  • Welcome Aunty pickle, I still lurk on the TTC board so saw your BFP congratulations!
  • Congratulations to those who have had scans and are graduating onto the other thread :T
Welcome to Aunty-Pickle!! It's lovely to see you here :) I was wondering how long it would be before we got another BFP for August! You seem to have a lot of symptoms for 5 weeks - I'm also at 5/6 weeks and only have tender boobs occasionally. I was constipated for a while but that seems to have sorted itself out :o I sometimes wish I had more symptoms so that I actually feel pregnant, I have to remind myself sometimes, which is also why I cannot wait for my scan at 7 weeks. How long were you ttc?

Congratulations jammy on your twins news, double trouble right there along with Carrot :p

Pinkshoes - I hope you get your scan date through soon so you can find out a bit more about what's going on. I saw my GP on the Friday and got the letter through Monday although have to wait until start of Sept for the scan where I think I'll be 9 weeks. How funny that your BIL was there!! Let's hope he stays quiet :p

How did it go with the midwife Tilly? Hope she didn't leave you waiting too long!
  • Hi there, can I join too?
Found out about a week and a half ago i'm expecting, approx. 7 and a half weeks now. A bit unexpected as I had just started a new job but myself and hubby are really pleased (not sure the bosses will be though).
I'm going for an early private scan tomorrow which is exciting, I am classed as "high risk" due to a chronic condition I have so its all a bit worrying. Just trying to stay positive.
We haven't told anyone but hubbies close family so far so I am dying to speak to someone about it all, hopefully you guys will not mind me boring you with it all?
  • Thanks everyone!

We were really lucky as I had my coil removed in May so only a couple of months really.

I'm sure if, no... When the symptoms settle (!) I'll probably panic and wish they were back again!!!!

Im only just coming up to 6 weeks and my boobs are constantly tender and already a cup size bigger, constipated, having to pee more often, ligament pains, tiredness and constant bloating.

I must admit. i do slightly enjoy poking my boobs to check they still hurt. its like a reusable, portable pregnancy test. :rotfl:
  • Hello and congrats Aunty Pickle and Crazy Daisy! Great names too ;)

Congrats on reaching 12 weeks Mrs TM! And wow 20 pounds in one week is a lot!! Did the know at the hospital if it was a bug you picked up or something you ate?

Re symptoms - I'm 7+1 and I don't really have any yet :-/ I've had a few minutes of nausea after I've eaten something a few times but that's been it so far. I mentioned it to my midwife today and she said it was nothing to worry about cos it's still very early and some people get no symptoms at all. I'm ok to be pretty much in that camp at the mo although symptoms are reassuring if nothing else!

Thanks for asking about my midwife appointment Missy moo :) she came about 11 so not too bad! The whole booking in process was fine but she seemed quite concerned about the bleeding I've had :-/ so she phoned up and got me another scan for Tuesday next week. She thought maybe it was because the scan last week was internal it had upset me a little bit inside, so I have to have a really full bladder for the scan on Tuesday so hopefully they can do it externally.

Apparently the bladder is like a balloon and if it's empty it's all wrinkly and you can't see through it with an ultrasound scan, but if it's full they can see straight through! I never realised that before so my mission for Tuesday is to drink lots beforehand. Sooo uncomfortable to be poked in your full bladder but hopefully worth it!

I've not had any bleeding since Tuesday now and was feeling ok about it but she got me a bit worried again. If I have any bleeding before Tuesday I should go to a&e :-/ this is a bit gross but I took photos on my phone of the toilet paper with blood on just so I could keep a track of how much there was and the colour of it, and that was quite useful to be able to show her.

Oh and the other thing was ironically she couldn't get any blood of my arms to test for all sorts of things so I have to get that done at the hospital on Tuesday too!

She told me to take it easy too so that's my plan for the weekend! Hope you're all well and have a lovely weekend x
  • I'm sorry, I always write so much! Good luck getting through my epic essay ;) it's just nice to be able to talk to other people in the position because you can't really talk to friends at this stage and even if you did they're not pregnant or at least at the same stage of pregnancy so it's nice to chat to you lovely ladies :) x

I figured that it was food poisoning when I went in, but they classed it as viral (norovirus). The very last sample is the one that had the campylobacter bug in it, so that's what I'm now being treated for with antibiotics.

As for scans with a full bladder, I'll need to pick up some incontinence pads for mine! My bladder is very small anyway, so it being full hurts. Add in the pressing on it for the scan, and well.... :o

Welcome to the new ladies :-)

I had my private scan today and all looks well. My estimate of 11 weeks is bang on to the day and...We found out I'm expecting twins!

I've had a hunch from the start because my grandma had twins. Exciting and scary!
