Just de-lurking to send best wishes to Mrs_T_M...you poor thing! Rest up and look after yourself xxx
  • Hugs Mrs T M! Make sure you look after yourself! x
  • Glad bleeding has stopped princess, that must make you feel a whole lot better!

Amazing that you got a scan so soon pington, it's annoying that you have to pay for the privelege considering you are nearly 12 weeks, but the way I see it is that it's more chances to see the little one which is definitely a good thing!

Hugs to you Mrs_T_M, sounds like you've had an awful time!! As long as you were looked after well and you and baby are ok.

As for me, I got my appointment for a dating scan from the hospital yesterday which came through really quickly considering I only went to the doctors on Friday. Scan is on 9.9.14 so I think I'll be about 9 weeks then, but hopefully I will already know a more accurate date from our private scan which is 2 weeks before that :) lots to look forward to!

Well ladies, I have had my second scan and I got to see both babies and heartbeats! They are measuring at 7weeks 6days - which is perfect.
I still can't believe I'm having twins. No one in my family or friends have twins so have no idea what to expect.
OH is very happy although stressed about money. I am positive that everything will be fine.
I just hope we are able to enjoy 2 at the same time as you would enjoy one at a time.
So happy - just cautious as up until now the only pregnancy symptoms I've really had is painful boobs but that has reduced the last couple days.
  • Afternoon ladies :-)

Aww Carrot, so pleased for you! Has the bleeding stopped now? What happens next, the 12 week scan?

Wow Mrs TM, gastro sounds awful. Hope you're feeling better again today.

As for me, I've started bleeding :-( at the mo it's brown blood and it's worst when I first get up in the morning then almost disappears during the day. I saw my gp on Monday and he said there's a 50/50 chance of it becoming a miscarriage :-( I'm meant to take it easy, avoid heavy lifting or gardening (v unlikely to happen anyway) and no 'hanky panky'. So I'm just waiting to see what happens but hoping and praying for the best.

None of us are really having an easy time are we?! Hopefully these are just first trimester niggles and the rest of our pregnancies will be plain sailing xx
  • Amazing news Carrot! Twins, how exciting! As if one newborn isn't enough of a handful :p Fingers crossed that the rest of your pregnancy is plain sailing.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been bleeding Tilly :( How many weeks are you? Lets hope that with being careful and following doctors orders that you are in the favourable 50% and all turns out ok... sending positive thoughts your way x

Thanks all. I am now starting to get my head around it and quite looking forward to the prospect of 2!

tilly - my only advice (as someone who has been experiencing bleeding) is to relax. I know it's near-on-impossible to do, but it won't help if you are stressed out and constantly worried.
Apparently brown blood is "old" blood. However, even if its pink or red that doesn't mean anything bad necessarily. Mine was always pink and red and they are fine.
My bleeding was often heavier when I got up (like you said) or after a lot of work/walking.
Please just look after yourself and try to relax.
I can completely understand that this is the most stressful time for you so do whatever helps you right now!
  • Hi Missymoo and Carot, thank you for your kind words :-)

Just a quick one as I'm at work and on my phone but I'm 7 weeks tomorrow. But I've stopped bleeding today, yay! So I'm feeling much better about things. Really trying to stay positive that all will be ok. I've got an event tomorrow at work (going to need to ask for help lifting things without giving the game away!) but after that I've got a three day weekend to relax and take it easy.

Carot, I'm so jealous you're having twins, I'd love twins! My friends twins are gorgeous together. Will you find out if they're boys or girls or one of each? I'd imagine it's more expensive to have one of each as they're less likely to share clothes and toys in the longer term, but I'm sure they'll get lots of presents too!

Missymoo, what's your scan date? Hopefully you don't have to wait too long! We had a scan at six weeks last week and you could just see the heartbeat but the scan was very brief (NHS). I'm tempted to book a private one at nine weeks now to make sure alls ok but I'll wait to see what happens over the next week first.
  • Great news Tilly :) Just take it easy and try to relax, but I'm sure you're already relaxed more now that it's stopped.

Our private scan is on Weds 27th when I should be 7 weeks, and our NHS scan is on Tues 9th Sept. I really want to be able to tell people now but it still doesn't feel real for OH and I yet, so I want to be able to give people a picture to prove it when we do tell them :p We are planning on telling my parents and grandparents after the private scan but we'll try and wait for 12 weeks before letting everyone else know. I actually had a scare yesterday because a confirmation letter for the private scan came in the post and my Mum (who is staying with us while her and my dad are in the process of moving house) picked it up and left it on the side for me, but it said Ultrasound-direct and Baby Bond on the front!! It was in small letters and she probably didn't have her glasses on to read it anyways, but I was so scared she had seen it... she didn't say anything and she didn't act any different which I'm sure she would have as she would be desperate to know for sure. I know she will be over the moon as it is her first grandchild, but I want to tell her on our terms when we are ready :)

Have any of you told people yet? It's a hard decision to make of when is the best time and I'm rubbish at keeping secrets at the best of times!

    Hi All!

Went to the docs today (they made me see one before I get a MW appointment), and he's sending me for an early scan.

Although my last AF would put me at 6 weeks now, just before it started I had (brown) spotting for 5 days (thought AF had started really on day 19, even though my cycle is 26 days) and this metallic taste in my mouth. I joked to DH that I was pregnant, but when the spotting started, assumed I was wrong.

I then got really bad nausea about 4 or 5 days before I even missed a period and knew I was pregnant.

Doctor thinks I may have been pregnant with more than one baby, and lost one, so could actually be 10 weeks which explain the very early nausea.

I can't even get a MW appointment until mid-September anyway, so the first appointment I'll get is a scan.

The whole thing has made me feel a little freaked out.

There is the other option that I perhaps mis-carried then got pregnant straight away, and had unusual early nausea, but they need to do a scan just to check.

Missymoo - I was intending to keep the pregnancy quiet until at least 12 weeks, but right behind me in the doctors surgery today when the receptionist shouted out loudly that the earliest MW appt was mid-Sept was my BIL!! I've asked him to keep it quiet!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
