how many do you eat? I bought a bag of prunes today and also some mango flavoured liquorice. I'm determined to sort this out lol0 -
I only had four last time and it worked. Colleague had half the packet and had to run out the office with stomach cramps!0

What's an NT scan?0

We'll today I was back at the midwife to get my bloods taken for all the bits and pieces. I had a bit of a meltdown with her despite being so chilled out. It still doesn't seem real as there is nothing to see or feel and I don't have my scan for another 3 weeks.
My boss is off sick for a couple of weeks and that leaves me to run the place and everything that could possibly go wrong has been going wrong! It's a major test for me and I'm coping not bad but I really don't need the stress. I'm so glad that she didn't do my blood pressure today as I'm quite sure it would have been sky high and I've always had really good blood pressure.
Yesterday afternoon I developed a thumping sore head a dim terribleness or not taking anything for them, this morning it was there when I opened my eyes before I even lifted my head. I've reluctantly taken two paracetamol this afternoon to try and shift it but even normally when I do resort to paracetamol I need to take 3 at a time or they don't work. Needless to say it's still pounding away right now.
All I want o do now is go to bed but I've got a friends wee one tonight for a wee while, thankfully at their house and she will be in bed but I could really do without it tonight
One more day to work, then a five hour drive, then my weekend can begin, can't come quick enough!No longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000 -
hope you get through last day!
I'm on day off and I could cry how tired I feel.0 -
Mrsc I do sympathise re the headaches. I've always suffered but apparantly pregnancy can make them worse! Paracetomol never works, I used to take syndol/cocodemel and be able to sleep them off. They'd last a day. Now they last three days! Argh!
Monty that's the measurement they usually do at 12 week scan to predict Down's syndrome (I think). You opt in or out.0 -
Thanks for the advice ladies. Resorted to asking mil and she bought me some suitable laxatives. She's a prescriber so know they'll be fine. Have never tried prunes or licorice, tbh I really hate the taste of both. If these laxatives haven't sorted it i'll have to give them a whirl though! Peonie, the idea of cutting down on carbs and cheese....quelle horreur! Lol. I'd never eat.
I don't remember who brought up home birth- I really want one. I'm under consultant care though (have a weird shaped uterus that can bring on premature rupture of membranes-they're monitoring it as discovered during ivf investigations and my first pregnancy but mil says loads of women don't know they have it until labour and are fine...).
My current plan is that if my pregnancy progresses as a 'normal' one would and there are no reasons for concern then I'm going to push for home birth, basically for all the reasons that littlemiss/badlyword wrote above. I'm not bothered about gore as my job is pretty grim and I don't think I'd be wandering around the house that much in active labour anyway, i'd rather have one to one assistance than a midwife popping in and out dealing with multiple women in labour (especially as I know my local hospital is very busy and often understaffed) and I hate the idea that OH wouldn't be able to stay overnight for the first night. If I end up needing hospital for stitches etc. then that's a quick in and out and i've still had the birth I wanted. My mum had both my brothers at home so I have positive home birth experiences to go from. I can't think that things will go wrong- either at home or hospital, it'd drive me mad!
MrsC- don't be reluctant about paracetamol. It's pretty much the only thing gp's and pharmacists will give out to you without umming and ahhing! If you need to take them, take them- obviously at the dose on the packet but they're not detrimental to the baby so there's no need to suffer. I was having hideous cramps a few weeks ago and the mw I spoke to was well narked that I hadn't taken them to ease the pain...0 -
Hi ladies - all good with 12wk scan today and NT measuring at 1mm which she said was good.
Was measuring 12+4 but I make it that I'm 12+2. They've not changed my date though as going from scan done at 10wks which was bang on. She actually said 10wk is more accurate for dating but they can't do NT till 11.5wks which is why they scan after then mainly.
Massive difference between 10and 12wks - really amazing!!
Guess it's nearly time to move on sadly enough.
You've given me such fantastic support, couldn't have got through last couple of weeks without you all! XxBaby on board - EDD 29th Sept0 -

To the point that I look like I'm about 5 months and am in agony! Anyone have this with any advice on what I can/ can't do. I'd usually take a buscopan for the horrid crampy feeling and some laxatives but no idea if this is allowed. Daren't ask the gestapo pharmacist in local boots as he definitely won't sell me anything but feel it's stupid to bother GP with. Am almost doubled over with the pain from it. Gonna blame poor exam performance on it too- reckon the uni will accept it as extenuating circumstances? :rotfl:

I have been constipated since starting on iron tablets about 6 weeks ago. I asked at Asda pharmacy what I could take and they offered something in a large bottle, I did not get the name as I can not stand any liquid medicine so left it.
Since my BFP I had switched to decaf coffee but I have found one full caf in the morning gets things moving0 -

What is the name of the laxatives tcd? I would not mind giving them a try.0
