Hey ladies. Scan done and everything was well! We have a due date of the 9th of June so I am officially 12+1 today. Baby was so chilled out which is exactly like me. I can't quite believe it.

Just told everyone at work and they are dead chuffed.

At my booking in appointment the midwife explained about a new test they can do on your blood, rather than the rather invasive CVS test. It's not offered on the NHS though. So you'd have to pay for it privately and your blood gets sent off to the US I think. It's around £500 I think (possibly more), but poses no risk to the baby.

De-lurking from whichever thread comes after the pregnancy one ! - a lot of hospitals are now trialing this so you may be lucky. My hospital was (found out after I paid for it so actually had it done twice!!) as was a friends in London (different hospital to me) so ask the question should you feel the need to have it done. It is expensive, but no risk. However it doesn't cover as many things as the amnio / CVS. Good Luck.

And whilst I'm posting, congratulations Gelly - I'm so pleased for you. Everything crossed it works out:D
  • Oh Toots that's brilliant, I'm glad all is well, best of luck and hopefully see you on the next thread in a few weeks x

  • Congrats Toots that's brilliant news!! Hope to see you over there this time next week. Fingers crossed, it can't come quick enough.

Has anybody else got a big belly yet? I swear I look 6 months pregnant, everyone.. well those that know, are convinced it will be twins! My stomach is rock hard as well. I didn't have the flattest belly before pregnancy but nothing like this.

you may find it is mainly bloating and it does get a bit better around 12-14 weeks, I've found.. the muscles relaxing is one of the first things to happen .. constipation, wind, water retention all those classy things add to the porky look.

  • Thanks for the kind thoughts and advice, will look into that test Euro. I think we have been incredibly lucky though and my hospital is bringing that test in from December and we have our scan and nuchal test on the 1st so apparently this now includes Edwards and Pattaus (?) syndrome as well as Downs. We could afford to go private if necessary but money is tight and would rather not but will pay for it rather than the cvs.

I think a lot of my anxiety is stemming form the fact that I feel this is more than likely my last attempt at a successful pregnancy, after 5 miscarriages and a body that really dislikes being pregnant I don't want to keep doing this to myself. I feel life has been on hold for the last couple of years and just really want it to happen this time.

Congratulations Toots! So glad all went well and hopefully will see you over there in just over a week! :)

Boat girl, I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you that will all will work out wonderfully for you! xx

I seem to be having one good day, followed by one bad day at the moment. Saturday was awful as I woke up with a blinding headache that took hours to shift and I felt nauseous all day. Yesterday was much better, but then today I'm pretty nauseous again. Almost threw up after brushing my teeth this morning. Had a little cough and that seemed to set me off! Thankfully, it passed.

I haven't gained any weight either. I did in the first few weeks, but when the nausea and sickness kicked in, I lost those first couple of lbs and I've maintained since. I'm hoping that, since I was already a bit overweight to begin with, that all is still OK with the baby. I've been eating as much as possible, and quite a lot all things considered but I just seem to always feel hungry and nauseous!

Skint, I tend to start off without a belly, but by the end of the day I've bloated out with wind and look massive and belly goes hard etc. But I think mine is definitely all wind! lol How attractive!

  • Thanks Euro, was feeling very sorry for myself yesterday. Just going to try and relax and hope for good news tomorrow but be prepared to take what comes.

Toots, I meant to say congratulations, really hope it goes well for you x

Euro, I am the same, some days awful nausea and headaches and some days fine, can't seem to find a pattern to it so can only assume it must be little hormone surges?
