - ask reception about the process. In our area and many others you don't need to see a GP they just refer you to midwife who will see you around 8-10 weeks. Each area is different though but my GP appointment was a waste of time.

Congratulations though!! I have everything crossed for you xx
