Yay! I finally managed to get hold of the local midwife, and I've got my booking in appointment on Thursday morning (or afternoon if she's been up all night with a home birth due the night before). It's a good job I kept on trying to contact her, as the silly GP didn't refer me to her when I reported my pregnancy at 4 weeks. I'm annoyed particularly due to what happened in my last pregnancy, as it could have delayed my 12 week scan and I'm already anxious about that understandably.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Thats brilliant news about the midwife and your booking in appointment but how annoying the GP didn't refer you! That really is out of order for any pregnant woman not to be referred to the midwife but as you are already nervous! Surely they would have known that being about to have your check ups and have all of your questions answered and worries addressed would be important.

Yes I'm starting to wonder if the Gp was responsible for the horrible surprise pre-birth visit from the health visitor for Poppy when she'd died at 14 weeks gestation.

Hi, I'm a bit of a newby on this thread.
I'm currently pregnant with my third child. I've FINALLY got my booking in appointment on Monday when I'll be 11+2 (I've waited ages - there must be a baby boom).
Hopefully the following week I'll have my scan and I can tell work. I'm sure they already know though as I am absolutely huge. I'm not sure if it's just because it's my third or if it might be twins. Eeek!

Exciting news about the house VicVics! Hope the move goes smoothly and quickly for you.

Glad you got hold of MW mouse, and how awful about the HV coming round. Hope you'll get better, more sympathetic care from now on.

Hi jenijen, hope your booking appt goes well.

Haven't heard from my MW yet, but expect she might call on Tuesday when she has her clinic at the GP's surgery. She keeps a notebook at reception there so I had the receptionist add my contact details (suppose it's like insurance in case referrals go astray).

Weird symptom time - I'm a lifelong nail biter, but for some reason pregnant me does not bite nails! They're growing nice and strong (usually if I try to grow them they're really brittle and break easily), and make a lovely clacking sound as I type on my touchscreen, haha!

Hi ladies, I've decided to break my own rule and join this thread. 5+1 today. Was trying to hold out until 6 weeks+ but I'm just panicking all the time about things going wrong, and I figure if, god forbid, it does, I would rather have you guys to lean on as I know many of you have been through things before.

Had a lovely 2-3 weeks on Clearblue Digital on Saturday and a SUPER strong two lines on a cheapy yesterday, so trying to relax but it's not easy!! Pretty certain I'm going to book an early scan for c.8 weeks.

Got docs tomorrow as I'm hypothyroid so they need to monitor me closely, which I suppose is a good thing!

Not really any symptoms yet, bbs might be a bit tender but I don't know if I'm imagining it! And I'm always tired so not sure if that's different. Do feel hungry alot though so that could be related? Did anyone else not have many symptoms?

I really want to try and enjoy things but just feeling so nervous :(

cats lovely to see you here! I've just moved over to 12-24 but just wanted to say that I didn't have many symptoms at all until about 7-8 weeks, so try not to worry (how many times will you hear that one?!).

An early scan should help to ease your mind, we had one and there was a heartbeat and they could tell us everything was where it should be for our dates - very reassuring (for that day anyway!).

Gets lots of rest and try and enjoy it as much as you can. You are doing everything you can X

Welcome and congratulations Cats, it sounds like the symptoms are just beginning kick in. Its pretty normal for you to not have many symptoms at week 5. My friend didn't have any all the way through. At 6 weeks I went to Cornwall on holiday feeling fine. Handled the 5 hr journey lovely then a week later (7 weeks) made the journey back. This time I was having to get the hubby to stop the car every hour-ish so that I could throw up. The morning sickness had well and truly started. Since then I have been on countdown until they disappear and I can start really enjoying the pregnancy lol. Try to take each day as it comes and try not to worry too much although that is definitely easier said than done.

Im 12+4 here today although still waiting for my scan (Friday) so thought I would stick around until then. Getting incredibly nervous and cannot wait to see the baby for the first time. Took my daughter to her music and movement class this morning and everyone could very clearly see I was pregnant. I am loads bigger than I was last time even though I have gained less weight compared to last time.

cats it's lovely to see you make the leap onto this thread. As you say, many of us understand your anxiety on here due to past experiences. I didn't really have any symptoms apart from extreme hunger until about 7 weeks either, which also worried me, but I had a morning of being sick at exactly 7 weeks, and had been booked an early scan for 7+2, which helped reassure me a bit at the time. I'm now 9+2 and have been feeling and being sick for a couple of weeks now, and am still waiting to hear when my 12 week scan will be. I have my booking in with the midwife on Thursday. Try to take each day as it comes, and plan lots of things to distract you to help make the time pass quicker. A scan around 8 weeks would be lovely, as you'll be able to see a bit more than I could at 7 weeks as the baby does a lot of changing and growing in the early weeks. I'm sure that your GP would be able to book that in for you when you go to see them about your thyroid if you ask them, or you may be able to call your EPU yourself?

VivVics I showed a lot earlier with Poppy too as I think I may have had an element of diastasis recti (where your stomach muscles separate in a previous pregnancy and don't necessarily go back to normal after). I definitely remember having to use the hair bobble on my trouser button trick by around 10-11 weeks last time as my trousers were feeling tight if I tried to do them up. I suspect this will be right around the corner for me now as my work trousers are already feeling a bit tight, but unfortunately do up with those hook fastenings, so no way of adjusting them. Good job I've only got a couple more weeks of term as I know that my maternity trousers would be too big. Sending you lots of luck for Friday, and I hope the time between now and then goes quickly for you. xx

Mancmama lovely to see you popping in, and I hope you're well?

In other news, I became an auntie for the first time on Sunday (my sister had her baby 3 weeks early) and we're off to visit them tonight. I'm not sure how this will go, as I'm sure seeing him will bring up a lot of emotions about Poppy, as he's only 2 months younger than what she would have been had she survived.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Just popping over from 12-24 weeks to say congrats to Cats! So pleased for you!

I was exactly the same...worried constantly, still am now at 15 weeks. You just have to try to stay positive. My hubby was really good at telling me to stop when I got worried. Definitely book an early scan, that really really helped me. If it was up to me I'd have weekly scans!!!

Enjoy this time...and congrats again xx
