Gelly - if you struggle on the train, on some lines into London you can get a letter giving permission to sit in 1st class if you can't get a seat in standard. My sister has one when she was commuting while pg, as she fainted if stood up for too long x

Good luck today Gelly. Thinking of you xx

We went to see Jimmy Carr on Monday night (he was doing a gig locally). It was very funny, but was a late night. I tried coming into work yesterday but I was absolutely exhausted and as useful as a chocolate teapot, so I agreed with my boss that I would take the day as holiday instead so I could go back to sleep! lol

Had a few UTI symptoms last couple of days. Mild, but they are there, so I dropped off another sample this morning. This time I had a little plastic cup thing to help with the collection, so I am sure there was no skin contact during collection and if the sample does come back positive, then it's not because it's a contaminated sample.

Hope everyone else is well. 11 weeks here exactly. So, one week to go to the 'safe' point, and our 1st scan! Eek! :)

How's everyone getting on with the Xmas shopping?

    xx

  • Hi Ladies, the scan was good, I am so relieved. Visually the baby looked fine and the neck fluid was within normal range. They took blood as well so will get full results within 2 weeks. It was only the Downs and not the Edwards tests as it's not until Jan that it comes in but at this stage am feeling very reassured that the baby looks normal. I will be meeting with a screening midwife at some point to discuss options but it is looking positive.

Hope you are all OK, and thank you for all the support. After 5 miscarriages in a row I feel like we are finally getting there!

So happy for you boat girl, and I hope the blood tests come back fine as well. It sounds like they well. Must be a huge weight off your shoulders, though I'm sure you can't help but still worry a bit xx

  • Everyone having their scans is making me excited. I can't wait to have mine, well I have to book in with the midwife first which is still a week away but I can't wait for my scan for that reassurance. It's so worrying when you're still only going off sore boobies and nausea (I've still had no real sickness).

I'm unbelievably tired though, I've been going to bed so early which is just unlike me and my trousers are feeling a bit tight already, which I'm putting down to eating too much because I'm always hungry.

Not sure what week to call myself. LMP was 30th September so would make me 9 weeks but going off the Dr's blood test and ovalulating I think about 7 weeks. Do I go off the LMP calculation because I think that's what the midwife will do?

Really pleased for all the positive news, keeping posting, I'm loving reading it all.

30th sept. lmp makes you 9 weeks pregnant which is 7 weeks past ov. but the pregnancy is dated from the period.. making your due date 7th July .. until they do a scan and change it

Athens - do you have a typical length cycle? ie, around 28 days? If so, take the day of your LMP as the first day. Although the conception doesn't actually occur until ovulation time, the doctors still count the 2 weeks before as part of the 40 week pregnancy term for some reason.

But, if you have longer cycles, you might want to work back 2 weeks from your ovulation date instead. Does that make sense? I hope so lol

For example, my cycles are around typical length and my LMP date was 16th September, which makes me 11 weeks, but the actual foetal age is 9 weeks.

  • Thanks for the replies.

I sound like such an amateur but already have 3 daughters.

I was regular before I had DD1 so dated off the LMP. But with a mixture of breastfeeding, pregnancy and contraception I wasn't regular until about a year ago hence not finding out I was pg with DD2 and DD3 until very late on, 15 weeks with DD2 and 18 weeks with DD3.

This is going to be the longest pregnancy ever since I'm used to short ones ;) At least I'll get 2 scans this time which I didn't with my last two as they were so far along.

I like the sound of 9 weeks better than 7 :) I like the sound of a possible June baby too (I'll have to have a planned section a week early as my other 3 were all c-sections) and DD3's birthday is 13th July and mine's the 14th so could really do without another mid-July birthday. I just about scrape together a bit of left over cake now, I've not had a proper birthday for the last 9 years since DD3 arrived, I'd never age again with another July baby.

We have a birthday cluster too.. my partners is 12th July so would fit nice with your house! but my 2 oldest daughters are 5th and 26th July and the 3 littlies are 4th and 9th of August and 16th Sept. this one if it has survived my constant illness which I'm not confident about will be mid June or earlier which isn't spacing it out much as my grandsons are 7th and 23rd June! An April birthday wolud be nice we don't have any of those.

I had about 6 scans with my last 3 they were never in the right position for anything measuring or checking
