So I had a terrible night last night. After feeling nauseas all day and sore cramps, I woke through the night with sever abdominal cramps :( I was up for around 40 mins doubled over. It felt a bit like trapped wind and made me realise that I've actually had this the last few mornings. I also had a small amount of brown blood when I wiped through the night and this morning.

Hubby wanted me to phone GP first thing this morning. The off duty doctor phoned me back and basically was no help whatsoever! She said "it's very early days so I don't know if a scan will show anything" and just gave me the phone number for the early pregnancy unit and said to phone them. I never asked for a scan, just some advise as I was worried! Called EPU and it was an answering machine so left a message.

Now sat here wondering when/if they will call back and feeling quite emotional :(

Oh no Clara that sucks!! How are you feeling now? Unfortunately my doc told me that before 6 weeks there is basically nothing they can do, but then on other forums I have heard of people having scans just to tell them either way.

Remember though as long as there is no red blood chances are things are fine and even then there are plenty of success stories. If pain gets severe again though maybe go to the hospital as they will want to rule out things like ectopic or molar pregnancy before they get any more serious.

    Look after yourself xx

I'm still having cramps, but it seems to be back to my normal that I've had since BFP. No more blood from wiping at the loo there. Haven't eaten yet but feel nauseas but not sure if it's just because I'm worried.

Ectopic was what flagged in my head :( I remember doctor saying during discussion about PCOS that I may be at higher risk.
  • Try not to worry yourself Clara will make you feel worse, hope the epu are more help than the doctor you spoke to! Xx

Try not to panic although I appreciate that is far easier to say than do!! Is the pain one sided at all? That (i believe) is one of the bigger symptoms of ectopic.

Honestly though trust your gut - if you're feeling bad just go to the doctor or hospital, push them if you have to!!

Thanks Pink, the EPU haven't called back yet - their answer machine said "will call you back through the working day"

My gut is kind of telling me trapped wind/constipation for bad cramps but now sure about the blood. The cramps are all over not one sided. The doctor asked if it looked like old period blood but then never made any comment when I said yes. There really wasn't alot of it - just the paper was obviously a different colour to normal

I honestly think it sounds ok then - wind is definitely a common preg problem!!

Take care though and as I say just trust your instinct xx

clara try and stay calm, I know exactly how you are feeling I've had brown spotting at 6, 9 and 15 weeks and every time has sent me into a total headspin! My EPU were very helpful so I hope they call you soon and put your mind at rest. It could be absolutely nothing or a number of harmless minor things. I'm rapidly realising that the worry never stops completely and is part of being a parent so welcome to the rest of your life. Sending lots of love and rest up if you can x

cats I'm so very pleased for you and keep sending you lots of good thoughts. It must have been such an emotional moment. I bet you can't wait for the 12 week now to see it all over again! x
