Thanks - the link takes you to a general page though and I can see lots of different tops, will have to have a look :)

This is one of the packs I have, they look quite high in the pic, but they're not really. I'll try to remember to take a pic from the front when I'm wearing one tomorrow

Oh that is so nice! But sadly only available in size 18/20 which is a bit big for me :( thanks though!
  • Daisi, i'm a G cup and size 16 (though who knows if that's still true due to my insane addiction to jaffa cakes and the fact that I moved to stretchy pants ages ago due to [STRIKE]jaffa cakes[/STRIKE] bloating .) I've been buying non maternity wrap style tops and dresses in charity shops/ ebay as high necks + big boobs= looking like the front of a battle ship (as i'm sure all other big boobed women will know :) ) I've also found when browsing that asos is quite good for non frumpy tops- they have a maternity and a plus size line:A. I'm 15 weeks on saturday and I don't think my shape overall has changed that much so maybe you don't need to fret about too many clothes just yet - besides, sounds like the perfect excuse for holiday shopping! Good luck for the scan.

Told manager 'officially' that i'm pregnant today. Risk assessment done so no lifting from now on and regular meetings to make sure I can still do my job. Emailed HR to try and have them demystify their maternity policy, why do they have to write it in such a non-understandable way?!

I haven't signed up for the bounty stuff or any other ones. I read a few articles about it in the Guardian last year while I was bitter and infertile and it put me off them. I've linked them below incase anyone's interested.

I'm starting to look for all my secondhand stuff now. Going to buy cot, moses basket, bouncer, high chair, clothes etc. second hand- just a travel system, reusable nappies and mattresses new. Bedding to be made by me. Has anyone else started looking? I'm figuring I might as well as buying them used means that I'll need to be looking for the best price. I'm going to kiddicare tomorrow to see a pram system they have on clearance for £150 (includes car seat, carry cot, change bag and pram seat), it's half the price of the one in m&p that i liked for the same items so I hope it's as good. Money is so tight right now, it's starting to worry me a little bit as i'm the sole earner at the moment.

TTC39, clearblues aren't a good measure of detecting if anything is going wrong- hormone levels take a while to come down so they don't really show anything. When I first got bfp I was going out of my mind with worry and peeing on any test I could get my mitts on, a few of the ladies on here really helped me pack it in as I was winding myself up- was the line lighter, darker, did it really mean 3+ etc. i know you've had a rough ride to get here but the best advice they gave me was to enjoy it while it lasts, I think it appealed to my fatalistic side tbh but it gave me perspective. Sort of 'if everything is alright then worry will not help baby or me, if something has gone wrong then worry will not change it or prepare me for how terrible it will be'. Sounds weird but it helped. Don't worry about symptoms too- they vary so much. I thought morning sickness was guaranteed and *always* that hollywood style vomitting first thing or at things you used to love. For me it was quite mild and vomitted probably between 10-20 times, the nausea feeling was much worse. It also didn't really hit until mid week 7/8.

Sorry, pure long post there... Hope you're all well!

Lemon, I can't believe you can't have a day off until you start maternity leave. Surely they can't keep you to that now.

I read an interpretation of the maternity legislation it said something along the lines of if you are exhausted work have to give you somewhere to rest and lay down. I'm not sure if the last bit is true.

Anyway, if they have to give us time to rest surely they have to give you a day off.

  • It still doesn't seem real as there is nothing to see or feel and I don't have my scan for another 3 weeks.

Exactly how I feel. Other than a stomach the size of a football due to [STRIKE]ice-cream[/STRIKE] bloating, other symptoms have mainly calmed down at 10+5. Got some kind of weird retching going on but think this is related to being exhausted due to working over 40 hours in the last four days which is more than I'm supposed to do in a week. Big up all those of you who work full time in the city or somewhere like that where that's normal! Never wanted to be part time so badly. TCOD - I too am sole earner. DH is due to finish his undergrad English degree in May so we're hoping he'll get a job in something/anything as soon as! I'm likely to always be main wage earner though. He made the offer of being stay at home Dad so I could go back to work quicker or full time. I whipped my head round exorcist style and hissed that I was not going through pregnancy to not spend any time with the mini me. We're very much hoping we can both work part time.

Re maternity clothes - my friend who is now 21 weeks advised looking ASAP as you have to order most things online and it's hard to find things that fit. Gutted to hear about high necklines. Is this some kind of societal fear of sexy pregnant woman? The girls have never felt so bad or looked so good. Was certainly hoping to find something low cleavage for a wedding in August to distract people from my by then possibly fat feet. We heard that DH's first wife will be there which will be the first time I've met her. JOY.

Daisiegg - we're all exited to hear more about today!

Congrats to all those with lovely scan times.

Fallen Archer - double thanks for the info. Off to look at it all now. My grandmother had all hers at home. DH was worried about mess but midwife explained they clean all that up (need to decide whether to go for birthing pool or not). He clearly realised I wasn't going to be springing up with infant in one hand and j-cloth in other.
    Met DH to be 2010
    Moved in and engaged 2011
    Married 2012
    Bought a house 2013

I am the main earner in my house, and thankfully I have good Mat leave so I will get to take at least a year. It's not all on full pay, but with savings we can happily get by. My DH is making worrying noises about also quitting work at the same time though!! I'm trying to delicately dissuade him. He works 4 days at the moment, and if nothing else if he was home everyday it would drive me insane.

If you want shoes for the wedding (bearing in mind the fat feet comment) I can highly recommend these:
Green Sophia They look fabulous and are super soft leather that has lots of 'give'. They come in green, black and blue. These are the same maker, and look like they would be as comfortable: Rose Sandal. Not cheap I admit... but a nice treat for a wedding.

The Sophia are last season, and not on the website, but in a recent end of season sale I got some for £50 as I knew they would be great for summer with fat tired feet. I should declare an interest here - the owner is a friend of mine, but I totally love the shoes!
