As a midwife (now retired on health grounds) I would say that scans give you a snapshot in time - they can only reassure you that for that minute that everything is ok, especially early ones. It is the same with these listening devices too. If it is too early to see or babe is in the wrong position then it just causes much more worry x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I know most of you are a bit further along than me (most people are because you could not really be earlier than me I think!) can I ask - did you have any symptoms very early? I think I have some (actually, I did from about 3DPO, which is why I ended up testing at 9DPO and getting BFP!!) but I am not sure if they are, or if I am imagining them, or if they are a bad sign of impending af....argh! Why can't I just stop stressing? I almost wish I had not got a BFP before af actually being late, because it makes it feel like it can't be real. It doesn't help that hubby is away so I am basically mooching around the house turning into a mental person!

I didnt really get any symptoms until 6 weeks apart from feeling hot and sweating loads..... then at 6 weeks nausea started bad and now at 10 weeks all symptoms have faded a bit.

Try not to worry too much daisiegg unfortunately pg symptoms and af symptoms are almost identical at first so it's totally normal to get mild cramps and headaches etc hope that helps x
  • My main symptom was cramping from around 4dpo until a couple of days ago although that's now subsided pretty much. I also need to visit the loo a bit more often and was quite dizzy until Friday but that also seems to have passed.

I have to admit I am starting to worry a bit about lack of symptoms today but I know I just have to see how things go.

According to my lmp I will be 5wks tomorrow.

Gp appointment booked for next Friday and considering private scan at 8wks.

I have a LOT of cramping - that is the main thing and I have had it from about 3DPO. It is quite painful and causing me to be constantly checking for blood :( boobs are sore and tender, particularly nips - even clothes or towel brushing them hurts :o That is not usually a pre af symptom for me. Also have been incredibly bloated and burpy - again not normal for me. Exhausted, nauseous (but not to the point of vomiting, just a little bit), ravenous but not really fancying any food, and everything smells BAD. And weeing more than usual. I know everyone will probably say it is too early. I am wondering if there are lots of hormones floating around, for me to have got a BFP at 9DPO.

Anyway. I know I am not imagining these things. I guess I just don't know if they are a good or bad sign! Probably neither. They just are what they are and I need to stop analysing every stupid little thing!

Hugs Daisie, it is hard not to worry about everything! I was exhausted from 3 weeks pg so you can definitely get symptoms from then (though with DS no symptoms until 6 weeks!) so it really varies x

DH is a student so the more we can save for my maternity leave, the better! We could only afford for me to take 8 weeks last time around, hoping for 7 or 8 months this time - so no early scans for us, we'll just wait for the NHS.

How is everyone doing today? :)
  • Hi Daisiegg,

I am doing OK today for a Monday! How are you?

I know I said I have had no symptoms but I think my lack of sleep lately must be pg related. I have not been a good sleeper for about 2 years now but over the last few weeks I have bee waking up 2-3 times a night and then I really struggle to get up in the morning.

Has anyone else had trouble with sleep?

    I feel rubbish today.

I have been struggling to sleep a bit, but for me as well I think it is because hubby is away and I always find it difficult to sleep when he is not here.

Luckily I am off work every second Monday and today is one of those days. Have loads of marking to do though but I just want to sleep!

I know I am naughty but I did two more tests this morning :o I think I am within my rights as af would still be due tomorrow! :rotfl: very reassuring as the one with a line came up very dark - as dark as the control line, and it appeared within about 3 seconds. The CB digi said pregnant 1 - 2 weeks again which is fine by me. I only have 5 tests left and I swear I will not buy anymore after those are done :o

Hope everyone else is doing ok and not having a rubbish Monday xx
